£20 top up for another jacket.

Sixforgold · 10/11/2014 17:14

Yesterday was a NSD - 5/15! However today has been 'one of those' - I wasn't organised enough to make lunch so spent £4.20 and then wasn't organised enough to do other errands today so will end up spending on another day this week.

DrewOB · 10/11/2014 17:24

I'm there after paying for wedding dress cash on the 2nd of November.
since, I have spent a grand total of £16. Not bad considering :)

northender · 10/11/2014 17:30

The car bill came in at £145 on Thursday which is not too bad, all things considered. Otherwise the budget is going pretty well so far this week and managing to get Xmas pressies sorted. Am having takeaway tonight though as I found out today I passed the assignment I submitted in October so a mini celebration!

Great to see so many newbies, the frugal message spreads Smile

574ejones · 10/11/2014 17:48

Well done northender!

Fluffy hope this time the jacket arrives.

girliefriend · 10/11/2014 17:52

NSD as planned but won't be working til 1130pm as usual due to pain and exhaustion. Had to leave work "early" at 18.30. Totally wiped out now from two weeks of hardly any food, bad sleep and pain. Please everyone pray/do a rain dance/send positive juju/ cross your fingers that this Mri scan tomorrow actually shows something because I really need some answers.

Do the milk shakes make you poorly missA?. I am sorry it's still going on. You must feel exhausted by it all.

Tassimo pods are cheaper than takeout coffees though.

I missed an orchard invite for their dairy range. I'm allergic to milk & it's on my account details too Hmm.

Last week's total spend was £50. A bit of a cheat since I'd filled the car of fuel and done a weekly shop the day before, but for me this is a record!

A new week begins today and it was a LSD: £13 in the coop. The DC had fussy friends over for tea, so had to buy something in. They're having a different couple of friends over tomorrow. I'm thinking maybe macaroni and cheese. Every kid likes that, surely? Could have veg on the side and fruit after.

Was having a look in my cupboard today. I'm determined to use up the random tins I have. I've a tin of kidney beans and a tin of chickpeas. Any ideas? The DCs won't eat them and my DH's away, so it's meal ideas for one please? Grin

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 10/11/2014 21:29

fluffy I haven't actually had them yet bc I am allergic to cows milk and all the ones in boots and H & B were based on milk. I have a huge box arriving tomorrow, so if it takes this a while to settle or I need surgery etc I'll be able to try them, also I got powder that you mix into fake milk yourself so we will use them up in breakfast smoothies or porridge even if I am able to eat again soon, so they won't be wasted. It's my fault for not ordering the sooner I just kep thinking that it would go away again as it usually only lasts 3-4 days and these vegan supplements are €€€€€.

mazzle how about a chilli? or a curry? could always freeze additional portions Grin my go to kids meals are pasta and pesto or pizza never met a child who doesn't like those!!

Singmetosleepzzz · 10/11/2014 21:41

Good luck miss a! Nsd as was work today. Same again tomorrow. My parents paid for my son's birthday party in the end so saved 200 pounds there. Was very grateful.

Thank you! I've always got beer handy Blush

I'm terrible for freezing food then not using it! I must get out of that habit.

Credit card bill arrived today. It was more than I expected it to be. I've put all my cards in the cupboard and I have an envelope with my cash budget for the week. Every time I buy something I note it down on the front of the envelope. It's helping!

LSD yesterday - I got the Tube home rather than cycling so spent £2.70. Today should be a LSD and then I hope tomorrow will be NSD.

I quite like the idea of envelopes of cash but I have to sort the credit card out first. I'm effectively living a month in arrears because I pay off the CC in full, then have no money in my account so do the next month on the CC - it's a vicious circle. Maybe once Christmas (and my tax bill) are sorted I'll try to move over to cash.

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 11/11/2014 07:33

Once I'm better again and have the head space DH and I are moving to cash for all household spends (food, cleaning supplies etc). I'm going to try to get him to move to a cash envelope for petrol as well.
Our bills all get paid by direct debit, it's annoying that some companies won't let us change the date to the first of the month as I'd ideally like it all to go out at once but our energy company insists on the 5th and there's a few others that come out at odd times.
Anyway the idea is that on payday the money goes out to savings, the money for direct debits is left in there plus a little cushion for variable bills like phone bill, we take petrol and house money and put it in the relevant envelope and then that's it.
We have agreed that any money left over from house money/petrol money at the end of each month will be scooped into savings as we are building an emergency fund of 3 months of DH salary before starting to save for our dream - a house deposit. We both want our own home so much it will motivate us to save I hope.
