Who fancies a No Spend Day thread (like MSE forum's) ?

I prefer MN to MSE but would like to do some NSDs in January. Anyone else interested in doing a support thread ? this is the idea

I have a shocking spending habit and i really, really need to curb it. So I am going to have a goal of 10 NSDs in January and aim to manage 3 in a row. That would be a massive achievement for me.

So very, very near today. I had to get gas and electric, metered, don't count this as spending as it's money laid aside for utilities each week so that fine but then went and bought a choc bar on impulse. That was it though. I have to say though I checked my bank balance against this time last month and I am well in the black rather than into my overdraft as I was this time last month. Really want to do a proper NS day though, here's to tomorrow!

Not going well here. Three days of spending and probably will tomorrow as well.
But still doable I think.

Really tempted to spend money because of something that's come up at the weekend. Need to go through my wardrobe and come up with an alternative!

only two NSD managed this week. was hoping for 3 and possibly 4.... 6/15

Spending day today, paid for veggies and about to head to supermarket. Also had to get petrol as car telling me I could go no miles on what I'd got! But exH gave me money he owed me from before Christmas (only a tenner, but still!) so with that and euro trade in yesterday I might treat myself and DD2 to a coffee out on Sunday and not count it as a spend!
Child benefit goes in on Monday so then I hope I can pay something off the mortgage.......next month's pay should be better but have got into swing of frugality and must keep it up as will take a few months to get straight I'm afraid.

still on 6/15 planned spending though as shopping due any minute! was very good and took lunch to work.

Still on three. Feeling very discouraged.

Finally managed number 6! It's taken me all week to chalk that one up

I'm still on 2 nkf. I was hopinf to do one today but was too lazy to pack a pic nic when I took the girls out today so ended up buying lunch. Am working tonight so hopefully can manage one tomorrow as I'll be sleeping for some of it.

I've had 7 now! I can't believe it, I used to spend dribs and drabs every day and I've managed to spend nothing but planned expenses (parking, climbing) for 7 days in January so far

I am embarrassed to post. I STILL haven't managed even one! Had to top up my Oyster card today (travel, does it count?) then I went past the market which won't be open tomorrow (weekly shop day) so got all my fruit for the week. Nothing frivolous today though, didn't even treat myself to The Guardian.

Going to try for Monday and Tuesday next week as NSD. Should be doable, have to get dd a school bag from the school shop which is only open Wednesdays so can't make it a trio.

I'm still on 6/15 as stupidly put DS1's turquoise uniform in the wash with their white polo shirts and now have slightly off white polo shirts so had to buy some stuff from the supermarket to make them white again.

I think it is easier to have NSD if you don't go anywhere. On a general basis I cycle to school and back in the morning and walk in the afternoon. There are no shops on the way so no opportunities to spend. I also don't get much time on the computer so little opportunity for internet shopping.

I managed another one today so 7/12 for me. Over half way there. I've hardly spent on anything unnecessary either although did give in and have a couple of coffees with a friend but since I used to buy a coffee almost every day I'm doing well

Its hard not to spend on things especially if I have to go into a shop for some reason. I went to get some flea and worming stuff for hte cat and managed to come out with ONLY those (and £10 less :( )

I have only managed 2! I alnost got 3 then spent 95p on a coffee without thinking I don't think that its possible to get 10 now

Up to 6/10 yesterday, but had to pay for parking today. However someone gave me a bottle of wine so I don't have to buy one for tonight! Cinema tomorrow so won't be able to aim for another till Monday. Am on a course on Tues & Wed where lunch is provided so 2 easy NSD's coming up. Must update me spreadsheet tonight (stunning social life that I have!).

Managed another one today - mainly as we didnt go anywhere! Stayed in and did some housework and sorting out, homework. etc. So now half way there - 5/10 NSD. Need to do three next week and two the week after to make it before payday - which is 27th but as that is a Sunday, will get it on 25th! May try to eek out what is left until Mon 28th if I can!

Will be spending tomorrow - need to get some food in but I have written a list to stick to. Also DD has her riding lesson tomorrow, so that will be a spend. Stables have had flooding problems so she hasnt ridden since mid Dec, and the money to pay for tomorrows lesson is from the cancelled one on 23rd Dec. She only goes every fortnight so next one will be after payday!

No spending on Thursday & Friday, but spent yesterday & today, so 7/10 for me.

Will be getting food in Mon & Tues but the other 3 days should be NSD's.

4/10 here, I took soup to work.
Will be doing the same tomorrow for lunch, probably helps with the healthy eating too.
Loads of people are doing brilliant.

Woohoo, 3/10 today Spending half the day in bed after working a night shift really helped.

Feel like I'm finally getting into the swing of it.

No spend day 7/10 today. Tomorrow I have to pay for school lunches, Tuesday is £1.50 for Brownies. Hopefully Wednesday will be my next nsd followed by nsd 9 on Thursday. We'll see!

Well I'm hoping I can get #3 tomorrow! Tues will definitely be a spend day and probably Wed. I will try to get one in on Thurs, then Sat will be a spend day but I will try for Sunday. So hopefully by this time next week I will be on #5. I'll feel much better if I can manage that!
