I prefer MN to MSE but would like to do some NSDs in January. Anyone else interested in doing a support thread ? this is the idea

I have a shocking spending habit and i really, really need to curb it. So I am going to have a goal of 10 NSDs in January and aim to manage 3 in a row. That would be a massive achievement for me.

I think it's up to you, but I'm going to count them, on the basis that it will encourage me to keep checking the bank account and be more conscious of our money (or lack thereof)

Ok I'm in I would like to go for 15 days. I work five days a week and get lunch provided at work so I think it's achievable as I go back to work on the seventh.

I'd love to join in and will aim for 10 NSD today & tomorrow will be easy as staying at my parents & there is nothing here to spend on in the middle of nowhere!

I had to go to the supermarket today to get food in, so will head into town in a bit - I need a new diary so I'll try to do my forseeable spending all together.

The diary should help me stay on track too.

Count me in and I will aim for 10 NSD this month. Today is my first one on account that I have only been out as far as the bin today!! Doing a tidy up so can get all the kids presents away.

Back to work tomorrow and will try for another NSD then.

Having a NSD today. Got in from working all night at 10 am and went to bed. I take my 'spends' out every payday and try to live off this, it works quite well but am nearly always out of spends at the end of the month. Got paid a week ago and have spent a quarter of my 'spends' so will be trying to rein it in this week.

Working thurs, fri, sat do will attempt a packed lunch for two of these days. Induction at the gym on Thursday too so shouldn't need to spend there hopefully!

Happy new year everyone! Good luck!

I'm in! I like MSE a lot, and lurk there quite a lot but never post.

Comrade, re the direct debits, it's worth reading the MSE link on the first post. They basically say it's up to you. It appears that only the most hardcore include DDs and SOs in their calculations. There's a few other good tips there as well.

Can we include a list of targets and achieved like they do on MSE.

So Tyaca 10/2

Report
OhDearNigel · 01/01/2013 17:46

I'm not including bills. They are part of our household expenditure and are immovable so as far as I am concerned cannot be counted as part of an NSD

Haven't left the house today - I live in Eastbourne town centre with shops all around me so it's far too easy to pop out to buy things or go out for a coffee. There is a coffee shop right opposite the alleyway that leads to our terrace !

OhDear, me neither re bills, though I do think TeWiz's idea of including them to encourage her to check her balance is a good idea.

BTW - that should obvs be

10/0 for me not 10/2 -

am happy to start a list with everyone's targets but don't want to get all bossy britches about it

i'll join this thread!

i'm a bit of a hermit so am quite good at having no spend days but i'd like to make a proper effort at it as i'd really like to get some savings in the bank.

i've decided this year to buy all my electric, petrol and non-perishables on the first of every month. i also have all my DDs and S/O (including one for heating oil) set up to go on or around that date aswell. so hopefully i will just have to do a weekly shop for fruit, veg, milk, bread etc. i would like to buy a second chest freezer so i could buy bargain foods in bulk and freeze to mean even less spending throughout the month.

i would like to aim for 20 no spend days. for me i think that's quite acheiveable.
