It's horrendous isn't it? Could do with a Covid buddy so I feel less alone!

@Bertiesmum3 our policy is to stay off work if producing a positive test...

🤣
how can you produce a positive test when testing was stopped months ago?
🤣🤣

You can buy tests. If a workplace wants this then the workforce have to buy a test.

I feel dreadful. I certainly wouldn't knowingly pass this on to anyone, it's just awful.

minmooch · 20/10/2023 18:30

@Bertiesmum3 not sure why you think it's funny that some people still test? We were supposed to have dinner with family, 2 elderly vulnerable people and one young nephew with a tracheotomy. Now any of these could pick up Covid or any other cold/flu going about their days but would I knowingly risk their health knowing it could have a devastating effect?

I was very poorly with Covid this time, my partner not so much. We tested. Doesn't effect you if others test so why are you so concerned with why some people do?

Testing wasn’t “stopped”
Free tests have stopped.

People can still produce a positive test by testing on a kit that they’ve purchased from a chemist or Amazon.

Hope that helps.

Bellabluea · 20/10/2023 21:14

Exactly. I feel grim and I’m reasonably fit and healthy. I’d really rather not give it to my mum. That said, I only tested because she asked me to. I’d have stayed away with the flu equally.

NotReadyForAutumnYet · 20/10/2023 22:11

I'm grateful to those that choose to test. Thank you. I find it strange that some choose to mock this, especially given that they too reap the benefits from others testing.

summerhaze88 · 20/10/2023 22:19

I've I tested positive last week... felt so much pain with my fibromyalgia to the point I couldn't move still trying to shake it off... week later I've tested negative but still got really bad sore throat... and I've gone really depressed 😔

HashBrownandBeans · 21/10/2023 08:33

Both me and my DH have had a new weird symptom this time round…sore nipples!! How bizarre. Mine are so bad I feel pregnant

Anyone have thick mucous that they can't cough up? And it blocks your airway temporarily as you're trying to cough it up?

Yes. I haven’t tested for Covid yet though.

CurbsideProphet · 21/10/2023 12:49

I've got covid for the first time. Feel so weak and wobbly, had horrific earache / headache earlier in the week, weird night time panicky palpitations, smell / taste vaguely coming back after 5 days, snotty, iffy tummy, travel sicky type feeling. I wish it was just a cold 😬

FuzzyPuffling · 21/10/2023 14:20

I've lost all sense of smell and am getting weird heart reactions...sudden doubling of heart rate, lasting 30 mins or so. ( I have arrhythmia/ valve problems to start with). Not pleasant.

Neiiighbour234 · 21/10/2023 15:38

I am 11 days post first symptoms. Tested positive for 5 days, had a temp for 4. Still feel exhausted, still coughing - like breathing irritates my chest and sets me off. Still get breathless and have headaches. DH has it too, he has been wiped out - really tired.

And the cherry on top of all of it is that I just got a cold sore - happened last time too (December 2021), my immune system is shot trying to get rid of it I think. Really hoping I shake it off OK this time, I was left with chronic sinusitis last time which needed surgery to deal with!

Just trying to rest to try and get rid of it, but house really needs a clean 😫

Daz2424 · 21/10/2023 16:08

Started with symptoms on the 4th October tested positive on the 8th so today i'm on day 18.
Still not right .Still feeling dizzy and tired with no energy at all. And a few other symptoms ie ear sinus pressure etc.
Ended up at the doctors thursday with severe all over back pain and limbs going numb and tingly . Doctor said this is normal as covid causes inflamation and it attacks muscles and the nervous system.
Hopefully the worse is over and I can get back to feeling normal soon.

Smiley444 · 21/10/2023 17:45

@Bertiesmum3 I tested positive for 14 days last year, back when you had to produce 2 negatives in a row before going out. This time, I tested because I like to know what illness I have, but I didn't need to keep testing. You can legally go to work with Covid but obviously you haven't had this variant... you won't feel like going to work! And yes, I do work with vulnerable people. I had a week off in the end and I'm still suffering with tiredness and a bad chest from it.

I’m on day 11 and still testing positive with a dark line that’s showing up quickly.

My had still feels full and I’m coughing but much less.

But. And I know this is TMI

Has anyone else hit the pooing acid phase?
Every time I try and eat or drink I’m on the loo within 10 minutes and the pain and burn is excruciating.
My stomach feels not sick but sensitive to touch like it’s been punched and I want to just rub it in circles to stop the sensitivity but oh dear god the pooing. Sorry!

The only thing that I can take at the minute is mashed banana on wholemeal toast and water. It’s been 4 days of this bit.

Daz2424 · 23/10/2023 15:59

Hi verv
I was exactly the same.
I'm on day 20 now

still have bad reflux cant keep much down 😢 but the pooping has stopped and im still foggy with a dizzy head. Weak limbs .
Can't believe how long it's lasted. My daughters think I'm now faking it 😳

Bellabluea · 23/10/2023 23:21

I’m on day 5 and pretty much back to normal thankfully- still a bit weak and tired but vastly improved!

llareggub · 24/10/2023 07:28

I’ve just had it. The symptoms lasted 3 weeks with the second week being the absolute worst. The cough was the main feature, which impacted my sleep and made me feel utterly dreadful. Avoid at all costs!

Daz2424 · 24/10/2023 12:55

Yes I agree the 2nd week feels worse.
I will be 3 weeks from start of symptoms tomorrow.
But am also wondering do you count the days from 1st symptoms or positive test day, which for me was 4 days later .

Chedderbites2 · 24/10/2023 14:41

Hi everyone just tested positive today but my dc tested positive 2 days ago so was to be expected I guess. He is quite young but just has a slight chesty cough ( as far as he tells me anyway). For the past 2 nights I've had some insomnia which is new for me and my stomach has just felt 'off' can't quite put my finger on it - no diahorea almost like nausea feeling. My main symptom on day 0 is sore throat and tiredness. Wondering what else to expect? Hope everyone's keeping well.

Daz2424 · 24/10/2023 16:28

Hi Chedderbites2
Yes insomnia was a symptom for me. Its only these past few days since my symptoms are going that I can actually sleep through .
I had constant nausea and vomiting literally couldn't keep anything down That's got a lot better past couple of days too.
This was my first time having covid and it literally wiped me out.
Hopefully you feel better soon

Chedderbites2 · 24/10/2023 17:57

Hi @Daz2424 glad to hear your nausea and vomiting is calming down, it must have been awful. How many days are you now post positive test/symptoms beginning? I have had it twice before but I never had any symptoms just had to test for work. Pain relief doesn't seem to be working for the sore throat either its very strange.

Crikeyalmighty · 24/10/2023 18:01

I've had it just before going on holiday to california at around day 10. (Testing negative then) it's left me with a nasty intermittent cough and feel like I can't get enough air in chest and throat plus a bit weary and lots of sneezing and mucus down back of my throat - not nice, especially as it's quite hilly where we are
