It's horrendous isn't it? Could do with a Covid buddy so I feel less alone!

Just got up, still have pounding head, hate not knowing when i can get back to work. 11 days since symptoms started. Tried everything to feel a bit better. Every little task exhausts me. Plus can't afford to not work, SSP is minimal. I work with vulnerable people, apparently I can return even if positive if i feel well enough. Don't think that's right but i don't feel able anyway.

Wonderwife · 10/10/2023 06:41

No end to this, starting another day with pounding head.

Smiley444 · 10/10/2023 08:53

That's terrible @Wonderwife sorry to hear you're still so bad. Anyone else waking up covered in sweat through the nights? And sore throat that feels like glass.

Day 3 for me, though I tested Sunday and got a very strong line almost instantly so I guess I'd had it for a couple of days? Had been feeling very tired/run down, it was when my throat began to hurt that I thought I should test. Was due to start a new job yesterday, we've pushed it back by a week, really hoping it's enough time to feel better. I sweated buckets last night, my bed was drenched this morning, never had anything like it.
I had a booster jab in June.

I work from home, thankfully, but my productivity is through the floor. I’m freelance, so the bank balance is suffering!

8stone13 · 10/10/2023 15:20

I started feeling a bit off-colour last Weds eve. Thurs & Fri had mild gastro & cold symptoms. Overnight Friday into Saturday my heart rate went insane & ended up nearly hospitalised. Stayed at home & rested completely. Yesterday I had the headache to end all headaches. I actually feel much better today - the day I got out of bed, found an old test & it came up positive!

I'm 48, very fit & healthy, very rarely get a cold. Have had all the jabs & a booster 2 weeks ago (I'm a carer.) The heart issues were shocking.

Wishing everyone better soon 🙂

quietlyspoken08 · 10/10/2023 23:44

I started feeling ill Sat. Tested Sunday morning took a while to come up but positive. Had terrible headache, muscle pain, stomach pains, sore throat and clothes soaking when I wake up in the morning. Tested today and line came up very very quickly. Really hoping it doesn't last too long

dessicatedblackbird · 10/10/2023 23:48

I have the same wired feeling I had last time. Like I am on some massive 90's comedown and it feels like I may never sleep again.

My work says you can go back after 3 days

Wonderwife · 11/10/2023 09:32

Still testing positive after 10 days. Slightly better but extremely tired still. Quite anxious feelings at moment which is not like me.

Comefromaway · 11/10/2023 09:40

Yes, it feels like a very heavy cold. I started with a sore throat, then had a day of lethargy/tiredness/achiness then I started sneezing a lot. I'm back in work now as policy is to go in if you feel well enough (plus everyone else in my office has either just had it or has a family member at home with it). I feel fine, just have no voice!

BlastedPimples · 11/10/2023 09:52

Yes. Been positive since last Friday. My 5th time. This has been the worst and as a newly single parent with no help.

  • Runny nose
  • lots of sneezing
  • a headache that has stopped me from sleeping and made me cry until I found paracetamol in the house
  • every single joint aching for three days. I couldn't move for two days without great discomfort.
  • raspy cough

And now I feel very weak and depressed.

BlastedPimples · 11/10/2023 09:53

Oh and slight nausea.

Wonderwife · 11/10/2023 13:13

The headaches were someting else, mine eased today which has helped. I ended up with viral pneumonia from the covid, was passing out when it was at it's worse. Easy to feel like you not going to get better but 10 days on and I am turning a corner. Still very tired though.

FrillyGoatFluff · 11/10/2023 14:10

It's bloody awful this time.

Started with sore throat on Friday, felt shit on Saturday, couldn't stay awake, didn't test positive until Monday morning but then spent all day either on the bathroom floor curled in a ball with stomach cramps (genuinely felt like labour pains) or on the toilet with terrible diarrhoea.

Yesterday, felt miraculously better, wiped out, but functional, but am back to looking 6 months pregnant and diarrhoea again today.

Only got a slight cough, but my brain is wiped out, I can't seem to string a proper thought together.

It's shit!

BoobyDazzler · 11/10/2023 14:18

Me! Came back from holiday with it on Sunday - along with dh and all the people we went with.

Massively tired and cognitively uselessness
slight cold symptoms
headache
lower back pain

BlastedPimples · 11/10/2023 15:40

I keep thinking I'm ok. Then I'm not. Utter fatigue.

Then I think I'm taking the piss and skiving off work and then I feel awful again.

HashBrownandBeans · 11/10/2023 15:45

I’ve been working through the sniffles the last two days as that’s company policy, so been busy infecting everyone in the office of course. I’m too sick to work today so have tested and it’s positive. 🙄 Can’t get my thoughts in order and can barely move. I get no sick pay so this will fuck us up for weeks now.

Smiley444 · 11/10/2023 16:37

How's everyone doing and what day are you on? I'm on day 4 and short of breath, nausea, loss of appetite, insomnia, clammy sweats still, chesty cough. I feel horrible. Still in bed. You?

Wonderwife · 11/10/2023 16:50

Hi, day 10 still positive but definitely feel improvement at last. The first 5 days were the worse, there was no let up, fevers were horrid, not being able to sleep makes it worse too. Think this new strain of covid has taken a lot of people by surprise. Noticed that it's massively on increase but nobody really mentions it on tv anymore.

Smiley444 · 11/10/2023 16:56

Agree this is worse than I've had it before. How did you know you had viral pneumonia @Wonderwife ? I'm glad you're starting to feel better. I hear you about the fevers and the insomnia. Also, I can hear a roaring in my ear.

Went down with it,2 weeks ago Monday....first time! Have been told by youngest daughter and friend similar age (70s) the first is the worst. Not had so much as a cough or cold, for well over 15 years,in fact cannot remember the last time.. have been in contact with kids, grandkids when they have tested positive. Never had a positive test or symptoms before (am on the covidence study for 5 years) The very first symptom was I couldn't sleep at all. Then headache, aches pains, pyrexial 39.7c, raging sore throat, cough, nauseous, diarrhoea, stomach pains. No sense of smell or taste.Unable to sleep or even sit still, very agitated. Not thirsty, but Pu ING a lot. Feeling a bit better, but one thing, vacuum,I will have to go and sit down, feet up.living on microwave meals ATM.

Nannyfannybanny · 11/10/2023 17:05

Oh yes, forgot the loud tinnitus and dizzy.

CircleWithin · 11/10/2023 19:02

Sorry to hear you all have it. It's rampant at the moment. I got ill last Saturday and tested negative. By Wendesday DH was also ill and I said to him 'I'd swear if I hadn't tested negative I'd say this was covid'. Said to a friend 'I haven't felt this bad since I had covid in 2021'. Anyway, tested again and it's covid. I know loads of people with the same symptoms who haven't tested.

At first it was aching all over, fatigue, hot and cold sweats, generally feeling shit, slight tickly cough, crazy tinnitus and nausea.

11 days in I'm testing negative but can only manage half a day at work before I run out of steam. I feel fine sitting in bed then think I must be well. It's mental effort that tires me as much as physical. I'm also feeling a bit out of sorts and borderline anxious which I hate. Feels a bit like PMT. It makes me better reading about people with the same symptoms as it makes me acknowledge that this will pass.

Wish we could pay for the vaccine.

CircleWithin · 11/10/2023 19:03

Oh yes, forgot the brain fog and dizziness - they are actually my main symptoms!

BlastedPimples · 12/10/2023 08:28

Still feel wretched on day 6. My boss is going to have raised eyebrows.

This is the worst Covid I have had. After all the physical pain has faded, I have Zero energy. Never known fatigue like it. Crushing headache. Thank god the tinnitus has gone.

What is the best away to try and repair?
