It's horrendous isn't it? Could do with a Covid buddy so I feel less alone!

Hi ,
I tested positive on Saturday with a sore throat , tickly cough , bad headache. I haven’t felt too bad and was able to work from home and do chores. But today I feel awful , temp , tummy pains and jelly legs ! It’s all very strange as I am on day 5 …

Sweetie1980 · 18/10/2023 17:21

Also have an on/off sore eye .. 😩

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 18/10/2023 17:38

I’m on week 15. Totally exhausted. Brain no longer exists. Can’t do anything.

FuzzyPuffling · 18/10/2023 18:22

Me. Tested positive this morning. Feel utterly grot.

It's the first time I've had it, caught it from DH. First time for him.too as we were shielding/ very careful. We both have ongoing conditions.

Sweetie1980 · 18/10/2023 19:05

TV @FuzzyPuffling sorry to hear you have it too . How long did you take you to get it from your husband? Just wondering how long it takes to catch this variant

QueenofTerrasen · 18/10/2023 19:21

Me. Tested positive last night.
Scratchy throat, burning nostrils, stomach cramps, high heart rate, sore chest, cough, very high fever. Absolutely awful.

He felt a bit off from Friday and got a positive test on Sunday evening.
I had negative tests on Monday and Tuesday and felt OK, then 3.30am hit me like a ton of bricks. I had a very strong pos test this morning.

So maybe 3 days?

WLAH · 18/10/2023 20:38

Symptoms Fri. Positive Sat am
Husband symptoms Mon. Positive Tue am

FuzzyPuffling · 19/10/2023 07:31

Has anyone else got sore eyes? Both DH and I have that gritty feeling and weren't expecting that..

WLAH · 19/10/2023 09:44

Eyes ok here
Just pressure back of head

Sweetie1980 · 19/10/2023 09:57

@FuzzyPuffling apparently eye irritation is listed as a new symptom . I had sore eyes .

Londonnight · 19/10/2023 10:15

I have it for the second time this year. Really severe sore throat and coughing and runny nose. Overwhelmingly tired. Day two for me, line was much stronger than yesterday on the test, not sure what that means.

I live on my own which is really difficult when you are sick.

I got mine from someone at work who thought it a good idea to come in and cough over everyone 😷

Peterpiperspickledpepper · 19/10/2023 11:55

2nd time with Covid almost 3 weeks ago. Was 90% recovered with long Covid from Nov 2020 although have ended up on heart meds because of it. Had the vaccine 10 days before I actually caught it from work this time. Recovered quite quickly initially although it seemed to spike my asthma a bit. Ended up doing too much and got a feeling I’m heading for a relapse. Due in work Sunday night and dreading it tbh.

Verv · 19/10/2023 13:16

Yep I’ve got it.
Hit on Saturday.
huge head cold, constant snot, dizziness, coughing, sore eyeballs, bad headaches, no energy and just sleeping loads.

todays new twist - nausea a permanent feature. Has been intermittent for the past couple days.

my face hurts all the time like a constant pressure.

im also having mad dreams whenever i sleep.

afrikat · 19/10/2023 14:23

Tested positive today. Been feeling rough for a few days but I have ME so I always feel rough 😕 Mainly throat, sinuses and head. V tired (but always tired!) Husband tested positive on Tuesday. He's worse than me today and he NEVER gets ill. Supposed to be going away for half term on Sunday and not looking likely 😪

MidnightN · 19/10/2023 19:48

I tested positive on Monday, pretty strong line straight away. First symptom was aching all over, slight sore throat. Then the next day I felt awful, full cold symptoms plus a banging in my head almost like an electric shock.

my tests won’t budge from a dark pink line, 4 days running now. Just hoping it’s a little fainter tomorrow so I can see an end in sight.

this bout is much worse than my Jan 2022 covid.

I cannot imagine ever having energy again. I'm now negative after a week but wiped out.

This is me. Three weeks in. GP won't do anything until it's many many more weeks. I can't get anything done!

What day is suitable for going back to work would you say? I mean, when you feel better... but I was still testing positive on day 14 last year...

You don’t have to be off work now, and why test when you’re not required to??

Peterpiperspickledpepper · 19/10/2023 22:18

@Bertiesmum3 are you the testing police ? She said she tested positive on day 14 last year.
Maybe she works in healthcare or with vulnerable adults. In any case why are you on a Covid thread if it doesn’t matter to you ?

Regardless of where you work, you’re not required to have time off!!
🤣

TopBitchoftheWitches · 20/10/2023 12:15

I have to have time off if positive. Currently five days and two negative tests.

Neurodiversitydoctor · 20/10/2023 12:23

DH positve on Saturday, I tested positive Wednesday am. Main symptoms are fatigue, headache and sore throat, runny nose, the odd chill. Think DH was similar. He tested negative today. I had the booster a month ago today.

FormationLap · 20/10/2023 13:04

@Bertiesmum3 our policy is to stay off work if producing a positive test...

Bellabluea · 20/10/2023 13:47

Tested positive yesterday. Third time. Feel like absolute poop especially as I had a rare afternoon out planned today. I work in a hospital (non patient facing role) and am due on night shift Sunday. We have no cover so I’m going to have to go in - note technically I can phone in sick but I’d feel awful about it. Policy is to come in unless unwell and it goes on sickness records.
I’ve started today with gastro stuff which is all very unpleasant and I’ve gone through an entire loo roll with snot 😫😫😫
solidarity 👋

Movinghouseatlast · 20/10/2023 14:18

Yes. I feel utterly horrific with it.

I actually think this is not sustainable to be this ill multiple times a year potentially. There's no way I can work- I'm self employed so its kind of OK for me but what about people who are off work for a week then again a few months later?
