It's like a really bad flu for me followed by months of aches and exhaustion and catching everything going. Had it twice now. First time took me 12 months to fully recover. Two months later I got it again. Five months and counting this time.

ssd · 21/09/2023 10:00

Ive had friends had it recently and its definitely not a cold. They were absolutely floored and felt awful.

Hope everyone who has had it or still has it feels better soon Flowers

Covidwoes · 21/09/2023 10:01

I had it last week for the 4th time, and am absolutely exhausted this week. Back to work (teacher) and am so so tired. Food also tastes weird.

VeridicalVagabond · 21/09/2023 10:04

I got lucky I think, I just had an upset stomach and mild fever for a few days (so obviously didn't even know I had covid because at the time I wasn't aware gastro symptoms were a thing), then it was just like a bad cold for a week or so.

My husband was absolutely rotten though, such a bad fever I was scared he was going to burst into flames, vomiting, dizziness, weakness, horrendous cough and trouble breathing at times... took him weeks to recover fully. And this is a strong, fit, healthy man who's been vaccinated and had all his boosters! It's mad how it impacts people differently.

Namechange20100 · 21/09/2023 10:05

I have it now and it's awful. Worse than when I had it last time.

My body hurts all over. My head is pounding. My throat is sore. Hacking cough. Temperature. Every time I sleep I have the worst nightmares I've ever had.

My glands have swollen up under my chin so my face hurts. My ears hurt. Even my teeth hurt.

Looked in the mirror this morning and it looks like I have two black eyes.

I can't remember the last time I felt so ill.

Minor things include blocked and runny nose. Sneezing.

piscofrisco · 21/09/2023 10:37

I'm on day 4 since testing positive. Temperature has finally come down and throat feels a bit better. But my balance is off, I feel exhausted (but can't sleep) and I've got an upset stomach and a biblical headache.

I had it at Easter and couldn't even get up for two weeks so this is not as bad but it's still shite.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/09/2023 11:16

It's 11.15 and not had a hot sweat yet, that's an improvement. Just tried some food and it tasted absolutely rank.

Slight improvement today. But brain fog/fatigue still intense…

Poormepoorme · 21/09/2023 11:56

Hope everyone feels better soon!

Ithh · 21/09/2023 13:18

I feel worse today. The government and media are definitely covering this up. This isn’t a mild cold. It’s closer to full on flu. My body aches, head aches, eyes ache and my throat feels like it’s got pins in it. Paracetamol doing nothing. Not felt this rough since thI first time I had it. Certainly couldn’t go to work.

Quenchs · 21/09/2023 13:47

Has anyone had the cough only start once they're feeling better? Or am I going to go downhill again?

We are all positive, we thought it was a sickness bug at first as mostly gastro symptoms then full body aches, feeling weak and shaky and headaches kicked in. I feel better today, I'm eating and keeping it down and I don't feel like I've been hit by a truck anymore but my throat has started hurting a bit and I've started coughing a bit? Seems weird when I'm beginning to feel better. I'm preemptively salt water gargling and doing a saline nasal rinse every couple hours in hopes it doesn't get worse. We go abroad on Monday, or are supposed to Sad

Hope not because I feel better today (day 5) and haven't really had a cough...I don't want one now!

LaMariposa · 21/09/2023 15:38

5th time here. Daughter started with it, then shared with us all.
Bloating and weird stomach first, then the low down sore throat and chest pain. Burning sensation in nose, quite mild, and a loss of some smell. A temp on day 3 (Tues) finished work early and still off today. Now it’s become more of a snotty cold. I work from home so will log back on to do a bit tomorrow if the brain fog allows. I’m simultaneously bored but have no energy to do anything.

Yes I had no cough, but sneezy and coughing yesterday.

I feel worse today has small improvement for an hour or so and have been asleep all day. Had another fevery sweat , I'll be glad to see them go. Dreams are so bad I'm waking myself up shouting.

I had it early 2021. Had a day or 2 of feeling awful then felt better but was left with some fatigue for a few weeks.

I have it again now and it is so much worse this time round. I have been feeling it for days, have horrendous back pain with it, which if I cough or sneeze I have shooting pain. I feel like I have a really bad cold and a bad stomach too. I feel sick and queasy but also hungry. My stomach feels like bad period pains and I haven’t had a period for 2.5 years as gone through the menopause. I am very tired but can’t sleep because of the back pain and I can’t do a proper cough because of that, so I am doing small coughs that doesn’t really do anything. I started feeling unwell Monday and just thought it was a bad bout of hay fever as I was sneezing a lot but didn’t really feel like it was anything other than hay fever. Since then my back pain and cold symptoms have got a lot worse and today the stomach issues and feeling sick have been added on. Day 2 of staying in bed for me. Just wish I could doze off and catch up on some sleep.

I have had 2 vaccinations, both before I had covid the first time.

Interesting what you say about not being able to sleep, that was so odd for me. I've spent most of today asleep so hope you're the same as I feel better / different for it.

How long before first onset of symptoms did you test positive? DD has had a sore throat for 2 days but has tested negative both days. She's now got some body aches. No fever. It's tricky as she has an immune condition which can give similar symptoms so it's hard to know if it's the beginning of Covid or not.

4 days and sore throat and aches were first sign.

Thank you @MrsPelligrinoPetrichor
She's only in school part time but I know one close friend has it & she was with her earlier in the week. We'll test again tomorrow. Think time to discuss bringing her mask back out 😞

Poormepoorme · 21/09/2023 19:34

I tested positive the first day I started feeling really ill. It came up very quick and strong.

PinkRoses1245 · 21/09/2023 19:50

It’ll boost your immunity. And it sounds like flu which loads of people get and no one makes a song and dance about it

Quenchs · 21/09/2023 19:57

Cough has well and truly started, thought I'd got away with it as I feel better apart from that and the glands under my chin killing.

Can the cough go quickly or does it always last weeks Sad

It doesn't though, same as having the flu doesn't boost your immunity. People do 'make a song and dance ' about flu that's why people are immunised against it.

Yes, teeth! My teeth and jaw and gums and even my skull ache. It's in my bones. Lower back is agony.

Notverywellatm · 21/09/2023 20:24

Similar symptoms but do have a painful chesty cough. Trust me to get it when the weather turns cold.
