I don't know if it even is covid what I have, was putting it down to a parasite DS had on holiday which I must have caught but im getting a sore throat with it now too- will be testing when MIL drops a test through tonight- im nearly in to my third trimester of pregnancy, not sure if I should be concerned or not

Shadypaws23 · 23/09/2023 23:53

I had it in January - immunocompromised and got antivirals
They helped but I rebounded so tested positive again, was on a virtual monitoring thing with o2 monitor and pulse etc

Rest was definitely the main thing, I have enough health conditions and was worried about LC so I put myself into bed and stayed there! Was off work for just under 3 weeks
Crazy how much it hit, on Christmas Eve I was doing a 90 min spin class, after covid I was doing 10 mins and out of breath
Caught it in a restaurant on Christmas Day

I’m almost 4 weeks on from my covid bout. My stomach is still upset, I still wake feeling achey and heavy headed and the cough is relentless. Really hope it buggers off soon as to be honest I’ve completely had enough of it now. I dread catching it again, I’m sure it’s doing something to our whole immune system and body, im sure repeated bouts of this over many years will lead to shorter lifespans.

Yes, getting repeated Covid infections is a major concern. I dread to think what effect 10, 20, 30+ infections will have on the body.

SmallBlueDinosaur · 24/09/2023 09:15

I'm on day 4, cough doesn't seem as bad touch wood but my god the aches in my ribs/back/stomach hoping once I've had a hot bath and painkillers and moved about a bit it will improve slightly

Poormepoorme · 24/09/2023 09:19

Day 7 here (?) and still super tired and headachey…

Poormepoorme · 24/09/2023 09:20

But to be positive temp is normal, sore throat gone, muscle aches gone, nausea gone, cough gone. So on the mend!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 24/09/2023 09:25

My aches have gone, no temp but I have a weird heavy headache feeling. Earache is easing too.

Day 6 here, no underlying health conditions. Feel completely exhausted and breathing isn’t great. Meant to be working tomorrow but absolutely no way I would want to share this with anyone, no way I would not isolate. work are going to be dangerously low on staff tomorrow as lots of people already off. Not good at all 😒

JerryLovesMargo · 24/09/2023 12:29

I tested positive for the tenth time about 10 days ago. It was one of the easiest yet for me (though I daresay after 7 jabs and nine infections I have some immunity!). I felt a bit hot/clammy and out of sorts for a day then was pretty much fine. I was well enough to have my eighth vaccine last week.

(Before anyone comments that ten infections 'proves' vaccines don't work - I'm immunosuppressed and vaccines don't work as well at preventing infection for me, but they clearly help with severity)

Eukanuba · 24/09/2023 13:54

Day 7 for me . Appetite has returned, just demolished cheese and crackers and some Monster Munch, eyeing up DH's Cornetto he's squirreled under the vegetable rice .

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 24/09/2023 18:46

I've been hungry today but no taste still so everything tastes of cotton wool.

I have a really weird swimmy heavy headache that I could do without. Earache is slightly better today. Day 6 today, thoroughly fed up and miserable.

OP posts:
Notverywellatm · 24/09/2023 20:26

I can taste sour things normally and tea but other things are a bit off. Sudden needs for naps. Chest has turned into a productive cough which is less worrying than the earlier stuff.

SmallBlueDinosaur · 24/09/2023 21:00

I am SO snotty! The slightest touch to my nice makes me sneeze uncontrollably! Aching everything's still, and still got a bit of cough, my chest feels fluttery/palpitations but that's not too unusual with me

SmallBlueDinosaur · 25/09/2023 09:03

Day 5 I feel quite a bit better in myself but a bit headachy and my chests a bit heavy

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 25/09/2023 09:10

I am dressed and am downstairs on the sofa which felt like a monumental effort. Day 7 for me. Still feel headachey and throat isn't right.

Poormepoorme · 25/09/2023 09:57

Day 8 I think and a big improvement today. Did some work for an hour or so and resting now. Mainly just tired now and can imagine feeling completely better soon.

Hope everyone feels better soon!

thankyouforthedayz · 25/09/2023 10:28

It's weirdly reassuring to read your updates! Day 6 today - had a bath yesterday, first personal hygiene since Wednesday. In the afternoon gradually cooked supper with lots of lie downs. And then last night the coughing started with a vengeance. I've told work I'll WFH tomorrow, but suspect will only manage half day. Today trying to make sense of the hot mess of the house and batch cook a meal.

Indiaorigin · 25/09/2023 11:37

A lot better today decided to take one more day from work. Doing half day tomorrow. Hard to guage starting again.

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 25/09/2023 11:49

Day 7 and starting to feel more human! No temperature, appetite is back. Still tired and very wheezy/coughing. Some dizzy spells but can get around ok.
DH seems to have had a bit of a relapse and is still feeling awful.
Hope everyone gets well soon.
Heard from a friend that a local school has had to close reception and send kids home because all the teachers are off with Covid! It is everywhere atm…

MagentaRocks · 25/09/2023 12:06

Feeling a little better today. Still knackered and back still painful but nowhere near as bad as it was. I am still weak and dizzy so won’t be doing much but it is good to feel a bit better.

AlienatedChildGrown · 25/09/2023 12:12

Just a heads up for the people suffering from dizziness!

If it goes on and involves any of the following

1 Actual falling over due to big rollercoaster feeling
2 Jumbled words when speaking
3 Not being able to speak for minutes or longer
4 Legs or arms not being co-operative, feeling weak

Beg a lift to your nearest emergency unit

From my experience of covid in August 2020, minor brain damage can occur. In my case the emergency scan showed up small holes in my brain due to a probable TIA. You may have to do your own own rehabilitation to manage the ongoing wobbles. But at least you’ll know why and you won’t get fobbed off with vague “long covid” explanations. If anybody does end up in a similar position I have hints and tips for recovery. It’s slow and frustrating rehabilitating yourself. But better than the alternative.

Also be careful at getting too confident about getting around with the wobbles even in the early stages. Cos I fell over when The Big One happened and my knee has never been quite the same since.

PS For the hungry/nausea combo try eating banana bread, but only when lying down. Don’t ask me why but it worked during covid just as well as it did when an unknown (and weird) virus flattened every teacher working at my school in BKK in the 90s with the feel sick/but hungry + dizzy symptoms.

Big Fat Hug (from a safe distance) to you all.

NotReadyForAutumnYet · 25/09/2023 13:09

@AlienatedChildGrown that sounds scary. Thanks for the banana bread tip. I'll try it. Very embarrassing when stopped by son's teacher this morning and had to excuse myself to barf. Part of our morning routine now is waiting whilst I pull over to retch or be sick! One of the lovely long covid symptoms that started shortly after my infection.

BooAutumniscoming · 25/09/2023 18:43

Jumping on the thread to get your daily updates.

I have just tested positive and have blocked nose and a bad cough. My chest and ribs also felt sore this morning.

Really hoping I don't get the aches and pains that I got the other 2 times I have had it.

ProfessionalCornflake · 25/09/2023 18:54

Also jumping on as just tested positive. Feels like a very bad cold right now, but the last 48 hours I've been in agony. Feverish, full body aches, my joints felt freezing and stiff. My back and hips are the worst today but thankfully everything else seems to be easing. Still running a temperature, coughing on and off, and my nose seems to be producing endless snot and sneezes.

Can I ask what is everyone's workplace policy on covid at the moment? Last time I had it, about 8 months ago I think, my line manager said vaguely there's no current guidelines (even though I work in a school) so it's just a case of normal calling in sick til whenever I'm feeling better or if I can make it in, I don't need to be testing negative. I feel like I could make it in dosed up with paracetamol as my day is fairly light tomorrow, but morally I don't want to be spreading it to potentially vulnerable people.

exLtEveDallas · 25/09/2023 19:04

Can I ask, has anyone had issues with their teeth with this infection?

Even though I have not tested positive I am convinced I have had it, or some kind of bloody awful cold that is mimicking it. Im feeling better 5 days on, but still have a horrible productive cough, snotty nose, headache and my back teeth are hurting like hell.

2 others in work who tested pos in the last week have also said their teeth/gums are really painful and I'm wondering if it's another bloody weird symptom?
