AIBU to wonder if WFH will return due to Kraken?

Hello :)

Although there is the encouragement of wearing masks again. Currently in this season we have flu, strep A, various viruses and now, Kraken Covid...

Am I being unreasonable to think that those, like me who were shielding will need to WFH rather than be hybrid? or do you think that Hybrid will continue?

TIA

I agree- when i first heard i thought of the monster Kraken from europe who comes at christmas lol

The what now from Europe? Do you mean the Krampus?

Those who are CEV have all had 4 jabs. Shielding is over but if you want to WFH you should speak to your employer not ask MN for permission

Very true, however, no permission was being asked. I just started a topic as it was on my mind. From what I read earlier it did say they are unsure if vaccinations will be effective for this strain.

Due to the economic crisis, cost of living, some employers may continue hybrid. However workplace covid risk assessments may take place for those who have been unable to be fully vaccinated due to medical reasons. Thus, just wanted a chat on the forum to gauge.

Think the media are saving that one for the next variant!

Overthebow · 05/01/2023 15:51

Don’t think there will be any wfh mandate seeing as we’re already part way through January. Surely it will just depend on your own arrangement with your employer?

It may very well yes.

It's the Christmas Kraken... 😂

ozoruk · 05/01/2023 15:56

Kraken covid - what a load of old BS, more crap to scare the public and distract from the dreadful state this country and the NHS is in.

FourTeaFallOut · 05/01/2023 15:59

A Christmas Kraken would generate a-mazing AIBUs. AIBU to think I shouldn't be tried to a rock as a sacrificial offering to the Kraken just because I don't want to send xmas cards this year?

FourTeaFallOut · 05/01/2023 16:02

Although that would be preferable to another round of shielding. Fuck that for a game of soldiers.

Proudofitbabe · 05/01/2023 16:05

I honestly couldn't give a fuck about "kraken" covid.

BeyondReleaseTheKraken · 05/01/2023 16:06

Okay kraken. 😆

Proudofitbabe · 05/01/2023 16:07

To answer your question I think guidance might be to WFH if able, if vulnerable and/or ill. I hope that's as far as it goes.

WaddleAway · 05/01/2023 16:12

Probably a bit late, from what I’ve seen the latest wave has already ‘peaked’. But I’m sure you could speak to your employer if you’d prefer to work from home.
I absolutely hate working from home so won’t be doing it any more than im already forced to!

Kevinyoutwat · 05/01/2023 16:13

I honestly think there are some people out there who want covid to last forever.

PIL have “locked down” again and are refusing to set foot out the door unless it’s for a 5am jog or see anyone (both just turned 70, both runners and in rude health). And whilst I am very grateful for that, there are people who’s mental health has been affected in a very bad way over the last few years.

I thought this was going to be about drinking rum when WFH 😂

Me tooGrin

BitOutOfPractice · 05/01/2023 16:15

I'm not WFH ever again.

Saucery · 05/01/2023 15:31

It’s ok. Godzilla Covid will defeat it.

😅

I thought that many people have not gone back to the office at all, hence the current crappy state of many company's services. Amazed that the companies concerned have not been able to make people go back to the office, as surely that is what they were contracted to do when they took that job.

I agree, and hope so too.

Sadly, one year ago, i had a virus then i caught omicron. I was in hospital and it was life threatening. Im sadly now nearing to be in a wheelchair and cannot do what i could before.

Life changed in an instant.

Its shocking really however, onwards and upwards.
