I'm positive for the first time after three vaccinations and I feel awful! Has anyone else avoided it for so long and been properly wiped out?

I have a bad cold, scratchy sore throat, slight cough, massive headache, dizziness and I ache everywhere. But most of all I'm just exhausted. I tested positive immediately on Wednesday and the line is getting stronger and I feel worse each day

I'm triple vax'd and had my 1st +test yesterday after 48 hours of horrifically sore throat but not much else, I mean a bit achey and tired (from the sore throat keeping awake all night) but generally not too bad APART FROM THE SORE THROAT! Feels like I've been gargling with razor blades Sad get well soon everyone Flowers

HardTimesHarder · 13/07/2022 13:23

The vomiting was awful for me yesterday. Every 10 minutes without fail and bringing up copious amounts of bile. Proper green bile not stomach acid. I went 3 days without managing to keep water down but I’ve had a lucozade and some ice cream today so hoping I’m on the mend

Madhairday · 13/07/2022 13:43

So sorry you've suffered with that too, @HardTimesHarder - I ended up in hospital with severe dehydration on Sunday.
Day 7 now and started vomiting again, not keeping anything down. So depressing after thinking that awful bit had passed. I feel so very very weak and still cant make it out of bed beyond staggering to the loo.
When will this end?🥺

Magic1231 · 13/07/2022 13:51

Oh bless your hearts! I feel like being sick but havent been actually sick just yet. I naively didnt think after 3 jabs it would be this bad, especially when you hear most people seem to be feeling better by day 5. I'm on day 6 and had to force myself to wash my hair, but feel so poorly in b

Magic1231 · 13/07/2022 13:52

But feel so poorly in bed again now*
The hot weather doesnt help does it xxx

Hippopotamousses · 13/07/2022 20:04

@Madhairday you poor thing, and I thought I had had it bad. I felt nauseous for the first couple of days but that has settled. Hardly any appetite still but I have been very thirsty which has kept me hydrated. Hope you feel better soon

OP posts:
Hippopotamousses · 13/07/2022 20:06

@Magic1231 same, a lot of people I know who have had it recently have been poorly for a few days and then totally recovered by day 5. I'm on day 7 and feel like it's one step forwards, two steps backwards

OP posts:
ToastedWaffle · 13/07/2022 20:07

Omg the nausea! I've nit been sick yet but my god, my gag reflex is doing overtime. Hope you all.start to feel better soon. I'm just thankful I have a bit more energy today.

Magic1231 · 13/07/2022 20:10

@Hippopotamousses I know! Everyone keeps saying oh you should be feeling better now then like I wish I did! But yeah, just my luck really haha, I think I'll test again on saturday just to see what it says, fully expecting to still feel the same and it say 'positive' eye roll xxx

NigellaAwesome · 13/07/2022 21:12

I had a better day today. Day 7 for me, and did a lateral flow. Straight to positive, so no sign of being able to get out of isolation yet.

I was able to do stuff in the garden and did some sorting in the garage. I had to sit down to do a lot of it, but the fact I could do anything at all feels like a win.

💐 to those still struggling, especially with gastro symptoms.

Hippopotamousses · 13/07/2022 21:48

Good to hear @NigellaAwesome. My test is a little fainter and didn't appear positive as fast. I haven't had much of a cough until this evening, and my chest is feeling heavy.

Hope we all have a better day tomorrow

OP posts:
greenacrylicpaint · 13/07/2022 21:50

if your chest feels 'full' try lying on your front with a duvet rolled up to support your upper body.

sheusesmagazines · 13/07/2022 22:09

This thread has made me feel better - my DC is suffering badly too. 3 year old DS has nausea and vomiting every day and had his worst day today, day 6, including a 40.5 fever. We were even sent to A and E but they weren't concerned. Hope everyone feels better soon.

I had it for the first time back in April and I wouldn't even describe the respiratory symptoms as a mild cold. I have worse symptoms from hayfever on high pollen days. I wouldn't describe those symptoms as even like a cold, just mildly irritating. But my god, the fatigue was something else. I didn't get out of bed for three days. 2 weeks later I went back to my gym and was debating how much to push myself, except when I got there I couldn't even get up the bloody stairs. I'm much better now but still not back to pre covid energy levels.

Whereas my symptoms were an extremely heavy cold with a low fever for a couple of days. No fatigue at all. The lingering cough wasn’t ideal but no worse than what I usually get after a cold.

Just shows that it’s different for everyone.

honkeytonkwoman38 · 14/07/2022 03:00

My husband has been wiped out by it. Testing negative daily but the gp says it's covid. I just got a nose ache and then nothing else. Weird!

MissCrowley · 14/07/2022 07:39

I'm like you @gwenneh but I didn't actually have a cold.
I had waves of feeling nauseous and was completely exhausted. To me it felt like a very bad fibro flare. It was scary and I said then there's no way that this is a "cold"

Hope you're feeling better soon OP.
I had one vaccine in October and had omicron in March so I doubt I had much protection against it.

SummersBreeze · 14/07/2022 16:06

I know someone who is a nurse and she can be cruel and heartless if you were sick. According to her and a lot of the medical professionals in the hospital she works at, she doesn't care about you or any illness that you may have if you can stand up and walk. They only care when you are falling down and nearly dead and it's only then they might Co spider helping you.

When the medical community describes covid as mild, they mean it's mild in the sense it probably wont kill you and you probably won't need hospital care. It can still be a rough dose at home though. I had covid last week and I am still not 100%.

I was reading another forum and a poster described covid as mild sniffles. The absolute fucking psychopath that he can't grasp that its different for everyone and there are people suffering with it.

greenacrylicpaint · 16/07/2022 13:54

day 13 now and taken a step back.

feel very weak and out of breath with an awful headache. I felt almost normal yesterday, went for a short (1mile) walk.
not sure if I will be fit for work on monday.

Magic1231 · 16/07/2022 15:55

I naively thought, despite still feeling ill I was a little better yesterday evening... well, right back to feeling absolutely awful again today 😭 xxx

LIZS · 16/07/2022 18:38

I felt worse on day 14 (negative by then) than in previous week. Much better now day 18.

HardTimesHarder · 16/07/2022 19:39

Sorry to hear lots of your are still ill. After about 6 days I felt almost healed. I’ve got a slight tickle in my throat and I’ve had to clear it maybe 5/6 times today but otherwise I feel fine. I’m hoping it stays that way

beenrumbled · 16/07/2022 21:10

Nearly 4 weeks in and I'm still hoarse and have awful rib pain when I move or cough etc. I'm exhausted and doing everything slower than I used to.

But I'm back at work as we have a huge project going live this week.

Hippopotamousses · 16/07/2022 21:40

I am now testing negative and I had a better day yesterday, but today I feel awful again. Sore throat, blocked nose, extremely dizzy, exhausted and stomach cramps which I hadn't had before. I naively thought testing negative meant I would be feeling better, more fool me!

OP posts:
Hippopotamousses · 16/07/2022 21:42

Hoping you all start feeling better soon!

OP posts:
Magic1231 · 16/07/2022 21:49

@Hippopotamousses oh bless your heart, I'm so sorry to hear how badly you're suffering. Feeling like this has really taken its toll on my mental health. How long have you been poorly? I guess if you are testing negative atleast you dont have to worry about isolating now xxx
