This is not a mild cold!

I'm positive for the first time after three vaccinations and I feel awful! Has anyone else avoided it for so long and been properly wiped out?

I have a bad cold, scratchy sore throat, slight cough, massive headache, dizziness and I ache everywhere. But most of all I'm just exhausted. I tested positive immediately on Wednesday and the line is getting stronger and I feel worse each day

Hope everyone on this thread feels better very soon!💐

TheDogsMother · 11/07/2022 11:56

I'm two weeks in and still have a cough, aching limbs, tiredness and stomach upset. The banging headache has finally subsided though. I was testing negative initially and I worry if I've spread it around. I hope I don't catch it again as it's been awful.

Thecatsatonthewalls · 11/07/2022 12:00

For some in Europe, a 4th jab is being offered to the over 60's, in the UK this is only being offered to over 75s.

The 4th Jab apparently offers far greater immunity against b4 and b5.

TheFairyCaravan · 11/07/2022 12:21

I should have said we’re tripled vaccinated too.

I hope everyone starts to feel better soon 💐

Anothernameforallthis · 11/07/2022 12:29

Me too, agree with you all, but don’t have strength to do anything other than wave weak at you from bed!

CheeseMaison · 11/07/2022 12:38

I'm double vaccinated and had covid twice before so you would think it would go easy this time around but nope. My second vaccine was back in March this year. My eyes felt it was burning with a knife stuck in it. The chills, the fever, the body aches have been bad but I'm on day 6 now. I feel so much better but have a headache today and to be honest I'm absolutely miserable as im missing out in this weather where we have a local beach. I might go out for a walk in the evening though, baby steps first.

IdiotCreatures · 11/07/2022 12:39

Latest symptom that started for me today is a random stabbing pain in my right eye.
And I am sick to death of the stuffed up ears they feel horrible and there is the random stabbing pain again!!

gogohmm · 11/07/2022 12:44

It varies so much from person to person but then so do colds. I had the original covid strain in March 2020 and it only cause a mild fever for the evening then I lost taste and smell for a week. Dp was similar but temp lasted a couple of days and he's never fully recovered taste and smell. He tested positive a few weeks ago for the second time but wasn't unwell (he was testing prior to visiting his elderly mother) I didn't catch it despite obvious exposure so think I may have asymptomatically had it and passed to him (I work public facing).

Medically it's mild even if you feel rough because you don't need medical help and it's fairly short lived

MyneighbourisTotoro · 11/07/2022 12:58

I think we’ve been lucky, I’ve had it twice and my DH once, it was super mild for us, just like a cold. I hope you all feel better soon!

Lolliesareonme · 11/07/2022 13:01

DH is CeV, he has had 4 jabs, had a 5th booked about a month ago, but cancelled as timing wasn’t right. He tested positive last Friday, slept a couple of days, not that bad, sore throat, slight cough and feeling cold. He had antivirals on his 5th day, and clear LFT day 7.

My Symptoms were the same as yours OP. I started last Monday - tested this morning, still as dark as it goes. Now I’ve just got stomach issues, sleeping a lot, and an erratic temperature. I’m sure he thinks I’m swinging the lead!

That said, I had it right at the beginning, and this time is a walk in the park compared to that. I had the horrendous breathing difficulties. I went to GP after 6 weeks and was given antibiotics, and told if I got worse to go to hospital. My breathing took about 18 months to return to normal. I take any symptoms over that.

IssaBaby · 11/07/2022 13:12

I hear you sister!
3 vaccines and I got a positive on Thursday. I spent 3 days in bed. The aches left me unable to even walk to the toilet. No amount of painkillers helped.

It has to be by far the MOST ill I have ever felt in my whole life.
Covid sucks!
I'm so careful, still wear my mask in public too. But it was gonna hit one day! I'm on day 5 and finally able to ear without throwing up. Couple more days and I think ill be ok

WombleOfWimbledon2022 · 11/07/2022 11:52

I feel quite embarrassed at how blasé I have been about it. Like many on this thread I have avoided covid until now (am triple vaxxed) and thought my immune system/vaccinations must be doing all the right things/maybe I had already had it and been asymptomatic/would be able to shake it off easily as I am fit and healthy.

Tested positive on Saturday, am on my third day of symptoms and getting worse each day. The leg cramps are unreal (I have been taking magnesium supplements for ages and they don’t seem to be helping here), chills and shivers, cracking headaches, sinuses burning/aching, bucketloads of snot and it’s now settling in my chest. Started getting stomach cramps too. If I get up to move around the house it feels as though I’m wading through treacle. Definitely not just “a cold”. The thought of doing anything more than slumping on the sofa makes me feel ill.

Other friends who have recently had it had very different symptoms though - one had a fever for a few days but nothing else, the other had a runny nose/extreme fatigue for a week. So strange how differently it presents in different people for no apparent reason.

Oh yes the leg cramps! They are just awful. The hospital doctor told me they're seeing a lot of those plus so many different symptoms. I just can't get comfortable with them at all though they're better than yesterday which was utterly awful even with IV painkillers 😭

Headbandheart · 11/07/2022 13:30

I had it for first time a month ago.
bloody awful. Wiped me out for 10 days plus. Jolly glad I’d had the vaccines.

i had some of the less common symptoms like very painful bowel cramping with vomiting and diarrhoea with a very sore throat for around 48 hours so thought it was weird tummy bug initially. Then the high temperature with shivers and aching kicked and so exhausted. I got a positive LFTat that point. I slept for pretty much 3 days solid . Luckily I’m retired and on my own so could completely stop doing anything and just go with what my body was telling me. There were points I had to force myself to go downstairs to get liquids to keep hydrated.

about 7 days in I did realise that hay fever (which I don’t normally get that early) was making the cough worse and probably sole cause of runny nose vs the covid symptom I thought it was. Taking antihistamine did them help the amount of coughing fits I was getting particularly at night. Worth having a look at that. and get strepsils or whatever to help that for a couple of weeks once you’re better with everything else- the coughing fits do drag on.

im now 6 weeks post covid and when I cough I still sound like a case of tuberculosis!

stay resting as much as possible and you’ll turn the corner soon.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 11/07/2022 13:42

First time I had it (Nov) I had a shocking headache that paracetamol didn't help, I was sleeping all the time and had a bad cough that triggered my asthma.

This time round (tested positive last night) I thought it had been a bad weekend for hayfever with a runny nose and sneezes and a bit of a headache. Only when I started with a hoarse cough did I think to test. One of the kids in my class has had the same cough all week, and another was off with covid so it's not a surprise. Just immense bad timing as it's the last week of term.

speakball · 11/07/2022 13:52

Just had it for first time. Tested positive last Tuesday. First two/three days were vile. The worst shakes I've ever had. Nausea, stabbing pains in muscles and joints. Day 7 and now just feel vaguely shit but still have a poor appetite, cough and can't do more that 10 mins activity without needed to sit.

teenagetantrums · 11/07/2022 13:56

I'm positive. Wouldn't even have know blut work in a care home and we all did a PCR test last week. I'm still testing negative on lft. It is really just like mild cold for me.

Deadringer · 11/07/2022 14:09

I am on about day 5/6, first time having it. I have never had flu so nothing really to compare it with except a very bad cold. I had extreme fatigue and brain fog for the first couple of days, then cold symptoms, running nose, insane volcanic sneezes, and like pps my eyes feel weird, slightly blurry, dry and wet at the same time, just weird. Oh yes and no taste or smell. Dh and dd have coughs and sore throats, we all have the same thing but their experience is totally different. Oh and I didn't test positive til day 3/4.

Nerdygirl · 11/07/2022 15:43

Of course you are going to feel rough, you do with a heavy cold and if you have ever had flu you literally feel like you are dying. I am not saying it doesn’t make you feel bad but I think as a society we have forgotten how to feel
ill

@Nerdygirl I think you've hit the nail on the head. It seems from many of these comments that people are surprised when they feel ill, just because they were vaccinated (with a vaccine designed with an older strain for reference) some people seem to think they will have few/no symptoms.

WhisperGold · 11/07/2022 16:31

@NigellaAwesome concerned about your eye floaters. I had those and they were symptom of detached retina, medical emergency. Please get checked.

I had Covid very mild, and am unvaccinated. One of my more disapproving friends sounded disappointed that I was not suffering with it.

Thewayshetalks · 11/07/2022 17:16

Repeatedly testing negative here but both daughter & husband tested positive Wednesday & Friday so I presume I do have it, for the first time, fever started today, feeling tired but still worked from home, it’s the health anxiety that gets to me. That’s the one thing I can’t deal with

BloodyHellKen · 11/07/2022 17:35

@XenoBitch that's not a nice attitude for anyone to have towards you, let alone friend.

Hippopotamousses · 11/07/2022 18:57

@Nerdygirl that is a very good point. I think as well from my point of view, I haven't caught the normal coughs and colds as normal due to WFH and social distancing, so perhaps I have forgotten what it is like to feel unwell.

@XenoBitch that is a horrible response from your friend, I am glad if any friend or family member of mine has a mild case

I have it too.
started with spots in my mouth and feeling tired on Wednesday, absolutely knackered on Thursday but thought it was due to life. Slept for 10 hours and felt loads better.
On Friday I got a hair in my throat and cleared it except it didn’t clear.. it felt scratchy. I tested at 7.30pm and by 9pm I had a fever.

awful on Saturday 41 degree fever, vomiting, coughing, headache. Sunday I felt a bit better mostly nauseous. Today I’ve been vomiting but pretty much no other symptoms. I hope it ends soon
