Hi my husband tested positive today , he's been in bed most the day banging head and high temp. He's not vaccinated an im so worried he is going to get really ill 😭😭 he's normally fit and well x

OP posts:
Heythere13 · 12/04/2022 06:58

No judgement from me

But no escaping fact that his decision not to be vaccinated does have implications on others in all likelihood

Most vaccinated people have had it much worse

They really haven't. confused

I agree. I am not vaccinated and had zero symptoms.

All my vaccinated friends and colleagues bed ridden for days.

And l have experienced the complete opposite.... so we "cancel" each other out...

Luckily, science doesn't depend on competing unverifiable anecdotes.

My DH had it at very beginning before vaccines. Needed hospital treatment. Has recently had it again after two vaccines and a booster and was a mild cold. Conclude what you will re vaccines. Hope your DH is ok OP.

Hesma · 12/04/2022 07:01

I had it December 2019 and was so ill I honestly thought I was going to die and nobody knew what is was then. Prepare yourself for a potentially awful 2 months and then a good six months exhaustion. Second time with vaccine was like a bad flu for a week. Why on earth are you not vaccinated?

adriftabroad · 12/04/2022 07:02

This is not a thread about vax vs non vax arguments, it is about OP worried about her un vaxxed normally healthy, DH.

People are reasurring her of the likelihood of him feeling slightly rough for a few days but nothing more.

To insult him, say you hope he will be ill and to call him a 'selfish moron' is vile.

OP, hope he's feeling OK this morning and gets plenty of rest.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 12/04/2022 07:08

how would we know op
he might be ok
he might not

Tasteslikeregret · 12/04/2022 07:08

@MintyMoocow

Well I hope the silly, selfish sod is quite seriously ill.. so there!
Fucking hell. It’s one thing to think it but quite another to type it!

Whilst the OP has not framed it as such a debate

Of course it’s going to go in to hay territory. As the evidence is clear that without vaccination, it is likely going to be more serious

Which has implications on others…. Namely healthcare professionals and potentially taking up a bed

Heythere13 · 12/04/2022 07:13

* Well I hope the silly, selfish sod is quite seriously ill.. so there!*

But phrases like this are cruel

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 12/04/2022 07:13

Omg the vaccination nutters are still going strong.
Hope your husband is OK I'm sure he will be fine .
I had flu many years ago ( not vaccinated!) And I was knocked off my feet.
We shouldn't be terrified of illness, that's an illness in itself

Narutocrazyfox · 12/04/2022 07:15

Myself + my 4 other family members are not vaccinated. We've all had it twice, and it was very mild. Try not to worry OP x

icanonlydosomuch · 12/04/2022 07:16

@WouldYouIfYouCould

I’ve had it twice. Unvaxxed. First time was pretty bad but had it a couple of weeks ago again and it was mainly just a sore throat. Honestly, my vaxxed friends have suffered much worse with it.

Really?

Indoctro · 12/04/2022 07:16

Ever unvaccinated person I know who have had it have been perfectly fine.

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 12/04/2022 07:25

@adriftabroad

Surely you realise by now that vaxxed or not makes no difference? (If he is relatively young and healthy and not overweight)

He'll feel low for a few days.

I take it you've not seen the news from China, and how they have needed to increase restriction when omicron hits a largely unvaccinated population?

Most people will not require hospitalisation whether vaccinated or not.

But when the difference in rate is between about 9% and 3% (unvaccinated v vaccinated populations, earlier variants) of course it matters

beastlyslumber · 12/04/2022 07:26

I reported your comment @MintyMoocow. What a horrible, horrible thing to say.

Mumofboys109 · 12/04/2022 07:28

This new variant is very very mild. Good job he didn’t get the alpha or delta because if he’s feeling rough with omicron then alpha probably would have killed him. Very silly not to be vaccinated and I hope he learns from it. He will be fine.

Parker231 · 12/04/2022 07:31

@IEatChocolateForBreakfast

Your husband will be fine! My DH and I are both unvaccinated. We've both had it twice since Feb. Extremely mild. Honestly barely even knew we had it. Most vaccinated people have had it much worse.
Are you a doctor or virologist?

You’re comments are medically incorrect. You may still get Covid if you are vaccinated but the vaccine lessens the chance of you becoming seriously ill.
Hard to believe so long some people still don’t understand how the Covid vaccine works.

FuckeryOmbudsman · 12/04/2022 07:37

Hard to believe so long some people still don’t understand how the Covid vaccine works

That's because everyone who was an armchair epidemiologist/virologist in the last couple of years and is now expert in military strategy, diplomacy and international finance

onetimeonlyipromise · 12/04/2022 07:39

I hope he's ok OP.

You'd face this anxiety and uncertainty whether or not he was vaccinated, but I'm sure you don't need the internet telling you that the things that you are worried about are statistically more likely to happen.

Now is a good time to make any arrangements you might need to for the next week or two. If he is unvaccinated, he is more likely to pass the virus on to others, including you. Make sure you have provisions in, etc, in case you and anyone else you live with gets struck down.

Kennykenkencat · 12/04/2022 07:41

@BruceAndNosh

Most vaccinated people have had it much worse

They really haven't. Confused

Dd didn’t know she had it (awaiting her turn for being vaccinated when she had it last year.) Those that had been vaccinated did have it much worse than her
MargosKaftan · 12/04/2022 07:44

He'll probably be fine after a few days, but being unvaxxed puts him higher risk of being one of the very few who are not fine, so please keep an eye on him. Lots of fluids.

BruceAndNosh · 12/04/2022 07:44

People have the right to remain unvaccinated. I'd prefer they were jabbed but I can't insist.
But I'd prefer they didn't spread frankly dangerous misinformation.
Your anecdotes are all very well but the FACTS are that as a group, unvaccinated people have worse outcomes.
Insisting that Most vaccinated people have had it much worse is incorrect and irresponsible

(a few people seem to have interpreted my earlier statement the wrong way)

oakleaffy · 12/04/2022 07:45

How on Earth can you spout such nonsense like “ Most vaccinated people have had it much worse”

Classic anti vaxxer nonsense.

Blimecory · 12/04/2022 07:46

My adult dd had it before the vaccination rollout, and she was extremely ill and was hospitalised. She was in her 20s and very fit. There’s no knowing how it’s going to affect you.

Sally090807 · 12/04/2022 07:48

@Kite22

Why isn't he vaccinated ?
That’s not really any of you business is it.
