Hi my husband tested positive today , he's been in bed most the day banging head and high temp. He's not vaccinated an im so worried he is going to get really ill 😭😭 he's normally fit and well x

OP posts:
MissConductUS · 12/04/2022 01:28

Is Paxlovid available in the UK? If he's just come down with it that would help him clear the virus.

bluebird3 · 12/04/2022 01:34

There is a bit of survival bias going on here. It's not like the unvaxxed people who died from covid are coming on here to say so Hmm.

But yes, as other have pointed out the statistics are in his favour so I hope it's mild and he's better soon.

DSGR · 12/04/2022 01:38

@adriftabroad

Surely you realise by now that vaxxed or not makes no difference? (If he is relatively young and healthy and not overweight)

He'll feel low for a few days.

Total nonsense
BrizzleGuts · 12/04/2022 02:00

I'm sure he will be fine. Vaccinated people have died. It's not the deciding factor of getting very ill or not.

timeisnotaline · 12/04/2022 02:06

@IEatChocolateForBreakfast

Your husband will be fine! My DH and I are both unvaccinated. We've both had it twice since Feb. Extremely mild. Honestly barely even knew we had it. Most vaccinated people have had it much worse.
I guess it’s not a lie if you believe it, but that’s completely untrue. I think there have been sufficient millions of COVID cases by now for statistically significant data on this. Just a little.

But statistics also say the enormous likelihood is that the ops partner will be absolutely fine, so try not to stress op!

ifyouturnonthelight · 12/04/2022 03:06

He really should consider getting vaccinated. All the Covid patients on the icu I work on are unvaccinated.

I would get a a sats monitor and monitor his oxygen levels very regularly. High temp isn't a big concern it's the o2 levels and difficulty breathing.

TurningUpMyStereotype · 12/04/2022 03:34

He’s normally fit and well so it’s unlikely he’ll be very unwell.

I’m not vaccinated and got covid recently. I did feel ill but not too bad, the body aches were the worst thing but they only lasted a couple of days. The symptoms were different every day, sometimes a headache, temperature, nausea and tiredness but a couple of weeks on it’s all gone other than a bit of a cough. My partner is vaccinated and had a similar experience but did recover a bit faster than me.

Try not to worry, chances are he’ll be fine.

Piper22 · 12/04/2022 03:39

Well more fool him.

hamdden12 · 12/04/2022 04:20

I tested positive last week and I'm unvaccinated. 40 years old with no health problems and after the initial aching and chills the first two days I was fine. The only lingering symptom is fatigue but I guess that's normal after any virus. Make him rest up, even when he starts to feel better because he'll still get tired easily.

Monty27 · 12/04/2022 04:30

@Kite22

Why isn't he vaccinated ?
Wrong topic there's a covid topic somewhere.
Monty27 · 12/04/2022 04:31

Anti Vax I should say

oneproudmumma · 12/04/2022 06:08

Hi, I'm unvaccinated and DH is triple vaccinated. Early 40s. Both had it recently. Only difference was I had a sore throat and he was breathless. Mine dragged on a bit longer (a few days) but bizarrely less severe.

Both have high BMI but no other issues.

Hope your DH will be fine OP. Please don't worry.. Rest, fluid and paracetamol and / or ibuprofen. X

boronia · 12/04/2022 06:15

I hope he's going to get it lightly.

It seems to be a lottery as to to what degree people suffer with it, vaccinated or not.

Must tell my daughter who works in a rehab unit with recovering covid patients, all unvaccinated, that vaccinated people get it worse.

clarkkentsglasses · 12/04/2022 06:16

I am not vaccinated and tested positive for Covid with no symptoms.

clarkkentsglasses · 12/04/2022 06:19

@BruceAndNosh

Most vaccinated people have had it much worse

They really haven't. Confused

I agree. I am not vaccinated and had zero symptoms.

All my vaccinated friends and colleagues bed ridden for days.

Unless you can link to solid evidence, I'd say that is a ridiculous statement. Everything I've read is that the majority of people hospitalised are unvaccinated
Egghead68 · 12/04/2022 06:31

If he takes a turn for the worse get on and ask for some of the medication from the GP

No medication is available outside of hospital apart from for a very select group of people with specific medical conditions.

And l have experienced the complete opposite.... so we "cancel" each other out...

EarPlugAfficionado · 12/04/2022 06:34

@Kite22

Why isn't he vaccinated ?
Because he has free will
marihen1 · 12/04/2022 06:50

I'll second what a few have said. I'm unvaxxed and had it twice, mild symptoms both times, felt a bit like a cold. All of my friends and family who have had it whilst vaxxed have all had more symptoms than i did and took longer to get over it.
Hopefully he is fine OP. Probably needs to just rest until he feels better.

Beeheart · 12/04/2022 06:54

I think those asking why he isn’t vaccinated have a point. The OP suggests she is mainly worried because her DP is unvaccinated, so she’s aware her husband could get quite poorly due to this.

If that awareness is there, and no other medical conditions that would make him more susceptible to being really poorly (otherwise I’m sure this would be said, instead of ‘unvaccinated’), why not vaccinate in the first instance?

Beeheart · 12/04/2022 06:55

On the contrary, I wish him well OP.

Heythere13 · 12/04/2022 06:57

Whos business is it if you are vaccinated or not. Some people are so rude.

Well I suppose the healthcare professionals that may have to be involved that otherwise would not have been had he been vaccinated?
