Now mandatory isolation has ended, will you isolate if you know you're positive?

Yes or no?

For myself, yes (I'm CEV so will qualify for free symptomatic testing). While I have LFTs left I'd also stay home for a few days if asymptomatic and positive, and reschedule any appointments/outings etc.

Absolutely no judgement from me whatever you choose, I'm just curious!

If and when I get Covid again I’ll pop back here so those that think I should be isolating can cover my wages. If not, I’ll be off to work (assuming I’m well enough) as I don’t get sick pay.

I’m a teacher and school have asked that staff and pupils continue to isolate if they know they have Covid so I would if I’d tested and knew that I had it. They cannot legally enforce it though. I don’t think tests will be available for much longer though so I might not know.

Haha yes.... who will put their money where there mouth is???

TheKeatingFive · 26/02/2022 10:34

Well it's very easy to throw around the word selfish, isn't it?

Much more difficult to actually engage with people's situations and try to help them.

EducatingArti · 26/02/2022 10:48

I don't get sick pay. I'm self employed. I'm on a low income. I am currently actually isolating with Covid.

I'm sure the usual suspects will all pitch in!

I'm not quite sure what your point is? Perhaps what's possible for you isn't possible for others.

Will you miss bills/rent as a result for example? Even if so, surely you can see that some people would decide not to put themselves in debt and danger. Would you condemn their choice?

ChocolateRiver · 26/02/2022 11:04

I can fully understand not isolating if you’re not going to be paid. Particularly with all the price rises. I’m in the fortunate position to be paid, but don’t consider those selfish if they can’t.

I've just had covid. It was a cold plus tiredness which I worked through although had to clock off work early (from home) some days to take a nap! I won't be paying for tests in the future, but even before covid I had a hybrid working arrangement, and generally wouldn't go into the office with a bad cold, would just work from home. So will continue doing that.

@ItsSnowJokes

Yes cos I'm not a selfish wanker.
