Now mandatory isolation has ended, will you isolate if you know you're positive?

Yes or no?

For myself, yes (I'm CEV so will qualify for free symptomatic testing). While I have LFTs left I'd also stay home for a few days if asymptomatic and positive, and reschedule any appointments/outings etc.

Absolutely no judgement from me whatever you choose, I'm just curious!

It’s fairly easy for me to stay home as I work from home anyway. At the moment the school and my DH work are asking them to continue symptomatic testing and isolating if positive.

However, if my children are required to be at school and my husband is working, if I am positive then I’ll have to do the school run.

Probably would also go out for fresh air if any of us were positive.

Whiterose23 · 24/02/2022 19:26

Yes I will and my work guidance also hasn’t changed.
My daughters school has just emailed guidance and they are to remain at home whilst infectious.

Chloemol · 24/02/2022 19:27

Yes of course

And tbh if I know my colleagues have come into work with it I would not be happy whatever the circumstances

It maybe selfish but I would rather lose money and protect colleagues and service users than pass it on

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 24/02/2022 19:29

I wouldn't know I was positive. Got no tests left.

LittleSnakes · 24/02/2022 19:29

I won’t be testing anymore so won’t know.

Jules912 · 24/02/2022 19:31

Yes but I can mostly work from home so won't lose out financially. I would probably do the school run if I couldn't find someone to for me as, assuming they're not also positive, DC have missed enough school already. My work and DCs school have both Dias they expect people to follow the guidance.

WishIwasElsa · 24/02/2022 19:33

So if someone couldn't pay their rent etc without their wages they are a selfish wanker for not isolating. What should they do, stay home lose money not be able to pay vital bills potentially not have a home to live in due to rent arrears then be assessed as intentionally homeless as their is no longer a need to isolate do be turned down for any help. Yea well selfish

Overthebow · 24/02/2022 19:33

I’m surprised at everyone saying they will isolate. How will you know if you have covid? Will you be buying tests?

I worked out that to carry on testing out household as much as we do now it’ll cost us around £60 per month which I’m not prepared to pay, so I won’t know if any of us have covid or not. So none of us will be isolating unless properly unwell in which case we’d be staying in anyway. Otherwise we will just be going about life as normal.

BeenToldComputerSaysNo · 24/02/2022 19:35

Yes

lavenderfine · 24/02/2022 19:36

No because I won't get paid for the first 3 days of sickness as is my work policy. I only work 3 days a week and I can't afford to take a week unpaid (can't work from home in my job either). Other than that though I'd be staying at home as I would usually if I was poorly

Truth.

Reckon there will be an awful lot of virtue signalling going on .... 'oh I isolate if I have a sniffle... well I isolate if I've been within a mile of anyone with covid.... why wouldn't I?... it's no hardship.... people are so selfish' etc etc etc.

momiamarichman · 24/02/2022 19:39

Yes I will isolate if I'm actively symptomatic however if no symptoms and I do find out i'd just avoid seeing people I know are vulnerable whilst still going about my commitments.

FairyCakeWings · 24/02/2022 19:40

I’m fairly certain that my boss will still expect me to be in work if I’m well enough, so yes. If I’m in work, I may as well be anywhere else I want to be. It’s unlikely that I’ll know though because I won’t keep testing.

tigger1001 · 24/02/2022 19:41

It's no longer a black and white question. People won't know if they have covid or not if they are not testing. And once testing costs people money less and less will test.

If I'm unwell I will stay at home. Otherwise I will be at work. I won't be testing unless I need to.

I had covid in January. I was one of the unlucky ones who tested positive at day 10. So full isolation period done. After day 10 though nobody cared whether I was positive or not (was still positive until at least day 12).

FairyCakeWings · 24/02/2022 19:42

I answered wrong, I mean no!

matthancockslovechild · 24/02/2022 19:42

Nope!

RonaLisa · 24/02/2022 19:46

No, but it's irrelevant as I have never tested myself anyway so wouldn't know whether I had a positive test or not. If I felt really unwell, I wouldn't feel like going anywhere. This has always been, and will remain, my benchmark, and has nothing to do with Covid.

Scottishgirl85 · 24/02/2022 19:47

I will stay at home if I'm ill, carry on as soon as I'm better. I won't know if it's covid.

Our 2 young children have covid at the moment. They have literally sneezed, snotted and vomited all over us and shared our bed. Husband and I are still testing negative and have no symptoms. I'm done with treating covid any different to any other illness.

LuckyMeISeeGhosts · 24/02/2022 19:47

No

RedCandyApple · 24/02/2022 19:48

No but I won’t be testing and never have so 🤷‍♀️

over2021 · 24/02/2022 19:50

No, I have started a new job and don't get sick pay in probation so every day off work will cost me £180 (NET!)

User5438965 · 24/02/2022 19:52

I won't know as I won't be testing, never done a test so don't know and don't care if I have had it anyway

TellMeMoreHellebore · 24/02/2022 19:55

no! of course not! nothing selfish about doing something you need to do. most people won't know they are positive anyway due to no tests or just not feeling unwell....the spread will worsen from just today alone. nobody will put their finances at risk
worriedatthemoment · 24/02/2022 20:08

Yes if I know I have it but may not know as when I did have it I only knew as tested because ds had it
Luckily where I work they have said for us to work from home if we are ill at all incl colds etc if we can so as not to bring things into the office , and have said for us to take the days off as before with covid As well but we do get paid for that and some in the business can wfh so we are lucky
But with less testing many just won't know they have it

Katya213 · 24/02/2022 20:12

I worked with a guy today who is positive, slight cold but still testing positive.
