Now mandatory isolation has ended, will you isolate if you know you're positive?

Yes or no?

For myself, yes (I'm CEV so will qualify for free symptomatic testing). While I have LFTs left I'd also stay home for a few days if asymptomatic and positive, and reschedule any appointments/outings etc.

Absolutely no judgement from me whatever you choose, I'm just curious!

Yes, definitely. I think the companies I work with will insist on testing anyway (healthcare of sorts). My while family feel the same, including the 20 somethings.
We've all had it, very mild, but would want to protect others.
Having said all that, I do realise that we have to learn to live with it...

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 24/02/2022 18:53

Yea I will stay home, and keep my kids home.
As although we don’t legally have to morally we should. Saying that I would take kids out for a run around outside someone quiet

leafyygreens · 24/02/2022 18:56

Yep

But I can wfh so no loss of income, no young children, home is comfortable and safe (if bloody freezing) place to be. I appreciate for others it's a more complex decision.

ItsSnowJokes · 24/02/2022 18:58

Yes cos I'm not a selfish wanker.

Lazypuppy · 24/02/2022 18:58

I wouldn't isolate, but probably only go out if i needed to. Only properly stay in if i'm actually poorly and would be home anyway. If not i'll treat it like any other illness. If i was going round someones house i would let them know, same as i do with a cold, so they can make a decision they are comfortable with

lunar1 · 24/02/2022 19:00

Yes, just like I don't go out with any other contagious illness.

Yeahbutnotreally · 24/02/2022 19:02

Yes.

Reading all the other threads, and seeing that the majority of posters won’t, is terrifying when you have a CEV loved one and work in a public facing role Sad

savehannah · 24/02/2022 19:03

Yes and no. I am working from home and mostly staying at home right now as I tested positive but I am driving my kids to their clubs etc where im not going to get out of the car. Also I will not be testing in future unless I have symptoms. So I will not know I am positive unless I am actually ill.

ItsAlwaysThere · 24/02/2022 19:04

Yes, I will but I think tests will be less common so that's if I know I'm positive. I'd keep out of other people's way if I have flu too, like usual.

Iusedtobeasister · 24/02/2022 19:04

No. Not because I’m a selfish wanker but because if I’m well enough to go to work I have to. I don’t get paid for sickness

DearlyBeloathed · 24/02/2022 19:05

Depends how terrible I feel.

Buzzinwithbez · 24/02/2022 19:10

I'm not sure I'd know if I had it?
When I had it, it was a sinus headache, which I'm prone to anyway.

Thesearmsofmine · 24/02/2022 19:12

I will because I can without losing out, DH won’t as long as he feels well because of loss of income which was an nightmare when he caught it before,

InFiveMins · 24/02/2022 19:14

Yes I would. But I have the luxury of being able to WFH if I want or need to. I can totally understand those who don't have that luxury who will go out to work if they test positive because they need the money.

Overthebow · 24/02/2022 19:14

I’ll stay in on I’m actually unwell, but if I’m well or just have a mild cold I won’t isolate. I won’t be testing once we have to pay for tests so I won’t know if I have covid or not, so will just be treating illness as I’ve always done.

CIaireFraser · 24/02/2022 19:15

@ItsSnowJokes

Yes cos I'm not a selfish wanker.
Many people don't get paid if they don't work. Not sure calling them selfish wankers for having to pay the bills is fair really.

WorriedMillie · 24/02/2022 19:16

Yes!!

Monsterathai · 24/02/2022 19:16

Well as I won't be testing how would I know? We all had it and didn't really have any symptoms- we just found out as there was an outbreak in my child's class and we were all asked to test. I would have never isolated with the levels of 'symptoms' (practically nothing) that we had, so I'm sure in future there will be more people everywhere with covid.... imo it's preferable to this whole circus continuing though.

Nanalisa60 · 24/02/2022 19:16

Yes , I hate it when people turn up at work sick, or go to the shops coughing and sneezing. I will definitely stay at home if I get Covid again just as I would if I had a bad cold or flu.

Monsterathai · 24/02/2022 19:17

@ItsSnowJokes

Yes cos I'm not a selfish wanker.
Just a wanker then? Grin
ItsSnowJokes · 24/02/2022 19:18

@CIaireFraser yes, me being one of them, but I still morally couldn't do it as you don't know who you could harm. My mum is CEV and we have been so careful with her, I extend that courtesy to others as well.

CosmicComfort · 24/02/2022 19:18

NHS here, guidance hasn’t changed at work. We still test and isolate if positive.

HermioneWeasley · 24/02/2022 19:20

I’ll work from home and not go to restaurants or the gym, but I’ll go out for walks etc.

CIaireFraser · 24/02/2022 19:21

I think it's good that if you do have mildly ill DC they won't have to be cooped up in the house for days on end. Getting out in the fresh air for walks/exercise as a PP suggested is bound to be better for them, particularly if you can do that somewhere quiet.

That said, I'm relieved as a CEV immunosuppressed person to see that lots of people would stay home if positive. But I don't think you're a 'selfish wanker' if you don't!

think this is the reality for most
