Mine is insomnia. I am so very tired (as expected) but I can't sleep.

What other delights have people had?

I am fully jabbed with boosted before Christmas. I am assuming omicron as my DD aged 8 also has it as does almost half of her class.

Anyone able to get out jail early or is everyone doing the full 10 days?

pigletpie2177 · 29/01/2022 20:23

I can't stand the taste of vinegar or anything vinegar based! Bit into a sandwich which had branston pickle in it and wanted to rip out my tongue - it smells and tastes totally rotten. Ditto mango chutney, gerkins and vinegar itself, which smelt like bin juice 🤮

Other than that it's just been a head cold

happydays00 · 29/01/2022 21:16

I'm fully vaccinated plus boosted too. Fairly adamant I got it from DD who got it from school (50% of her reception year currently off with covid).

I've got a cough but my worst symptoms are painful sinuses, ear ache and a dry, sore eye. My daughter (5) has no symptoms at all and is bouncing around the house. Waiting for the results of DH and DS's PCR

alpaca44 · 29/01/2022 21:24

Weird sinuses. Stuffy but not blocked nose.

mermaidgiraffe · 29/01/2022 21:31

I felt absolutely dreadful for a day with usual symptoms then at night I had an extremely weird sensation in my skin all over my body and vivid dreams. I was tossing and turning all night, so hard to explain but it felt like my skin was crawling. Never had such a bad nights sleep.

Throughabushbackwards · 29/01/2022 21:32

I've had it twice - original variant in March 2020 and omicron in Nov 2021

Extreme fatigue
Foggy head
Restless legs
Insomnia
Swollen joints
Out of whack periods
Lungs ravaged (first time round), consequent low blood oxygen and constant breathlessness
Loss of taste/smell both times
Lost my voice for 2 weeks with omicron

The vaccines also caused several of these symptoms after each dose. It's been a thorough delight Confused

DontTellThemYourNamePike · 29/01/2022 22:43

I had what I can only describe as pressure or fullness in my head, especially when leaning forward and was very lightheaded for a couple of days before I tested positive (today🙄). It was so hard to pinpoint exactly what the feeling was though - it kept getting away from me if that makes sense! I haven't described it very well. I suppose I felt a bit disconnected from myself.

Someone mentioned dreams. Both DS2 (who tested positive yesterday) and I have had very vivid dreams before the positive result. DS2 also had sore eyes and what he described as electrical popping at various points on his skin!

JanglyBeads · 29/01/2022 23:04

I got an itchy scalp, and my small hot flushes disappeared for a couple of months!

ChristmasPlanning · 29/01/2022 23:11

I've had really odd dreams too, also had a high temperature for days so presumed that was why

HoldenCaulfieldismyhomeboy · 29/01/2022 23:42

Every single one of my teeth hurt! Toothache in the whole of my mouth, that was a strange one. Only lasted about 20 minutes though.

ella84736907 · 30/01/2022 00:16

i’m wondering whether i should get checked by doc as i’ve heard reports of heart problems after covid. I had a high heart rate for a couple days especially noticeable at night and one night i had chest pains for about 20 mins

ella84736907 · 30/01/2022 00:16

but this was all over a month ago now and no other symptoms since really

ella84736907 · 30/01/2022 00:19

my friend had exactly the same thing don’t worry!

Elmoliveshere · 30/01/2022 00:26

Conjunctivitis, productive cough for 4 weeks.

MrsHGWells · 30/01/2022 01:10

One night my bottom jaw and teeth felt like they were in a vice, intense pressure overnight, next day gone.
The sinus pain across forehead is horrendous.. like a really bad hangover, without the beverages.

Insomnia yet tired & mentally unfocused.
Coffee smells great, tastes foul. ground hog day, no sleep, no joy to enjoy a fresh brew.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 30/01/2022 01:34

I’ve had covid twice and both times developed tinnitus which I’ve never suffered from before. It’s driving me mad as it stops me sleeping. Last time it lasted 2-3 weeks after so I’m hoping it’ll be the same this time and stop soon 🤞

thaegumathteth · 30/01/2022 01:35

Interesting about the extreme hunger because ds (15) who usually goes off food when I'll are like a horse. Otherwise he was shivery and a temp and just felt awful for a day or two

Dd tested positive on Wednesday. Has a sore tongue but other than that so far just an extremely slight runny nose and very occasional cough.

I tested positive on Friday with no symptoms but now have the burning sinuses, sore neck / shoulders (that might not be related tho), bit of an upset stomach and yes, insomnia hence me being on here at 140am

thaegumathteth · 30/01/2022 01:38

Also ds had one vaccine and presume delta because it was start of October.

Dd and I have I presume omicron because it's rife and her primary is full of covid. She's too you g for vaccines. I've had all 3.

malanimo · 30/01/2022 08:22

This is my 2nd time. First time was 2020 pre vaccines. I've now had 3 vaccines (booster mid Dec) and feel dreadful. Long list of symptoms but the weirdest seem to be:

  • vomiting
  • bloody nose
  • insomnia
  • everything tastes metallic/chemical like varnish

I feel just as bad (if not worse) now as I did the first time which is a bit galling after 3 vaccines (and this supposed to be milder variant).

Oh and writing this has completely wiped me out Confused

MrsMuscle1 · 30/01/2022 10:04

My contract states full sick pay for about 5 weeks a year if i remember correctly.

I'm panicking about whether this also includes covid. I've asked management and no response Friday. It feels like they are being shady.

I mainly WFH and I did all of Tuesday and Wednesday with my DD 4yo after she tested positive Monday evening. I also started with some symptoms Monday evening but didn't get my positive til Friday morning after over 24 hours of high temp and cough.

On the Wednesday I asked to take Thursday and Friday as AL as I don't get paid for time off with child. Impossible to keep working with DD as she was getting more lively.

On Friday I let them know I'd tested positive so they said they'd update the system. I'm hoping this means Friday is now classed as sick and not AL. We are both still testing positive with last day being Thursday if we aren't negative before.

I could probably keep working if it wasn't for DD being here but I do keep having coughing fits. I will need to be off at least the next few days if not the next 4 for worst case.

If it's in my contract for sick pay is this likely to include covid? I need to know whether to apply for the SSP although it'll kill me if that's the case and I'll need to work out how to survive on a week less money next pay day 😩

MrsMuscle1 · 30/01/2022 10:06

Sorry posted that here instead of creating a new post!!!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 30/01/2022 12:38

@MrsMuscle1 sick pay covers sickness - whether that is covid or a broken leg. Some places have special Covid policies (eg my work is currently not including Covid absences towards your “sickness score”) but if you are sick you should get sick pay.

Drivingbuttercup · 30/01/2022 20:15

Ds had spots like chicken pox but i cant be sure as dd had chicken pox just over three weeks ago so we'll never know, unless he gets them again.

The skin on my face has been tingling all week.

moita · 01/02/2022 10:07

Smelling cigarette smoke (no one in the house smokes).

Blinding headache.

Skin was so sensitive to touch.

It was pretty awful to be honest

nowtygaffer · 01/02/2022 10:30

Thanks for starting this thread OP. I have actually found it quite reassuring! My strange symptoms are:

Insomnia

Lower back pain

Really hungry first couple of days

Really emotional and weepy!
