Anyone else done now?

Know I'll get slated but I'm so past caring.

Anyone else just completely done with it now? Ran out of LFTs ages ago and I'll never do another again, wouldn't even go for a PCR now with symptoms tbh. I'd stay in until I felt better like I do with everything else and then crack on.

The only reason I wear masks in shops is because of people moaning if you don't. As soon as it's no longer required that'll be in the bin.

I actually took it really seriously the past two years and did everything we were supposed to. Triple jabbed etc etc... But I can't be arsed giving it anymore headspace now. I'm sick of hearing about it, sick of seeing it on the news, sick of people talking about it.

From today on I highly doubt I'll ever voluntarily think about Covid again, in a way that restricts anything I do anyway.

What I won't be doing ever again - no testing, no masks, no not seeing groups of people.

VeryMuchSo13 · 22/01/2022 20:30

So when you had norovirus did you stay at home for 48 hours after the end of your symptoms?

Yes, because I was very poorly. I do the exact same when I'm ill with other stuff. But if I'd have it mildly I wouldn't have known. If I'd just had a bit of a tummy ache, or mild diarrhea I'd have thought nothing of it and got on with my shit. I'd not have tested the minute I got a tummy ache, or refused to leave the house just in case it was a mild or symptomless case of norovirus.

I didn't go to work for 48hrs because I was very poorly with it and knew exactly what it was. If it had been milder or symptomless then no I wouldn't have like literally everything else.

VeryMuchSo13 · 22/01/2022 20:32

Sometimes I feel sick randomly. Sometimes I have an hour or two with the runs randomly (or if I've eaten a load of crap!). I don't refuse to go anywhere for 48hrs every time.

@VeryMuchSo13

Honestly after two years calling people selfish isn't the drop mic moment you think it is. Yes okay I'm selfish for just wanting to get on with my normal life. Yawn.
Absolutely this. Not sure why people keep on with the 'you're selfish' bollocks. Ok I'm selfish, thanks for the input.

Agreed.

The word selfish is so overused it is now just meaningless.

@BillMasen

Will a “I’m done” poster tell me what they’re now not going to do.

Not stay at home is asked to?
Not wear masks if asked to?

"Asked to" by whom?

I'm not sure if you're keeping up, but there will not be any 'stay at home' orders again. Even a 'mask mandate' is unlikely. Time to move on. Obviously, you can stay at home and wear a quadruple mask for as long as you like.

Sparklingbrook · 22/01/2022 21:10

Whitefire · 22/01/2022 21:10

Some situations I might wear a mask if specifically requested. If I was at work at the moment I would probably still be wearing one if seeing vulnerable people. I have a mammogram next month and will probably choose to wear one then because it can all be a bit up close and personal. General day to day, then no I won't.

And the ventilation!
Sparklingbrook · 22/01/2022 21:24

Oh yes, sit there in your own home with your HEPA filter mask on, with all the windows open, just to be on the safe side. And wait for it all to blow over.

Neither of those things are going to happen again, because this government is simply not in a position to attempt it. Especially not the stay at home part. I mean, can you actually imagine? They'd be laughed out of office.

In answer to the question though, in a parallel universe where the Tories hadn't spent lockdown having more parties than Freshers Week, I'm not that arsed about masks really so I'd probably keep wearing one. Particularly in a scenario where it might cause an already harassed service worker any inconvenience if I didn't. I won't be staying at home, well maybe if my friends and relatives are at mine but otherwise no. I became non-compliant with the legislation limiting who I can socialise with a very long time ago. That would continue.

IcedPurple · 22/01/2022 22:28

What I'm slightly worried about is that some companies have saved a lot of money and hassle by doing online 'events' and the like. They might be reluctant to go back to normal and will use the excuse of 'keeping you safe' to continue with subpar service.

TheRainbow · 22/01/2022 23:03

@Alysskea

Devastating that this is the attitude. Friend of mine in early 20s lost her (vaccinated) single mum to Covid, dead within 9 days of symptoms. She has no other family here; what can I say to her?

She probably caught it off someone who was 'done' and thought wearing a mask was too much effort.

Sympathies for your friend and I agree with what you're saying. This is a horrible thread. Selfish people never like to be called selfish, will never understand others points of view. These 'I'm done' posters are the regular same posters that have been saying 'I'm done' since March 2020 - unfortunately they have shouted the loudest throughout.
CafeConLechePorFavor · 22/01/2022 23:06

Keeping up fine thank you

If you believe there will be no more “orders” to stay at home or wear masks, what exactly are you done with? Would you refuse to comply if orders were re-inroduced?

I agree with a pp. not a nice thread and full of non-compliance. My hope was that the “done” people would still have a shred of consideration and whilst getting on with their lives would at least do it in a mask. It seems not

I’m very happy to be one of them. Because I saw the Fear Factor for the baloney it was from back then. Fuck the government telling me who I should see and their ‘only leave home once a day’ garbage.

This is typical

You saw it all for the fake it was and nothing government is going to tell you what to do.

BillMasen · 22/01/2022 23:15

*No government

How’re you feeling now that you know the government were laughing at you for following the rules and guidelines so diligently?

Furious as they should have followed them

Are you saying that the government was fine to break them as you did (?) and that somehow proves it was fake?

You sound petulant with your “no-one is going to tell me what to do”

KurtWilde · 22/01/2022 23:21

Selfish people never like to be called selfish, will never understand others points of view. These 'I'm done' posters are the regular same posters that have been saying 'I'm done' since March 2020 - unfortunately they have shouted the loudest throughout.

The fact is people have no clue what us 'selfish' people have sacrificed over the last couple of years in order to protect perfect strangers. You don't know if we're HCP that you were once upon a time clapping for and we're at the end of our tethers, or retail workers who carried on filling your delivery orders while you peeped from behind your lace curtains too afraid to go out, or small business owners who watched their savings disappear as their business went bust thanks to lockdown and had to sign on to support their families, or people who have been suicidal throughout due to weeks and weeks of isolation and cut off from our support network.

You don't know, but you call us selfish anyway, because you think we still owe strangers what little bit of ourselves we've still got.

Well no. We don't.

If you wish to carry on with your masks and what not, then do so. But you're going to look like a bloody idiot when you realise you're one in a hundred and then one in a thousand and then one in ten thousand .. and so on, as the rest of us grasp back little bits of our lives until we at least resemble something whole again.

Sparklingbrook · 22/01/2022 23:22

For me the 'I'm done' relates to the mental toll this has taken and I am looking forward to not battling through every day worrying about all this.
When the mask restrictions lift I will carry one in my bag for when I deem it necessary and helpful to wear one, it will be my decision.

As for staying at home if the restrictions are also lifted and you don't have to isolate then I am sure my work will say I need to go in.

BillMasen · 22/01/2022 23:23

Grasping back our lives sounds a lot like taking back control…

Whitefire · 22/01/2022 23:24

Masks are no longer going to be mandatory, people have, on the whole, done everything that was asked of them for the past two years, my DD is 16 in March, she reflected today that this year will be her first normal birthday for three years. I think more so because it is her brother's 14th tomorrow and her 14th was when things really started to take that massive dramatic turn.

So the selfish label is not fair and shouldn't be used as a beating stick. The general publics behaviour on the whole has been far from selfish.

There will be nothing to comply with any longer, so no one will be non compliant.
