Anyone else done now?

Know I'll get slated but I'm so past caring.

Anyone else just completely done with it now? Ran out of LFTs ages ago and I'll never do another again, wouldn't even go for a PCR now with symptoms tbh. I'd stay in until I felt better like I do with everything else and then crack on.

The only reason I wear masks in shops is because of people moaning if you don't. As soon as it's no longer required that'll be in the bin.

I actually took it really seriously the past two years and did everything we were supposed to. Triple jabbed etc etc... But I can't be arsed giving it anymore headspace now. I'm sick of hearing about it, sick of seeing it on the news, sick of people talking about it.

From today on I highly doubt I'll ever voluntarily think about Covid again, in a way that restricts anything I do anyway.

Say you’ll carry on your life, but continue with the measures that don’t really impact it please

No thank you.

In that case you are sefish
NothingIsWrong · 22/01/2022 19:21

I am. Done done done. My mental health and marriage are in the toilet after 2 years of this and I cannot continue to CARE about everybody else.

MarshaBradyo · 22/01/2022 19:22

In that case you are selfish

How long are you asking for people to make changes?

After two years of hardship is it really that easy to say you are not doing enough for me

tigger1001 · 22/01/2022 19:28

@BillMasen

I think if the “done” people said that whilst they wouldn’t restrict their lives, they would continue to take sensible precautions like wearing masks, then there would be more of an acceptance of their attitude.

So many seem to be saying g they’re done with anything. That’s the bit that’s considered selfish and a bit stubborn

Say you’ll carry on your life, but continue with the measures that don’t really impact it please

Once these restrictions are no longer a legal requirement you can't expect others to carry on with them.

Masks may not seem a big deal to you but they are to others. I hate them and actively curtail where I go to minimise wearing them when I can.

FatFredsFriedEgg · 22/01/2022 19:40

Yep, like everyone else I'm completely done with it and not giving it any thought any more.

And obviously that's why I'm reading (and posting in) the 'coronavirus' section of MN.

Confused

“ Say you’ll carry on your life, but continue with the measures that don’t really impact it please”

What if all the measures have an impact? Who are you to judge that they don’t?

I don’t personally have a choice about being “done” with covid as I am an HCP and the rules at work and the impact of covid and lockdowns/restrictions on my caseload will continue for a while, but it’s so interesting how people will assume that masks, distancing etc are easy and low cost measures for everyone.

Christ have you heard yourself?

Thanks but no.

Good job due to the term selfish being misused on the covid boards it hasn't anyy meaning anymore.

Crackingowlsanctuary · 22/01/2022 19:45

Totally agree with you OP, 100%

BillMasen · 22/01/2022 19:54

Will a “I’m done” poster tell me what they’re now not going to do.

Not stay at home is asked to?
Not wear masks if asked to?

DynamiteFilledRadish · 22/01/2022 19:56

It really has lost all meaning hasn't it! I read it now and think, and? I couldn't care less what some pious over anxious busybody on mumsnet thinks! Best thing is, they're always people who selfishly want others to abide by their (often made up) rules or be called selfish. The mind boggles 🤣

Seeing as restrictions are being scrapped anyway (or didn't you get that memo?) I'll be doing exactly as I'm now free to do.

As will everyone else I hope.

If you want to carry on like it's still 2020 then that's up to you.

I have no intention of taking a test to tell me if I do or don't have a virus, so I won't have to stay (the fuck) at home. I also gave up on masks a good while ago.

Anything else I can help you with?

Please can you explain what someone for whom all measures have a negative impact should do? Do they have your permission to be “done” with everything? Or have you decided what is easy for everyone?
MarshaBradyo · 22/01/2022 20:04

It’s interesting but unfortunate that some have become accustomed to demanding people to do things that are outside legal requirements.

I hope it ends soon

I have been so miserable over the past 2 years to the extent I’m only still here because of what it would do to my parents if I wasn’t. Living on your own not allowed to see anyone at all does something a person.

So yes I’m done with the restrictions and if that’s selfish then I need to be selfish.

Boofay · 22/01/2022 20:12

I'm done but only in that I am fed the fuck up of the pandemic. Doesn't mean I won't mask wear in shops, hospitals, public transport etc. I will test, isolate if needed and social distance from strangers.
You can be done with it all and still keep your own level of risk in place.

Well one thing is I've no intention of ever testing again so I'll not be isolating knowingly for Covid. Wouldn't even do a PCR with symptoms now tbh.

Honestly after two years calling people selfish isn't the drop mic moment you think it is. Yes okay I'm selfish for just wanting to get on with my normal life. Yawn.

There were some hysterical people
On the R4 phone in today - one woman was crying about the restrictions ending - I think she was definitely one of the hardcore "selfish" screamers on here - demanding more was to be done to "be safe" - absolutely ridiculous.

ginislife · 22/01/2022 20:23

I was done on 24/3/2020. It's all been total bollocks. I've been to Waitrose today and I didn't wear a mask - and I don't care !! I'm sorry people have died but we all have to die sometime, some sooner than others. You can call me selfish but I just don't get half the rules. They conflict and don't make any sense. And don't get me started on the bloody politicians and their parties while we were all home alone going nowhere. Bunch of hypocrites the lot of them. It can all fuck off.

I'm so on your wavelength with this. Appreciate this thread for my sanity.
