How many actually test negative day 5/6/7?

I’m day 6 and yet again another great big fat ‘T’ line this morning.

I’m curious how many test negative at this point or is it just to keep people optimistic!?

I’m day 5 too and still positive. My 4yo is negative. And has been since Saturday! We both tested positive on Wednesday. He must have had it first - asymptomatic.

Bear2014 · 17/01/2022 09:25

We were both negative day 5 but a super mild case.

sheeplikessleep · 17/01/2022 09:33

Wowser I don’tbelieve it that is super quick.

Bear - so do you think the more symptoms the longer it will take to get a negative? Which makes sense …

I didn’t have a temp last week but spent 3 days feeling rough and needing constant paracetamol to manage the shivers and aches and pains.

Was hoping for a faded one today so bad. Only had my booster 3 weeks before my positive so god knows how rough I’d have felt without that.

Keeping everything crossed for a faded line tomorrow 🤞

My DS had a negative on day 5 and 6 which surprised me as his initial positive was really strong and came up straight away. He had been almost asymptomatic though. Definitely no cough or temp just feeling a bit off for one day. We had done the test because of visiting vulnerable relatives.

IHaveToSay · 17/01/2022 09:36

I did, and DD2 and DS. DD1 was positive until day 9.

WaystarRoycoCEO · 17/01/2022 09:36

I tested positive on Tuesday and was negative when I did a test yesterday. But I have been completely asymptomatic and my line on Tuesday was really strong so I’d probably already been positive for a few days by then I would imagine.

IHaveToSay · 17/01/2022 09:37

And not sure on the symptoms thing… I had a pretty nasty case. Days 2 and 3 I could barely lift my head off the pillow. I was negative on day 5 though.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 17/01/2022 09:40

At DD's US college all students had to test before returning. They had hundreds of asymptomatic cases. A lot of them tested negative at day 5.

Flippydip · 17/01/2022 09:47

DS was negative on day 5 but then he might have had Covid for a week before we tested him, as he had no symptoms.

purplepaintedpineapple · 17/01/2022 09:47

My son had it very mild and had a faint positive on day 5 then negative 6 and 7.another friend, had it and was positive at day 10 and husband still positive at day 14 and neither had it very bad 🤷‍♀️

Neena86 · 17/01/2022 09:51

I tested out of interest today on day 11 and still positive. Dd7 was negative day 8 and Dd13 negative day 7. SIL still positive day 9.

sheeplikessleep · 17/01/2022 09:54

So there seems no rhyme or reason.

I think if I knew was 10 days and that’s it, I’d accept it. But I’d kind of built my hopes up I could be out earlier …

I'm currently on day 6 and still positive.

What happens if you get to day 10 and still positive? I'm still full of symptoms so not sure if that makes a difference.

PassingByAndThoughtIdDropIn · 17/01/2022 09:56

DD tested negative on day 7 having had an almost invisible line on day 1 and a super-positive one on day 4

Same 😫 I feel trapped!

You can still walk free after day ten.
SaveThePennies · 17/01/2022 10:06

Day 9 here and still very positive (and still feeling awful!)

anxiouswaiting · 17/01/2022 10:12

I got a positive PCR after doing an asymptomatic test for the ZOE app. Was doing 2-3 lateral a week for work that had all been negative.

Felt fine and only got my results 5 days after my test!

Tested negative on lateral on day 6 and 7.

Now, 2 weeks later a lateral is positive. I'm really not sure what to make of lateral flows at the moment.

nansbigpants · 17/01/2022 10:13

DH, I and 2 DC all had covid recently. DH (who was asymptomatic throughout) was negative from day 6, DS who only had very very mild symptoms for about a day was not negative until day 9. DD and I were both negative from day 8. We did find that the positive line started to fade over time and we all had a couple of days of very feint lines before being negative- so I'd say once you start to see the line fade you can hope for a negative soon

Iggly · 17/01/2022 10:15

You can’t walk free after ten days if you’ve still got a fever?

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 17/01/2022 10:19

Day 5 today - yesterday was a brief false dawn when I felt OK. Did some light housework and feel knackered. Need to sit tight until Thursday for next test.
How was the convalesence? Only I don't want to make things worse when I do go back in terms of stressing myself.

PoleFairy · 17/01/2022 10:20

DH and I both negative day 5 (and then onward to day 6). We had a v mild case and I think we didnt test positive on lft ntil we had it a while.

Redcrayons · 17/01/2022 10:22

DS first negative was D8.
He had no symptoms at all.

changingstages · 17/01/2022 10:36

DSD was negative on days 7/8 but she's the only one I know who's managed to escape early, apart from one out of the 16 in DD's primary school class who got it. All the rest have tested positive right up to day 10. It feels like that might be a little unusual?

AlexaShutUp · 17/01/2022 10:38

I would have tested negative. In fact, I tested negative on LTFs all through covid, only the pcr was positive.

Whether that means that I was still infectious or not is a different question.
