How many actually test negative day 5/6/7?

I’m day 6 and yet again another great big fat ‘T’ line this morning.

I’m curious how many test negative at this point or is it just to keep people optimistic!?

@nansbigpants

DH, I and 2 DC all had covid recently. DH (who was asymptomatic throughout) was negative from day 6, DS who only had very very mild symptoms for about a day was not negative until day 9. DD and I were both negative from day 8. We did find that the positive line started to fade over time and we all had a couple of days of very feint lines before being negative- so I'd say once you start to see the line fade you can hope for a negative soon
Yep I was hoping for a faded one today. It definitely isn’t appearing as quickly but the line is still so dark from about 5 minutes in.

I'm on day 6 and my line is still blazing.
Still feeling rough though so I'm not surprised.

IfIHadAHeart · 17/01/2022 10:41

Day 8 for me, still a strong positive. I don’t mind, although I’m feeling much better I probably don’t feel fully well enough for work.

Imagineit · 17/01/2022 10:50

I tested yesterday (day 6) it was negative. Tested again today (day 7) and got a very faint line. I redid the test and bam! Strong positive Confused

ethelredonagoodday · 17/01/2022 10:53

My daughter did, but this was her second time having covid, and she was asymptomatic.
I absolutely did not, had a very thick line up to day 10!

AColdDuncanGoodhew · 17/01/2022 10:58

My daughter is day 8 and still positive although has been symptom free since day 3.

Son and me are day 5, husband is day 3 so we'll do our day 6 tests as they come but I assume they'll be positive. My son again has been symptom free the last two days but me and husband are still rough.

Sloughsabigplace · 17/01/2022 11:07

Day 12 here and still the test line lights up like a Christmas tree as soon as the water gets that far!

(I’m testing because my father is in respite care in a care home, he’s very distressed and will not speak to the social worker about his ongoing care without me there, is too deaf for/phone so I need to get in to see him, care home will not let me in if LfT is still positive, obviously, no matter how many days it’s been since my PCR test).

sheeplikessleep · 17/01/2022 11:26

Definitely looks like it reflects symptoms for some though.

I first tested negative day 7 so was out day 8, dh was day 11, dd19 was day 6, dfriend and her husband were both day 5 for their first negatives. We were all mild cold symptoms with only me getting a temperature even.

FourTeaFallOut · 17/01/2022 11:34

I tested negative on days 6 & 7. Never tested on 5 because it would have been a waste. Still felt wiped out though.

Sleepyteach · 17/01/2022 11:36

I’m still positive on day 6 but it is much more faint than yesterday. I had one day (day 2) where I was really poorly and then only very mild symptoms since then. DD has tested negative (technically day 5 but could be longer as she had no symptoms).

PosyRosie · 17/01/2022 11:41

I was wondering this too. My 5 year old tested positive last Monday had a cough and a temp for 1 day and has been bouncing off the walls since and is still testing positive now on day 8. She seems to have had a mild case and I was so sure would be negative by now. I tested positive on Thursday and still feel ill, so can’t see me being negative before day 10!

myyellowcar · 17/01/2022 12:22

On day 7 here and seem to be mildly affected in that I don’t feel too unwell but do have a worsening cough and lost my sense of smell yesterday. Still testing strongly positive.

Tryagainplease · 17/01/2022 17:43

Following with interest
Haven’t tested DS yet and we are on day 6 with him. Am going to test him in a little while.
I am on day 3 and still got a very strong line but feel as though I just have a cold! DS was more poorly - he is only 4 and was sick etc as well.

TenoringBehind · 17/01/2022 17:54

Ds was negative on day 5. He also had no symptoms, so maybe his viral load was very low.

PeeAche · 17/01/2022 17:56

My brother-in-law tested negative on day 5. He's 25, triple jabbed and was pretty much symptomless throughout.

Us oldies all tested positive for around 9 days. 🙄

SoftPillow · 17/01/2022 17:58

I was negative day 5 but still felt awful, not a mild case.

DH and DC also negative, they felt fine

Theflying19 · 17/01/2022 17:59

Not in my family - still positive all the way to day 9 - and that's day 1 being the day after the positive PCR! It's more dispiriting having the hope of early reprieve.

cherin · 17/01/2022 18:08

DS had symptoms only on day 1 and 2, we’ve been doing tests since day 6 and if anything this morning LFT (day8) has a stronger line than ever…

dicdicnurse · 17/01/2022 18:20

@anxiouswaiting

I got a positive PCR after doing an asymptomatic test for the ZOE app. Was doing 2-3 lateral a week for work that had all been negative.

Felt fine and only got my results 5 days after my test!

Tested negative on lateral on day 6 and 7.

Now, 2 weeks later a lateral is positive. I'm really not sure what to make of lateral flows at the moment.

Same here, my lfts are all negative but the Zoe app suggested I did a pcr so I did, it was positive!! I feel a little bit foggy in the head but otherwise asymptomatic. Day 6 tomorrow and I'm praying my LFTs don't suddenly turn positive.
User6397254 · 17/01/2022 18:21

DS only had a hives type rash and was positive until day 9

Jemimapuddleduk · 17/01/2022 18:58

Day 9 for dh, day 11 for FIL. Both kids negative on day 6 and 7.

Metalhead · 17/01/2022 18:59

From my experience there’s no link between severity of symptoms and how quickly LFTs go negative - DD1 was completely asymptomatic and still got a blazing positive on day 10, whereas I was still feeling a bit ill and tested negative.

sheeplikessleep · 17/01/2022 19:02

Thanks all. I think I read up thread that it takes a couple of days to fade, so think I’m a couple of days away at least. It is dispiriting Theflying19. All this talk about it reducing to 5 days is balls if most are still positive on days 9 and 10.

Day 6 today and I was positive this morning. In fact the line was darker today than on the first day I got a positive. I've had it very mildly too. Sad
