How many actually test negative day 5/6/7?

I’m day 6 and yet again another great big fat ‘T’ line this morning.

I’m curious how many test negative at this point or is it just to keep people optimistic!?

I tested positive with no symptoms after a routine test for work. My line was super strong and then faded more each day although still positive. Today is day 9 and the line is super strong and I feel shivery and achy. So frustrating!

PippaPoppet · 18/01/2022 10:51

Not me. I’m 15 days post first positive and I’m still testing positive!

LanieM87 · 18/01/2022 10:52

Myself and my DD (18m) have been asymptomatic, tested positive last Monday and still getting positives, hers are worse than mine. Gunna be in the full ten days, so annoying when symptom free!

I'm day 8 and still testing positive. My eldest daughter tested negative yesterday at day 9 and youngest is day 7 and still testing positive.

Why are you still testing?
cherin · 18/01/2022 11:08

Don’t complain…In other countries like Italy the system requires a test done in pharmacy to confirm that you’re negative: if you’re positive at day 7 you go back one week later, and if you’re still positive you stay in quarantine until day 21. I’ve had friends who had to do the full 3 weeks….

Covidclaire · 18/01/2022 11:09

The thing with being asymptomatic is you have much less certainty over when you actually got covid so unless you test very frequently you don’t really know when your real day 0 is.

ZZGirl · 18/01/2022 11:09

I was pretty mild and I've finally tested negative today on day 10!
Friend of mine was more unwell and tested negative on day 6

adulthumanfemalemum · 18/01/2022 11:10

@SliceOfCakeCupOfTea

I'm currently on day 6 and still positive.

What happens if you get to day 10 and still positive? I'm still full of symptoms so not sure if that makes a difference.

If you get to day 10 you are no longer infections but you can still get residual positive tests. This is why previously they said don't test for 90 days after because of the risk of false positives. At day 10, you are free unless you still have a temperature. Cough and anosmia can go on ages but don't mean you are still infections.

That sounds far worse … I just wish I didn’t have the ‘maybe it’ll be negative tomorrow’ hope everyone night … it’s the constant hope and disappointment. Think I’d rather just have had 10 days since the start expectation.

@Covidclaire because my mum has cancer and I don’t want to visit her until I’m clear.

BlimeyGuvnor · 18/01/2022 11:20

Whole house has tested positive here. Apart from me, although I also have identical symptoms, in fact probably worse than the rest! All laterals clear, 2 PCR's clear...its now day 7 since symptoms started. I think I'm immune to testing!

myyellowcar · 18/01/2022 12:45

@sheeplikessleep slightly slower to turn positive than yesterday but still quite a fast strong positive. Guess it’s the full 10 days for me!

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 18/01/2022 12:47

This sounds so pathetic but is anyone else struggling to isolate in their own home? I have had a hug off DS or DH is over a week now and it's so upsetting!

sheeplikessleep · 18/01/2022 12:48

@myyellowcar that’s a bummer. I think I’m so impatient but it’s dragging isn’t it. I actually thought it was Wednesday earlier but it’s Tuesday. I’m isolating in the bedroom as well to minimise chances of my DH catching it, so these 4 walls are wearing thin now. Hope you get a negative soon 🤞

dd and ds were negative by day 5, father in law was still positive

We didn't. I have two five years olds and there's no way we were going to isolate from them or each other. To be fair my daughter was the first positive and then a few days later me, son and husband all had positives.

Yes I’m isolating in our bedroom. It’s so hard isn’t it, time drags. I’m on countdown to Saturday now when I’m allowed out.

I didn’t isolate in my own home. My 3 young children would have been very distressed if I was in another room and they couldn’t come and see me, and my DH had to work so I had to care for them anyway. I would only isolate in the home if we had a vulnerable family member.
Covidclaire · 18/01/2022 13:35

We didn’t isolate from the kids when we had it and neither of them tested positive at that time. DC1 has since picked it up from school (definitely too far apart to be connected our cases).

Hadalifeonce · 18/01/2022 13:36

DD tested negative day 6, day 5 was a very faint positive.
