How many actually test negative day 5/6/7?

I’m day 6 and yet again another great big fat ‘T’ line this morning.

I’m curious how many test negative at this point or is it just to keep people optimistic!?

DD was negative from day 5 but had no symptoms, picked up on a routine test so I guess could have had it a few days before. DH was negative on day 6&7.
DS & I have just tested positive on their day 7 so will let you know in 5/6/7 days about us!

oohmamama · 17/01/2022 19:18

DD14 tested positive til past day 10. DD5 got a negative test on day 4 and 5 and 6 but think she must have been asymptomatic for a few days before.

oohmamama · 17/01/2022 19:19

I think she probably has a lot to do with when people test negative after having it. Kids have it milder so likely less antibodies.

oohmamama · 17/01/2022 19:19

Age not she

Three of us have recently had it - days 5/6/7 from symptoms our LFTs were all still extremely dark, coming up with an instant dark line before the liquid even got to the control!

We were all still having positive LFTs 10 full days after first symptoms, although much much lighter by then.

nex18 · 17/01/2022 20:46

My dd tested negative one day, had a headache that evening, tested positive the next morning on lft (dark and instant line) and confirmed by pcr. She had no further symptoms and was negative by day 6 and 7. If she hadn’t been doing daily lft as a contact she could easily have missed her positive test. She didn’t test again before day 6 but I expect it was clear before then.

LethargeMarg · 17/01/2022 21:37

I wasn't negative till day 10 I'm afraid - and technically it was day 11 from symptoms starting

PinkButtercups · 17/01/2022 23:04

I had it very mild but didn't show up negative until day 10!

sunflowerroses · 17/01/2022 23:10

I had symptoms before a positive lateral flow, but vaccine side effect morphed into covid so don't really know what day mine started. But my lateral flow was positive for the first time on the Wednesday and negative by Sunday. Very dark line on the sat and gone by the Sunday!

sheeplikessleep · 18/01/2022 08:51

Gah day 7 (symptoms started last Tuesday) and it’s still there. I THINK it’s faded slightly versus yesterday though.

I think the new system just builds yourself up for disappointment ☹️

My DS was positive on Wednesday, LF was negative by Sunday. He’s gone back to school today. My husband was negative by day 6. They both had it for the second time so I think that’s helped them shake it off much much quicker than me.

Dahliafairy · 18/01/2022 10:04

My day 5 test is still positive and I actually feel worse than yesterday. Do I have to report this day 5 positive test? Or will it just reset the 10 days? Do I just report it when/if it turns negative?

sheeplikessleep · 18/01/2022 10:14

Good question Dahlia … I haven’t reported mine yesterday or today but I don’t know the answer.

I’ve just been to a County Council meeting and was told that 1/3 of people will test positive on Day 5/6.

PlantWitch · 18/01/2022 10:23

DD is still testing positive on Day 6 but its always been a consistent thin line like this - its never gotten stronger or more faint.

How many actually test negative day 5/6/7?
sheeplikessleep · 18/01/2022 10:25

I dream of one like that plantwitch … I’m certain mine is faded versus yesterday but it is a squint to see it

Still positive on day 8 here

Yup it just feels like a PR stunt, but actually just gives people false hope.

Ds1 is 15 and on day 7 and still positive. He is unvaccinated and has had mild symptoms. Younger kids mostly asymptomatic (one had a rash, one briefly lost sense of taste) and they are negative as of day 5. It really does seem to vary so much.

Supertree · 18/01/2022 10:32

I'm on day 9 and still have a positive which comes up instantly before the liquid has reached the control line. I actually just came here to ask exactly the same question. The change in the rules made me think that it must be common but we're all still testing positive. In fact, the line is darker and comes up more quickly now than it did on my original test. I had symptoms of a bad cold (muscle aches/sore throat etc) but would still have taken painkillers and gone to work if it was pre-covid times, so not even as bad as flu. I would consider that mild so I'm surprised.

Supertree · 18/01/2022 10:33

Oh, my day 7 test was very, very faint so I thought it would have disappeared the next day. I must not have performed the test very well because days 8 and 9 were the darkest i've had.

PlantWitch · 18/01/2022 10:41

@sheeplikessleep

I wonder if its connected to viral load? DD was confirmed by PCR and has been symptomatic so definitely covid but the line on her lft has always been very faint

FeckingCovid · 18/01/2022 10:44

I'm either day 4 or 5 (not sure if the day I got the positive test day is 0 or 1) and I'm still positive. Not as bright as the day I did the test but definitely still there.

Can someone clarify whether test day is day 0 or 1 please.

Also if I have negatives on day 5 and 6 can I go out day 6 or do I have to wait till day 7?

Thanks

sheeplikessleep · 18/01/2022 10:46

Yes it is connected to viral load, I read that somewhere. I just think the government could have managed expectations, as so many friends of mine are surprised I’m still isolating beyond day 7. I doubt I’ll be out before Saturday anyway (and Friday is my day 10 so official last day).
