I’m day 6 and yet again another great big fat ‘T’ line this morning.

I’m curious how many test negative at this point or is it just to keep people optimistic!?

Tested negative on LFT the same day as Positive PCR ( every LFT was negative thereafter

Tootsey11 · 18/01/2022 14:31

Dp works at a test site. If you still are testing positive and have symptoms you must stay in until symptoms clear. Positive without symptoms can go out.

oohmamama · 18/01/2022 19:27

@Tootsey11

Really?? There’s no official guidance to say this is there?

Tootsey11 · 18/01/2022 19:56

Yes, true. He asked his boss specifically because his elderly father had omicron and was still testing positive at day 11. As he had no symptoms he was told he was fine to go out. This is the advice they have been told to give out to those in for testing.

mariebaby3 · 18/01/2022 22:29

DH has it at the moment. Day 7 and he's still got a strong positive even though he's been symptom free since Day 3. He's losing his mind as am I!

Angel2702 · 18/01/2022 22:45

DS was still positive with very strong lines on day 5/6 day 7 the line was barely visible in the morning, tested again at bedtime and was negative and negative again 24hrs later day 8 so went back to school on day 9.

MrsMAC1234 · 18/01/2022 22:53

I'm still positive on Day 10, just had the longest time I've had off work for years.

Not sure whether to keep testing or not...

If you have a temperature you are still supposed to isolate - this is on the official government guidance and has always been in place I think it's cos a temp means your body is still fighting the infection so you're likely to be infectious . Other symptoms not - the cough lasts weeks and doesn't mean you are infectious. We have to check our temps as well as test negative on ltfs at work to go back after having covid . The longest we have to be off work for is 14 days is still testing positive so can return day 15 but I don't think many go that long. Mine was very strong on day 7 and 9 , faint day 8 and clear by day 10

sheeplikessleep · 19/01/2022 08:43

Day 8 today and still very much positive ☹️.

I’m giving up hope I’ll be out before Saturday morning (10 days is up midnight Friday).

This isn’t quite right. Symptoms such as cough, tiredness etc can last for weeks as with any other virus. You only need to isolate pst day ten with a temperature other symptoms are fine.
sheeplikessleep · 19/01/2022 09:11

I thought you escape after ten days if no longer have a temperature.

You can escape early if you get two LfTs 24 hours apart.

I don’t have symptoms now but my positive LfT means I have to stay in until midnight Friday (when my 10 day isolation officially ends).

I don’t think my DS is going to stay in for 10 days even if positive, he thinks it’s unfair that he comes under the 10 day rule when people who tested positive 3 days later come under the new rule.
And I can see his point.

sheeplikessleep · 19/01/2022 09:24

But a positive LFT is a sign you could still be contagious.

And those under the new ‘rule’ don’t come out early if they’re testing positive before day 10?

I thought the ‘two negatives and come out early’ (days 5/6) rule did apply to everyone now anyway?

@FeckingCovid

I'm either day 4 or 5 (not sure if the day I got the positive test day is 0 or 1) and I'm still positive. Not as bright as the day I did the test but definitely still there.

Can someone clarify whether test day is day 0 or 1 please.

Also if I have negatives on day 5 and 6 can I go out day 6 or do I have to wait till day 7?

Thanks

Day 1 is either the day your symptoms appear or the day you take the test depending on what comes first.

Negatives need to be 2 consecutive days from day 6.

I asked both these questions while on the phone to track and trace.

LethargeMarg · 19/01/2022 09:58

I don't think that's right . I tested positive on a lateral and pcr on the 28th but symptoms started the night before. Day 0 is the day you first have symptoms or if no symptoms the day you test- that's what the govt site says on isolation and how your app countdown . Once you fill in the link you get sent it will adjust day ten if you already had symptoms before the day of testing . So my original day 10 was Friday 7th jan but once I'd filled in the link saying I felt unwell in the 27tj my day 10 was the 6th.

LethargeMarg · 19/01/2022 10:00

This is from the govt website about when the ten days start from

They don’t you can follow the new rules even if tested positive before they came in. Confirmed by the texts test and trace sent to my son. He tested positive the day before the non PCR testing rule came in on 11th. If he’d tested negative on day 5/6 he could have left isolation.
Angel2702 · 19/01/2022 10:03

Day you test positive or have symptoms is day 0 in England and the 10 days start the following day so including the day you test is actually 11 days and free on 12th. I believe in Scotland they do or did count the day you tested as day 1.

Treaclepie19 · 19/01/2022 10:43

My son is on day 9 and asymptomatic but still had a line yesterday.

Wnkingawalrus · 19/01/2022 11:19

You could still test negative tomorrow morning and Friday morning and therefore cut short your day 10. Don’t give up hope of an early release!

wishuponarainbow · 19/01/2022 12:20

Watching with interest as I am on day 13 and still positive...

Zandathepanda · 19/01/2022 12:24

Friend still strongly positive on day 14 from positive pcr and lost taste completely for the first time on day 13.

I’m not convinced as my T line isn’t fading …

My DD6 is still having a very faint positive, I had a faint positive yesterday confirmed via PCR yesterday. Tested myself again today to see if the line was getting any stronger (was mainly doing it alongside autistic DD for support to be honest) and Im now testing negative again Confused

I will isolate of course but its very odd
