How long did you feel rough after Covid?

I'm on day 12 now so technically over it. I had a couple of days where I felt really quite poorly but rest of time was just very tired and headache / difficult to concentrate.
But now I still feel exhausted and a regular very chesty cough. Feel worse now than I did a few days ago. Is this just part of the general recovery ?

I’m day 14 today - been back at work 2 days and woken up today feeling as bad as I did the day I tested positive. Pain in my eyeballs, pressure in my head, dizzy. I was negative from day 7.

blackcurrantjam · 26/01/2022 11:43

Day 12 and back to normal virtually. I've had to rest ALOT tho which is tedious and tricky with kids.

2022success · 26/01/2022 12:35

Day 9 here and feel worse than I have done throughout, despite negative LFT today.

Yes @fizzyfood I have had eye problems - they turned purple and swollen. Covid eye is "a thing."

I just cannot sleep at night, despite not napping during the day. Today I feel dizzy, with tinnitus. I feel so weak I couldn't even risk walking round the block (if I were allowed)

I have a potentially life changing job interview on Friday - no idea how I will get through it with the brain fog. Again I had no idea how bad the cognitive dysfunction would be. My friend says talking to me on the phone is like talking to her mum who has Alzheimer's.

Oh - and I had diarrhoea last night and this morning. I think I may just try to sleep and see what happens. I wfh mostly at the moment but haven't even been able to do that.

Am triple jabbed, mid fifties, overweight but not obese. Really sick of this now.

I think anyone who is vaccinated has a much better chance of recovery.
I agree with those who get annoyed with hose who don't get vaccinated because they want a "choice".
Agree with the last poster. Everyone has had the opportunity to get vaccinated now. This is t an argument about not getting Covid because your vaccinated. It's about getting vaccinated for the better of everyone and finally defeating this horrendous virus.
Stay safe. Love 💕

I'm day 22 now. Glad to say that I've had some improvement in the intensity of the headaches in last couple of days. Still tired / milder headaches / upset stomach and trouble concentrating so going to keep trying to get as much rest as possible outside of work for a few more days.

Defeating it how? When people are still getting it with side effects like this? I know two people who have had Covid recently without being vaccinated. The side effects they have had are very similar to those described here.

Day 9 - still getting headaches, fatigue and breathlessness (even at rest). Taking inhaler and steroids for the breathlessness, and my chest doesn't feel as tight. For those that had breathlessness as a symptom, when did it get better? I love running (more for my mental health than anything) but can't imagine I'll be able to get out for a long while.

dahliaaa · 01/02/2022 20:41

Day 28 now.
Had a couple of days where headaches much much better but yesterday and today significantly worse again. Real struggle at work. Eyesight has definitely been affected by COVID too (sorry not sure if I've mentioned that before.)

I'm day 21 now.

Still off work and starting my second lot of oral steroids following an asthma review o requested. Breathlessness still isn't under control and my normally very well controlled asthma is no longer controlled.

Feeling very down about it and hoping it resolves after this second lot of steroids.

Anyone felt better, thought they were back to normal, and then realised they did not feel well? I thought I was OK for 2 days but last night had severe headache plus diarrhoea. Today, very fatigued and slept half the afternoon. I had thought I was home free then felt so il again. Is it still Covid?

ramencarmen · 01/02/2022 21:08

About three weeks to feel normal here, maybe 3.5. First week awful, second week still exhausted and with a cough. Third week just weak and coughing. Am just over 4 weeks now and feel pretty good!

seoda24 · 02/02/2022 19:30

What does anyone recommend for a good “ pick me up- tonic “ .. am three weeks post Covid but I am absolutely shattered in the evenings since having the virus . I was never this tired after anything I’ve ever had . Thank you !

homeappliances · 02/02/2022 19:45

I've just bought Metatone...also trying Manuka Honey. Completely understand what you mean about the exhaustion.

seoda24 · 03/02/2022 07:13

Thank you , must try . Glad I’m not the only one feeling exhausted

dahliaaa · 04/02/2022 18:24

I'm just over 4 weeks since I was diagnosed now and the headaches have been really awful this week. I'm really struggling with them. Affecting work and day to day life and making me just feel unwell Sad.
Getting concerned as to how long they will last.
I don't feel congested at all but as well as being in neck and back of head the pain is behind eyes / brow bone / forehead similar to sinus issues so I've been doing steam inhalation.
Sorry for everyone else who is still struggling. Thanks

I thought I was OK for a few days after the first week but now, two weeks after diagnosis have muscle pains all over, bad heartburn and a shooting pain across my upper back. I suppose it must be after effects of Covid.

I am so pleased people are also like this. I thought i was going mad.

Day 12 positive test. I felt rough days 2 and 3 very fluey. Had 3 jabs felt better but day 8 felt better did lots of housework bit of painting

Today i feel awful so tired aching legs dizzy. Surely it's just got to go 😂. DH said i need to rest more hard with working and 2 young kids

dahliaaa · 06/02/2022 16:22

I think I'm at about day 32 now and really struggling.
The headaches are really knocking me for 6.
I'm assuming its still linked to covid but obviously can't be 100% sure.

I feel quite anxious today that the headaches are lasting so long and having such an impact. I had hoped they would improve over weekend because haven't had the intensity of work but there hasn't been any difference.

Pain seems centred on forehead / behind eyes and temples. I would have thought it was sinus related but there's no discharge (sorry tmi.)
I'm doing steam and saline spray just in case that helps.

I'm technically day 24 now, been negative since day 9 but still off work with chest pain, breathlessness and fatigue. I'm genuinely quite concerned about getting back to work now. Had two lots of steroids, antibiotics and increased my inhalers as my asthma is now not controlled.

dahliaaa · 06/02/2022 20:53

@AColdDuncanGoodhew I'm sorry you are still really struggling. Hope you start to see some improvements over the next few days.

I tested positive two 2 weeks ago tomorrow. I've been so poorly, I don't remember feeling this bad since I was a child and had pleurisy. I'm, thankfully, getting better but my chest is very tight at night when I'm lying down (isn't like that at all in the day) and because of that Im getting very little sleep.
