How long did you feel rough after Covid?

I'm on day 12 now so technically over it. I had a couple of days where I felt really quite poorly but rest of time was just very tired and headache / difficult to concentrate.
But now I still feel exhausted and a regular very chesty cough. Feel worse now than I did a few days ago. Is this just part of the general recovery ?

I had it March 2020. Original strain.

I was unwell for a few weeks with cold, sore throats, loss of taste and smell, right chest and cough. Few days of really high temp. Extremely tired.

I was unwell for about 8 weeks in the sense of feeling like myself from morning to night.

I think I felt quite scarred by it for about 8 months. As in I remember that horrid feeling on the crushing down in my chest and heart racing and it had a lasting impact on me emotionally.

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 22/01/2022 21:00

Even with the milder strain of omicron (I assume) and being triple jabbed I was an emotional mess. Hats off to those who had it right at the start- you must have been terrified.

LostFrog · 23/01/2022 14:31

I’m on day 9 and I thought I was basically ok but I am really tired today. Trying to make a roast dinner and keep having to sit down every 5 mins. I think I might need to give myself a bit of a stern look.

It is January though which doesn’t help in terms of energy levels.

Ilikecheeseontoast · 23/01/2022 16:28

I’m only day 3 but feel quite I’ll. am double vaccinated but had put off having booster (which was due before Christmas). Chesty cough, sore throat, fatigue, headache, weepy and emotional. Fever and chills. Just can’t get warm. Hopefully I won’t get any worse. Also…. Coughing up yellow phlegm. Sorry! Is this normal?

MrsTrumpton · 23/01/2022 16:42

Day 6 today, still testing positive, although the line was very faint this morning. Start with a sore throat and headache that went on for the first few days and I became so bunged up I lost my sense of taste and smell. They already seem to be returning but I'm feeling really wiped out still and dizzy when I stand up too long. A friend of mine has had Long Covid for the past two years so I'm being really mindful about not pushing myself too hard while recovering. That said, I am dying to get outside for a walk!

Catcrazy83 · 23/01/2022 16:48

4 weeks and counting

OnebusyMum · 23/01/2022 17:02

Day 8 today, really tired still..Tried a small walk , my heart rate was as high as it was previously when running and we were walking at a snails pace.
Banging headache and tinnitus too.

@Catcrazy83 what symptoms do you have now?

@itsgettingweird that must have been awful Sad

I got symptoms on Friday night and tested positive Saturday. Feeling bad today, bad headache, cough, tired, blocked nose etc. And feel low and flat. How long reasonably should I cancel appointments for (all remote by Zoom but high level of concentration and engagement required over several hours for each appontment)?

dahliaaa · 23/01/2022 18:50

@theDudesmummy I didn't go into the office (obviously) but I carried on with my wfh zoom meetings and I really wouldn't recommend it. If you can would be better to have a break

dahliaaa · 23/01/2022 18:51

@theDudesmummy sorry I didn't answer your question - I would give yourself a good few days.

OP posts:
theDudesmummy · 23/01/2022 18:57

OK thanks, I think I will cancel meetings this week. I am a clinician and the appointments are long and complex so i need to be on the ball and presenting as well and engaged, and i dont even feel up to watching tv right now! I am also going to have to give myself a few more days of not doing other work if this headache continues, I think. Hoping very much all can go back to normal after about a week.

worriedatthemoment · 23/01/2022 19:01

@FrostyGirl66 i have covid now yet my lFt have been negative and same as my son his took 3 days to show as positive on a lft and then was so faint could of missed it
So i don't think LFt are to be relied on as 100% not infectious either
That said they do have there place as when my other son had covid a few months ago we only picked up on a routine LFT
But none of us can totally assume we don't have the virus
We never had any of listed symptoms either

worriedatthemoment · 23/01/2022 19:05

Also likely caught of my ds who is triple jabbed as am i , our symptoms so far are mild and hope it stays that way

dahliaaa · 23/01/2022 19:10

I probably should have added to this thread that I'm triple jabbed.

Cancel everything, you need to let your body rest to recover. I cancelled all Zooms last week because I couldn't concentrate for more than a few minutes, much less shower/brush my hair to look vaguely presentable. No way could I have engaged for several hours at a time. I couldn't even read a book, I just watched TV on a loop or slept.
theDudesmummy · 23/01/2022 19:17

Yes, I think I shall cancel everything for this coming week, and re-evaluate later in the week re the following week.

Idontbelieveit14 · 23/01/2022 19:35

I’m day 11 today, been negative since day 7. I’m really up and down, had an awful few chesty coughing fits this morning and I keep feeling dizzy and shaky when I do anything much. I’m back at work tomorrow and worried I’m not going to manage.

itsgettingweird · 23/01/2022 19:50

Thanks.

Ironically I've tested positive again this evening!

I've had a cold for a few days and daily LFT as work in a school so always around it!

Felt better today. Then tested positive 🤦🏼‍♀️

It's nothing like the first time I had it (so far anyway!)

fizzyfood · 23/01/2022 19:52

Day 5 here, anyone suffering from eye pain?

blackcurrantjam · 23/01/2022 21:31

Day 10 here, had to cancel everything, couldn't even read a magazine, couldn't even watch TV. Had extraordinary tiredness, slept 10/11 hours a night and slept in the day, watched short vids like tiktok or BBC shorts things, just to distract myself really, could barely speak at times so fatigued. Feeling slightly better today, up and about without feeling like I need a lie down Hmm every five minutes.

I used gallons of dry shampoo to try and look vaguely respectable on zoom but really regret it now. Worried that I've scuppered recovery by not resting more at the time but that's not really helping so telling myself that at least I don't have little ones anymore to look after and just take things easy.

homeappliances · 24/01/2022 08:35

I'm on day 6 and this has hit me like a bus. I feel extremely exhausted, bad head, no sense of smell/ taste, moments of breathlessness. Trying to rest and increase fluids. Just want some energy back because I'm now feeling really down.

UnicornsReal · 24/01/2022 08:55

I don’t understand why people are getting it so badly when they e been vaccinated. Clearly the vaccines don’t really work. Yes, symptoms might have been worse without them, but they sound pretty debilitating with them!
