How long did you feel rough after Covid?

I'm on day 12 now so technically over it. I had a couple of days where I felt really quite poorly but rest of time was just very tired and headache / difficult to concentrate.
But now I still feel exhausted and a regular very chesty cough. Feel worse now than I did a few days ago. Is this just part of the general recovery ?
@FrostyGirl66 get vaccinated! The fact you say so lightly I just had a headache a bit and hen I was fine....other people get it a lot worse and you are more likely to be spreading it around unvaccinated!!
Shame on you! Sort yourself out !
Plain nasty.
I'm triple vaccinated. Still caught and passed to my husband.
Probably caught from work as only place I've been. In a hospital. With Covid patients and positive staff also triple jabbed.

MummyPop00 · 18/01/2022 09:15

Would also say despite my having Long Covid, In relation to the pro vax post I would defend anybody’s right not to be jabbed. In a liberal democracy you do not ride roughshod over people’s human rights as & when it suits.

The severity of the disease itself & the risk it poses to the individual & their circumstances should be the only persuasive factor required as to whether somebody decides to get themselves jabbed or not.

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 18/01/2022 09:24

I'm pro vax but have to say the data shows vaccines don't do a huge amount to reduce spread of the virus. They do protect individuals against severe illness. I don't feel cross with people choosing not to take the vaccine and vaccine passports shouldn't be a thing.

Some tips for managing fatigue-

Don't do anything standing up that you could do sitting down. Don't do anything sitting up that you can do lying down. (Midwife told me this after having my first baby but it also applies here).

Always take something with you when you leave a room. Eg dirty clothes to go in the basket, cups for the dishwasher etc.

Spread your tasks through the day. So if I planned to have a shower, take the bins out, play a board game with the kids, make packed lunches, prepare a meal and do a load of washing I would di ibe task, rest, another rask, rest etc

Alternate brain jobs with body jobs. So make a phone call, rest, wipe the kitchen, rest.

These depend on you being at home and not working or looking after small children and those scenarios make managing fatigue really really hard.

cakedelight77 · 18/01/2022 11:45

@drinkingwineoutofamug it's not plain nasty.
It's better to be vaccinated. FULL STOP.

cakedelight77 · 18/01/2022 12:36

@drinkingwineoutofamug @FrostyGirl66 how do you think variants come about??

Thriving on the unvaccinated.

Educate yourself @FrostyGirl66

drinkingwineoutofamug · 18/01/2022 12:45

And the vaccinated @cakedelight77 .
Why do people just think that the unvaccinated are causing this problem. The bloody pro vaccine people are now as bad as the anti vaccine people with some of the shite that comes out of their mouths.
I have Covid twice since being vaccinated.
Hubby had it once unvaccinated. His symptoms were actually milder than mine. So how do you explain that one?

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 18/01/2022 12:54

Well I guess you'll never know how bad your symptoms would have been if you hadn't been vaccinated.

wineandsunshine · 18/01/2022 13:00

I'm on day 9 and feel OK. Still have a bit of a chesty cough.
My LFTs are so strong still - but will be back teaching on Thursday!

dahliaaa · 18/01/2022 13:24

I've posted this on the after effects of omicron thread too - finding it helpful to keep a note. Thank you for the tips on dealing with fatigue - really helpful.
Day 14 now
Legs / arms still shaky. Light headed. Difficult to concentrate and just feel 'odd.'

Really glad I'm wfh today so don't have the journey.

I definitely feel worse than I was a few days ago and feel quite nervous about it.

Turns out I have pulmonary embolism. I was feeling quite breathless after two weeks and noticed my heart rate was up, called 111 who sent me to the hospital. Luckily it was caught early so just blood thinners for at least three months

scooterbear · 18/01/2022 15:16

I'm on day 21 and it's the first day I've felt ok. Days 14-18 were the worst I felt. Had all the symptoms at once and feared I would never get better. Woke up yesterday with just a little cough, today-feel ok. Bit tired maybe but that's it. Hang in there x

guesttest2 · 18/01/2022 16:16

Day 14 today & was the first day back in the office but had to come home at lunchtime because of breathlessness and tight chest. So fed up because I feel worse now than I did at the start of the illness.

dahliaaa · 18/01/2022 18:22

@motherofcats007 oh goodness - glad it was discovered early

Dear Lord, what a difference a day makes. Yesterday I was dozing on and off all day. Today I haven't needed a nap at all, in fact I haven't slept tonight yet. Wide awake wackaday. Think I'm getting better
**@drinkingwineoutofamug* @FrostyGirl66* how do you think variants come about??

"Thriving on the unvaccinated" 🤦‍♀️ I take it you haven't read the triple jabbed and tested positive thread? It's not thriving on the unvaccinated because most of us haven't had it, I've worked in a public facing position throughout and made 2 years without catching it and know lots of people who are in the same position. It's thriving on the divide it's causing in society if anything.

dahliaaa · 19/01/2022 20:07

Just reporting in - day 15 today.
I didn't sleep brilliantly last night but I felt a bit better till about 1pm.
After that really banging headache down into neck and shoulders which just wouldn't shift. Made work really difficult. But positive that had easier morning.

OP posts:
TerraNovaTwo · 19/01/2022 20:11

Lots of us had covid before we were fully vaccinated. Am vaccinated and I too have symptoms that wax and wane.

dahliaaa · 19/01/2022 21:35

I've just asked on other thread but is anyone taking vitamins and / or a 'tonic' to help with recovery ?

OP posts:
dahliaaa · 21/01/2022 13:35

Day 17 now.
Very glad it's Friday finally.
Haven't been as 'shaky' last couple of days but headaches still not shifting. Hoping that will start to ease over next few days

OP posts:
Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 21/01/2022 16:24

I'm on day 12 and feel much better luckily. I went for a swim and could do a bit less than my usual distance but not much less.

Get well soon OP and everyone

dahliaaa · 21/01/2022 19:28

@Invasionofthegutsnatchers thank you ! Glad you are feeling better.
Headache is really awful now but just going to rest over weekend. So frustrating.

OP posts:
dahliaaa · 22/01/2022 18:49

Day 18. Sorry I'm still going on. Horrible headache again today. Started at about 2pm. I'm not someone who normally has headaches so really unusual for me. Really tired as well and difficult to focus.

OP posts:
Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 22/01/2022 19:26

I took the kids swimming today to a place with water slides, it was fab but I'm so tired afterwards. There was quite a bit of walking as we parked in town and when we got home we all flopped! Early night tonight.
