Did anyone not catch omicron if it was in your house?

DH works away from home Monday to Wednesday.

Wednesday night/Thursday morning he woke up with high temp, headache, aches and pains etc. He tested positive straight away.

Today the people he was working with on Tuesday/Wednesday have symptoms and tested positive on LFT.

So far, me and DC are negative and no symptoms. Its sounding like we could start getting symptoms tomorrow. Has anyone managed to not get it when you were in the same house as a positive Omicron case?

Dh and dd still not caught it. Over a week since my positive test

@MustTidyUpMustTidyUp

For those that have tested positive recently - have you had it before? We are a household of 5. DS1 has it for the first time - omicron I presume, 3 of us had it in sept / Oct which was prob delta. Trying to o work out if we’ll get it again :-(
DS2 tested positive this morning. I assume omicron. We had a text from school yesterday to say cases were multiplying so to please test twice a week (hence testing this morning!)

He had it back in September along with DS1.

Neither DH or I caught it back then (or if we did, it was asymptomatic and didn't show up on tests?) so I'm wondering if we'll escape it again this time or not be as lucky.

Both DS1 and DS2 had totally different symptoms to each other last time (one more like a gastro flu the other more like a cold) and this time round DS2's only symptom so far is a very occasional, barking cough.

Day 4 here for me (tested positive on Saturday). I'm assuming it's Omicron as it's rampaging through the nursery school where I work (staff & children) - it's the first time since the pandemic started that we've had an outbreak.
So far, DH and 4 DC are all still negative and symptom free so far. I've been trying to isolate from them, but we haven't got a massive house, plus youngest DC has additional needs and is really struggling with it. So I have been in the same room and had to cook dinner for them a few times etc. Youngest DC is also CEV and not yet vaccinated, so I feel really stressed about possibly giving it to her.
I feel rubbish still - headache, sinus pain, exhausted. But I know it could be a lot worse.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

@MustTidyUpMustTidyUp we think we had the original strain in Feb 2020 but it was before testing was available so not 100% sure. Nothing between then and now.

@ButtercupBlue if its omicron it seems to be spreading very rapidly compared to delta from what I have seen. My BIL had delta and his wife and kids didnt get it, but this omicron that DH brought home is spreading rapidly. There are numerous people at his work and now us three here that he has passed it on to.

I was the only one that tested positive

Partner ,3 year old and 6month old did not test positive

We are now day 11 since youngest son tested positive- he still tests positive, but the 3 of us have so far managed to dodge it (we’ve tested for the required 7 days and then occasionally afterwards only if we needed to go out). Parents boosted, eldest son had the second dose 2 months ago.

Surrounded by isolating family all with positive LFTs. My daily LFT is negative for the last 6 days but I feel exhausted, weak and very dizzy. I am waiting for PCR results but these don't seem like the sort of symptoms everyone else describes.

loloballlolo · 20/01/2022 14:55

I tested positive 9 days after my son. We were not observing the usual social distancing because he is young.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 20/01/2022 14:57

On three separate occasions someone in my household has caught it and no one else in the house has caught it from them.

bluesugar · 20/01/2022 15:03

Everyone caught it except DH.

Just10moreminutesplease · 20/01/2022 15:06

I had it after Christmas (along with most of my extended family!). My husband and baby didn’t catch it though.

It’s weird. We didn’t isolate from each other at all either. There’s no way my LO would have tolerated not climbing all over me for a week Grin.

My son went on a long weekend away with his girlfriend (he’s at uni in our home city). Came home with a bit of a cold, tested positive. His gf subsequently got tested twice and was negative both times. I didn’t get symptoms & didn’t have to go to work so didn’t bother testing but never felt ill.
