Did anyone not catch omicron if it was in your house?

DH works away from home Monday to Wednesday.

Wednesday night/Thursday morning he woke up with high temp, headache, aches and pains etc. He tested positive straight away.

Today the people he was working with on Tuesday/Wednesday have symptoms and tested positive on LFT.

So far, me and DC are negative and no symptoms. Its sounding like we could start getting symptoms tomorrow. Has anyone managed to not get it when you were in the same house as a positive Omicron case?

My husband and child tested positive on Saturday. I co sleep with my child, door shut, I was convinced I'd have it too. Tested negative every day since. Hopefully that continues!

SisterAgatha · 18/01/2022 19:43

Not me, or our daughter (unvaxxed obvs). 3 omicron carriers over 3 weeks.

SisterAgatha · 18/01/2022 19:43

Oh and we made zero changes to our habits, my smallest son coughed inches from my face with spittle and I still didn’t get it.

x2boys · 18/01/2022 20:08

I tested negative when my boys had it before Xmas ,my oldest son also had it in July so I assume first time was Delta and second time Omicron,I had symptoms though so 🤷

WithASpider · 18/01/2022 20:10

DS. 5 in the house, 4 positive one negative. He didn't keep separate from any of us either.

Fourmagpies · 18/01/2022 20:41

@Dancingqueen202

Dd lost her voice on Friday, tested positive Sunday and so far none of us have it. There are 3 other children and two adults.

I’m counting day one from her positive test, is that right?

@dancingqueen202 Day of positive test or symptoms is now day zero in England. DS2 tested positive on Sunday 16th and can take LFTs next weekend as days 6 and 7.
99victoria · 18/01/2022 20:46

My adult daughter who lives with us, tested positive the week before christmas. My OH tested positive at New Year (no symptoms). I've been testing every other day since he tested positive and haven't got it. Won't bother testing anymore after today as it's now over 2 weeks since his positive result

BaggaTDoubleTroubleDoubleG · 18/01/2022 20:57

Day of positive test is day zero. The guidance changed yesterday so you can now take a daily LFT from day 5 and then be released from the requirement to isolate after 2 negative tests in a row. As long as you no longer have a temperature.

We are all on day 5 in our house. DH and DD both fine and testing negative. DS and I still a bit rough and testing positive.

Treaclepie19 · 18/01/2022 21:34

@Echoesandsilence

Fingers crossed for you *@Treaclepie19* sounds like you could be nearly at the other side.

Day 6 for DH and he is completely fine.
Day 3 for 8yo DS and he is still feeling rough.
2yo seems completely fine.
I feel awful with backache etc but my LFT was negative this morning. I've just drastically gone downhill since 11.30. Thinking it might be my kidney infection returning Sad

Get it checked out if you're feeling poorly :( Hope you're on the mend soon! Kidney infections are awful. I'm feeling really worn out and achey tonight... hoping it's just the extra exercise I've been doing 🤞
rhowton · 18/01/2022 21:37

My DH and DDs didn't catch it from me.

MummaL32 · 18/01/2022 21:40

I tested positive last Tuesday , my son tested positive Tuesday night , my other son tested positive Saturday and my other son Sunday

There is 7 of us in my house 4 of us have it 3 don't my Dh has shared bed with me this whole time and toddler in my bedroom and so far not caught it now over a week, And my daughter is also negative I feel like it picks and chooses who it wants

Hope everyone is ok ❤️

RockinHorseShit · 18/01/2022 22:40

We made it through the full quarantine without me or DD catching it. 😆.

After half way I was really hoping we wouldn't get it, as teen DD was totally freaking out that she would miss college & seeing her boyfriend & we didn't want the stress of us having to quarantine after DH was on the mend. I'm beyond knackered as the timing couldn't have been worse for me healthwise & I'm a appreciating DH all the more for what he does for me everyday, thats for sure. I haven't missed his bloody whinging about it though 😂

Echoesandsilence · 19/01/2022 00:02

Went to bed at 8 with body aches and pains, struggled to fall asleep amnd have woke with sore throat, leg aches and headache, temp is raised for the first time through all this too. Have a very very faint positive.

So its only 2yo that has escaped it (so far) but he is very clingy to me so following the trend of the rest of us, looks like he might get symptoms in 3 days.

My daughter tested positive on the Monday, me on the Friday, husband on the Saturday. Our 12 year old never got it. We didn’t bother isolation as by that point we had all crossed paths!
Daughter’s boyfriend (who she was with on New Year’s Eve, her and a few of the group tested positive after) didn’t test positive till the Sunday - we think somehow he didn’t get it from her but picked it up elsewhere or it just took a while for him to test positive- he was negative within 3 days though!
We’ve no idea how my 12 year old avoided it!! We tested her on the Sunday via a PCR before going back to school just incase the LFT wasn’t picking it up!

Immaback · 19/01/2022 00:09

Myself and my two young kids had it but only one of them had symptoms. 17 days of isolation in total and my husband didn’t get it!

Immaback · 19/01/2022 00:10

The first son didn’t get a positive antigen until 4 days after the contact and then the next son got it two days later and I was 4 days after that

spellingtest · 19/01/2022 00:22

My son had it just after Christmas. None of us caught it despite him probably being infected a couple of days before he tested.

eekbumbler · 19/01/2022 00:24

I had the original Wuhan variant in April 2020 - DD didn't catch it. DD had Delta in August 2021 (I'm only going by names because of the dates) I didn't catch it. DD is surrounded by friends dropping like flies with Omicron, must be bringing it home but neither of us has caught it. Both unvaccinated (nobody's business as to why) plus my immune system is shot to pieces and I can't even fight off a simple skin infection so who knows? It does seem like a lottery.

niceupthedanceagain · 19/01/2022 08:13

Seems like I posted too soon... positive test today. DP last one standing

Echoesandsilence · 19/01/2022 09:11

A real lottery @eekbumbler

Hope you are ok @niceupthedanceagain
I feel better this morning than I did last night but expecting it to be a rollercoaster.

DS is on day 4 and feels awful, he actually even slept in this morning.

So sorry you weren't as lucky as we were. I hope your little one is okay & you all recover fully soon. On the plus side, you've at least got it out of the way & can relax for a while

We found mullein herbal tea with honey really helpful if you can get some dropped off to you. DHs lungs sounded real bad when he first tested positive, but this tea turned it around quickly & his symptoms where mild after that.

MustTidyUpMustTidyUp · 19/01/2022 15:03

For those that have tested positive recently - have you had it before?
We are a household of 5. DS1 has it for the first time - omicron I presume, 3 of us had it in sept / Oct which was prob delta.
Trying to o work out if we’ll get it again :-(

furbabymama87 · 19/01/2022 15:06

There's 6 of us in our house. It took 3 weeks for the first one to the last to test positive.

LittleWingSoul · 19/01/2022 15:09

Looking that way for the 5 of us @furbabymama87 It feels neverending! DH first tested +ve on 6th Jan. So just DD13 left to go (who is desperate for any excuse not to go to school, of course, so is going the LFTs really thoroughly!)
