With Omicron cases currently so high, do you know of positive cases in your children's schools yet? Is it primary or secondary?

Yes, several that I've heard about. Primary. (Not DC's class - yet!).

None in ours yet

mumsneedwine · 10/01/2022 17:50

Yes. 184 as of today. Why ?

refraction · 10/01/2022 17:51

70 known cases

SoftPillow · 10/01/2022 17:51

A few at the end of term (perhaps 3% of the school)

None so far this term that I'm aware of.

Primary

Angel2702 · 10/01/2022 17:52

Numerous in both primary and secondary. DS went back to school on Wednesday and tested positive last night.

Evvyjb · 10/01/2022 17:54

About 150. Secondary.

Staff? 28

HelloMist · 10/01/2022 17:55

Why? I was just wondering, partly about how much information schools are sharing with parents. Ours has never given numbers for the whole school (and don't inform parents in other classes until there are a certain number of cases).

None that I'm aware of.

OliveTree75 · 10/01/2022 17:56

About 6 confirmed yesterday and another 5 today. Medium size primary. Only one staff member with covid atm. We actually had a child faint on Friday and ambulance crew did a lateral which was positive.

Bobholll · 10/01/2022 17:59

Probably. I don’t care. We don’t get told unless there’s more than 5 in our specific class or a larger outbreak across the school.

Fallagain · 10/01/2022 18:02

Small primary school - 15% of kids off.

SpringRainbow · 10/01/2022 18:03

I am going to guess yes but I don’t know.

I know there were loads of cases before Christmas but the school never told me, other parents in my kids class told me.

I can only assume no current cases in their class at the moment because no one has said anything.

QueenofLouisiana · 10/01/2022 18:05

3/24 in my class. Several in other classes. Numerous cases in the school community.

Primary.

MarshaBradyo · 10/01/2022 18:06

I have no idea as we’re not informed

Which I’m fine with tbh

KarlUrbansWife · 10/01/2022 18:06

Other parents in our classes have been very good at letting other parents know and I've been asking DC each day of anyone in their class is off sick. Its not perfect but it gives a rough idea. I'd say about half the kids have had it in our classes.
I'm not sure what the relevance is in knowing though tbh.

deuxgarcons · 10/01/2022 18:07

I don't know and I'm fine with that.
Just as I'm fine to not know how many, colds, flu, dodgy tummy.....

MargaretThursday · 10/01/2022 18:08

One local secondary school has 10% from people testing at home or at the in school testing. They've had several outbreaks, more than other local schools.

OliveTree75 · 10/01/2022 18:11

In terms of my own childrens primary - no idea.

FrippEnos · 10/01/2022 18:12

yup, 10 so far.

FlagsFiend · 10/01/2022 18:14

I'm a secondary teacher have between 1-5 students off with COVID in every class I teach.

BlackAndPinkNose · 10/01/2022 18:16

Small secondary (700 students) with 45 off.

UneFoisAuChalet · 10/01/2022 18:16

I have no idea how our schools are doing as they no longer inform us. Mind you, two of mine are home with Covid - the secondary son since Friday and the primary got a positive on Sunday. Primary son’s teacher has Covid.

Troublesometooth · 10/01/2022 18:16

17 staff, had to close to some year groups.

samyeagar · 10/01/2022 18:19

Given the pervasiveness of Omicron, it is a reasonable assumption that every class in every school has cases.

lazylockdowner · 10/01/2022 18:20

Yep loads in secondary today 2 year groups have been closed down for at least a week
