Are there cases in your school?

With Omicron cases currently so high, do you know of positive cases in your children's schools yet? Is it primary or secondary?

Yes, several that I've heard about. Primary. (Not DC's class - yet!).

OP posts:

Same pattern here in Italy now. 4 in dd class, the first being the teacher. All kids in isolation for ten days. Waste of time as they are in masks at school. They are getting it from adults at home. None of the school cases are connected we know this as they only went back for one day. And all cases came out within those two days. It has just exploded.

JugglingJanuary · 11/01/2022 23:12

@Blubells

Well given that some of the staff who caught it over Xmas still aren't back (because they're not fit enough to work, despite being out of isolation) I doubt it.

They must be very unlucky.

Would you stop with your rested 'it's nothing' posts, whether you want to accept it or not, covid makes many incredibly Ill & kills some people.
noblegiraffe · 11/01/2022 23:16

Yes, the 'it's nothing' people don't seem to have much experience of covid because I know quite a few people who have struggled with covid, even if not hospitalised so technically a 'mild' case.

Seeing what I've seen, I certainly couldn't dismiss it like some seem inclined to.

JugglingJanuary · 11/01/2022 23:17

@Meadowblossom

Yes. Do you remember when the government said children don’t spread it, schools are safe. No need for teachers to worry…
@Meadowblossom

Oh come on now! They explained that!! schools ARE safe!!

It's when you go putting people inside them the trouble starts!

🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

noblegiraffe · 11/01/2022 23:19

Don't we remember Jenny Harries' assertion that children were safe in classrooms because they would all be facing forward therefore not breathing on each other?

JugglingJanuary · 11/01/2022 23:21

@TheKeatingFive

Yet you still felt the need to open the thread & post. What a surprise.

I answered a question 🤷‍♀️

If you think I broke talk guidelines report me.

I never said you broke guidelines, but for some who repeatedly professes 'not to care' you sure as hell post on a lot of covid threads. Your right of course, but it's bloody tedious.

Jenny Harries is a bloody liability, full of shit that's backtracked on. Remember her 'no point in wearing masks' BS?
TheKeatingFive · 11/01/2022 23:24

Your right of course

Yes. So enough with the policing from you.

sanityisamyth · 11/01/2022 23:25

No idea. They don't tell us!

ffscovid · 11/01/2022 23:33

3 cases in DC2's class (junior school). One of which had Delta in early December and now has Omicron.

Broadlyskinny · 12/01/2022 07:08

@Tittyfilarious81

None in ours yet
Are school telling you? My child's school have said nothing, but I've heard of cases.

The primary school I'm in started back last week with 6 staff and some pupils off with covid across the school.

There's now double the staff and 20 pupils in Y4 off with covid, along with others across the school in different year groups. It is definitely spreading through y4 at speed 😔

MrsHamlet · 12/01/2022 07:12

We don't tell staff or parents when people are off with covid. We have a lot of cases.

waitingformygirl · 12/01/2022 07:13

Not sure about the whole school, but someone in DDs primary class has it which is a first.

LadyPenelope68 · 12/01/2022 07:41

You don’t even tell staff? Glad I’m not a teacher at your school, our Head informs all staff so they’re aware. Parents of children in the class of a positive case are also advised there’s been a positive case in the class - that’s Public Health guidance to do that. How come your school isn’t following that basic guidance?

MrsHamlet · 12/01/2022 07:44

We're secondary. If we had to contact every parent of every child who was in a class with a positive case, bearing in mind that we're not in bubbles, we'd never do anything else.

MajorCarolDanvers · 12/01/2022 08:05

Much they same as thrice jabbed teachers. So no need for teachers to worry

Are you for real???? 😡
I’m a thrice jabbed teacher, currently really unwell with COVID. What an idiot you are.[/quote]
I never said you couldn't catch it.

Hill1991 · 12/01/2022 08:37

Yes 2 kids and 3teachers in my sons nursery, nursery is closed for the next week at least.

noblegiraffe · 12/01/2022 10:16

So you agree teachers can catch it, Carol. Will you agree that they could also be really unwell with it?

And that this is perhaps something that it is reasonable to worry about?

LadyPenelope68 · 12/01/2022 12:35

@MajorCarolDanvers you agreed teachers can catch it, but we’ve not to worry about it? Really? Are teachers not supposed to worry about their own health?

Woeismethischristmas · 12/01/2022 12:45

I got an email to say that a child in dcs class has covid so yes. I have dc in three classes so I’ve had a few of these emails!

It was a reply to another post and needs to be read in context.

nitsandwormsdodger · 12/01/2022 13:11

I have a few in each class

You will be informed if you are close contact
You are not untitled to another families medical info and it doesn’t really help to know

Horst · 12/01/2022 19:06

You can see the fear on the remaining teachers close to those that are now off. One more off abs they will need to shut a group down. It’s like a ticking time bomb.

HerRoyalNotness · 12/01/2022 19:10

2.5% of students and 3.5% of teachers at high school just now. This is self reporting system

user1471509171 · 12/01/2022 20:10

About 50% 8f people including children I know who have had it have had lingering symptoms for upto 4 weeks. Not terrible but definitely struggling certain days. I was back at school after my 10 days but far from better.
