To say get your fucking vaccine (if you can)

And if you chose not to please don’t give COVID to my red zone working partner.

I’m CEV, I’m positive, I can have only caught it from him - and he works In a red zone where last week 98% of patients were not vaccinated

Sorry for the moan.

If you're vaccinated then you don't have to worry do you. I mean, that's why got it....m

I'm not vaccinated, my children are not vaccinated. No thanks.
None of us have caught COVID despite my four children going to school every day and moving with approx two thousand other pupils.

GreenWhiteViolet · 10/01/2022 11:10

YABU because not one person who has gone this long without being vaccinated will read some random internet post saying 'get your fucking vaccine' and think 'okay, since you put it that way, I will'.

If it's purely about having a moan, then fair enough, but you can catch Covid from vaccinated people too.

TheChip · 10/01/2022 11:11

OK. I will tell the virus if and when I do get it who it can and can't spread to. I have that power 💪

VainAbigail · 10/01/2022 11:12

You’re really confusing op. Your replies make no sense.

WindyState · 10/01/2022 11:12

I can well understand where the OP is coming from.

People not getting vaccinated are knowingly and utterly selfishly putting others at risk.

And the vaccine does reduce the likelihood of infected people transmitting as well as insuring there are less ill people transmitting to start with so can we stop with the "oh but the vaccine doesn't stop you spreading it" because it fucking does.

WindyState · 10/01/2022 11:13

Great that the vaccine has allowed people to go back to school though, eh?
CarrotVan · 10/01/2022 11:14

Well this thread is full of empathy and the milk of human kindness.

People who haven’t been vaccinated and have caught Covid are a large proportion of ICU and HDU patients and tend to be there longer that post surgical patients. This increases viral exposure for staff and other patients and causes surgical cancellations and delays because the beds and staff are occupied by unvaccinated Covid patients (or staff are isolating). It’s a mostly avoidable situation and it’s not at all unreasonable to be pissed off.

I’m sure there a lots of reasons people have to be unvaccinated and we can all place value judgements on those reasons but it doesn’t change the fact that this is a mostly avoidable situation with serious ramifications for lots of people.

I’m sorry you’re ill OP I hope it’s mild

SalsaLove · 10/01/2022 11:15

Ah, the “Surely you know” brigade is out in force. Have a biscuit.

Lou98 · 10/01/2022 11:18

YABU - there's also a million threads like this, what was the need to start another? You also must have missed the fact there's a Coronavirus topic for threads exactly like this.

I'm sure you telling people on here to get vaccinated has made all the people that haven't got any run out to get them.

Fwiw, I only knew a handful of people that had coronavirus in the past nearly 2 years since this started - the past month almost everyone I know has had it (all double vaxxed and majority also had the booster)

All you can do is protect yourself, you've had all three, you'll never be able to control what others do, you'll be much happier if you stop trying

jennytogether · 10/01/2022 11:18

All of these anecdotal responses are exhausting. “I’m not vaccinated and I’ve never caught it” and “he’s vaccinated and he has” and “everyone I know who is vaccinated takes fewer precautions”.

These may be your truthful individual experiences but the evidence shows that across the population that you are more likely to be seriously ill if you’re unvaccinated. That’s in arguable.

And of course it’s a personal choice. But like many other personal choices, it affects other people when by being unvaccinated you’re more likely to be ill in hospital. At the least it affects the risk to staff in those hospitals - like OPs partner.

What confuses me is that I’m sure that when ill in hospital with covid almost everyone unvaccinated would accept the treatment there without studying and obsessing over reasons not to take the drugs. Here, the medical professionals have asked us to essentially take an effective step to help ourselves and also everyone else, but people somehow know better?

BrightYellowDaffodil · 10/01/2022 11:19

@MotherNaturesSon

Yes. It's none of anyones business about another's medical history/vaccination status. I'm double vaccinated but people like you and your attitude makes me sick.
This, in absolute spades. I'm vaccinated but I'm heartily sick of people feeling that they have the right to bully, hector and order others around according to their own preferences.

I'm all for vaccination but I'm also for bodily autonomy and freedom of choice. So give it a fucking rest.

ImALittlePea · 10/01/2022 11:19

@Lavender24

Vaccines don’t stop the spread, but they do have a good chance of you not ending up in ITU

So then why does it make any difference to you if others aren't vaccinated?

this
Urthie · 10/01/2022 11:20

Yes and if every intensive care doctor did that then…

OP posts:
TabithaTittlemouse · 10/01/2022 11:20

I’m sorry that you are unwell but you don’t know where you got it from. Maybe it was that 2%?

What precautions is your husband taking to keep you safe?

DiddyHeck · 10/01/2022 11:20

Exactly

DrSbaitso · 10/01/2022 11:23

I hope you and your partner are OK, OP. But I don't think this will convince vaccine refusers to do it. If everything that's happened since early 2020 wasn't enough for them...

BashStreetKid · 10/01/2022 11:24

What are you worried about if you're vaccinated and boostered then..?

Did you notice the bit where OP said she was CEV?

jennytogether · 10/01/2022 11:24

The other argument that annoys me is “look, people have already put forward arguments for being vaccinated, and the unvaccinated still aren’t listening so just shut up and let people die won’t you!”

@Tal45

I think you're all missing the point that he is in a red with 98% unvaxxed people. If they were vaxxed they probably wouldn't be in as they be much less likely to need hospital care and he wouldn't be constantly exposed to so many positive people.

If you're going to say that the BMJ and Lancet say that you're just as likely to catch covid from someone triple vaxxed as unvaxxed then you should put up the links.

100% agree. It s mostly unvaccinated that have severe symtoms and need to go to hospital.

It becomes OP's business when people's choice not to be vaccinated means they end up in hospital infecting people like her partner. If they had been vaccinated their chances of having to go to hospital are massively reduced.
