And if you chose not to please don’t give COVID to my red zone working partner.

I’m CEV, I’m positive, I can have only caught it from him - and he works In a red zone where last week 98% of patients were not vaccinated

Sorry for the moan.

Its a rude message from the OP?

chasingrain · 10/01/2022 12:04

@ravenmum

The OP's partner is just as likely to have caught it from someone who has been vaccinated - in fact more so, as most people are vaccinated (and boosted) This would be true of the general population, but OPs partner is specifically working with 98% unvaccinated, infected people, in which case he's a good bit more likely to have caught it from one of them.
I just don't believe that nearly 100% of people in the red zone were unvaccinated. From the age of 55 upward are the most likely age to be admitted - and the 55+ age groups are the most protected with most on to their 3rd shot.

I can understand if there had been a crowd of 20 somethings being admitted but the data on the ONS just doesn't reflect that.

I am sorry OP, I think you have got your stats a bit wrong or your partner is telling porkie pies.

I wrote a long reply out explaining my reaction to your post. Deleted it because ultimately, it's a massive Foxtrot Oscar from me too.

blahblahx · 10/01/2022 12:05

What other people choose or choose not do to is none of your business 😅

user313213521 · 10/01/2022 12:05

@XjustagirlX

I’m vaccinated but I’m my experience it’s the vaccinated who are being more irresponsible with COVID because they feel they are protected now.

In my circle, vaccinated people who are positive not social distancing, not sanitising, refusing to do a test with symptoms, going to work with COVID.

These are vaccinated people. they feel they have already done their bit and are not ill so they feel why should they isolate. It’s shocking.

Would they receive full sick pay if they self isolated?

What's shocking is that the government and employers are forcing people to choose between self isolating and being able to pay the bills or feed their kids.

mylittleyumyum · 10/01/2022 12:05

unvaxxed - more likely to have symptoms, and as such test and isolate.

vaxxed - less likely to have symptoms and be out there spreading it around

Although my husband and I (both double vaxxed, no point getting booster now) had it along with our kids, unvaxxed, and they were neither up nor down. One is a teen, one is 10.

Husband and I had flu symptoms.

50:50 - I guess I can continue to be a CEV drama queen
"CEV" modelling in the UK at least includes people over a certain BMI (as well as those with serious illnesses) so it's no wonder everyone is claiming to be "CEV" these days Hmm
Beautiful3 · 10/01/2022 12:13

If you're vaccinated and boosted, what are you worrying about? Being vaccinated doesn't stop you from catching it and transmitting it. Please stop telling others what to do with their bodies.

saleorbouy · 10/01/2022 12:13

I think OP is suggesting that if you vaccinate they is less likely you'll end up being in ICU being treated by her OHand that is a valid point. As to the specifics of where her infection came from then that's another debate.
As many have pointed out the vaccine does not stop infection but does reduce the effects in most cases.
I suppose the analogy would be similar to to wearing a seatbelt. In a accident it doesn't prevent injuries but it certainly help reduce them and in most cases protects others in the vehicle. Deaths are reduced by wearing seat belts, likewise vaccination reduces deaths and the symptoms.

Chloemol · 10/01/2022 12:15

Wow lots of nasty posts on her

Why are people so nasty? There is n9need for it

Op asks a reasonable ask. She is more than aware jabs won’t stop transmission, but will reduce it

Imagine if more of the unvaccinated were in fact vaccinated and the reduction in cases that is likely to bring ( and it will reduce as not everyone will get it )

But no let’s just crack on being nasty

bumblefeline · 10/01/2022 12:15

I won't take advice from anyone on an anonymous forum, particularly one that uses foul language.

Sugarplumfairy65 · 10/01/2022 12:15

@FajitaBonita

CEV and key workers are the new vegans these days. 🙄

Hope you are better soon though.

Hardly!
Being vegan is a lifestyle choice . Having an illness like cancer that makes you CEV is shit! Its frightening and it destroys your mental health. Front line workers also have no choice. The country would be fucked if they didn't go to work.

This analogy has been used many times, and yet people keep saying the vaccine is not fit for purpose because it is not a 100% effective.
ravenmum · 10/01/2022 12:16

@SelfIdentifiedRightsHoarder

I'm fully vaccinated, but currently wondering why I bothered. About half of my extended family are vaccinated, we all saw eachother on new years eve (all did lateral flows beforehand and obviously no symptoms) and every single one of us now has covid. All of our symptoms have been the same, vaccinations dont seem to have made the slightest bit of difference to the severity and transmission. I was very pro vaccine beforehand, and I know this is anecdotal but I'm now thinking what's the point, it's really made me question how effective they are
I just don't believe that nearly 100% of people in the red zone were unvaccinated. @chasingrain This hospital is reporting precisely that 98% unvaccinated figure for those in ICU. I guess maybe OP is in that area. The term "red zone" is what they use: "Of the cases in intensive care yesterday, 87 per cent were unvaccinated, 11 per cent were partially vaccinated and two per cent were fully vaccinated." www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus-update-victoria-15-october-2021

Op is vaccinated and she caught Covid from another vaccinatged person. But she's telling unvaccinated people to get vaccinated...

What is reasonable about that??

Ha, It seems adding ‘if you can’ means you haven’t used get your fucking vaccine in first part ;

@Beautiful3

Because many of the cev who have been vaccinated haven't developed any antibodies. They are just as vulnerable as they were 2 years ago
OhdearOhdearOhdearIndeed · 10/01/2022 12:17

Sick of posts like this. I hope when this is all over the people who have been angry keyboard warriors will look at themselves and realise that you can't demand someone else do something just because you think your opinion is better than everyone else's. It has made this pandemic unbearable, as if it isn't bad enough already. This is for people who have extreme views on both sides of the coin - people who would jab people even if they are allergic to the vaccine and the others than think all vaccines kill people. Shows a real lack of intelligence and not being able to see both sides of a complicated issue. Also includes calling people who won't have a booster jab 'anti vaxx'. Perhaps with much of the third world unvaccinated (including those who are vulnerable) they don't think it is ethical to have further vaccines when they are fit and healthy.

Or maybe we should ask why people might not trust our government/pharma companies in the first place? Social pressure doesn't make people trust these people more, it just makes them more suspicious.

Sunset999 · 10/01/2022 12:18

Well when someone says get your fucking vaccine what do they expect??

doublemonkey · 10/01/2022 12:19

Isn't it time as a society we had an adult conversation about this? There are other pathways we can take now which will have far better outcomes.

It's clear the vaccine provides a very small window of protection. Demonising people who choose to not get jabed and blaming them for transmission when it's actually vaccinated people who are catching and spreading covid is actually insane.

Do people not realise how crazy this is?
