And if you chose not to please don’t give COVID to my red zone working partner.

I’m CEV, I’m positive, I can have only caught it from him - and he works In a red zone where last week 98% of patients were not vaccinated

Sorry for the moan.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 11/01/2022 01:40

You know what, OP, I have sympathy for you, and everyone being affected in any way by any facet of this damn pandemic.

I'm unvaccinated due to bad reactions to vaccines as a child.

I've been hesitant.

I have a thread on here titled "I have a situation "

That situation really hasn't helped with that hesitancy because I will probably never know the truth.

When someone you love becomes an unlikely statistic (potentially) it makes life so much more difficult.

But let's just stop with the fighting shall we? It's achieving precisely nothing.

@Thebackroads

Yabu. I've spent months with crippling anxiety trying to force myself into deciding to take the vaccine because it's for the greater good. I have a terrible needle phobia and health anxiety. Before you say it I am currently in therapy for this.

I've also had covid twice now (both times unvaccinated) and yes I was really sick but luckily I didn't require hospital treatment.

I forced myself last week to go for my first vaccine after many failed attempts and had a major panic attack after. I had really bad side effects and I've sat this full week googling symptoms thinking I'm dying (obviously I will be fine but I can't help how I feel) I've also had the most horrific period of my life since the vaccine and I can't help but feeling I've been forced into taking the vaccine through peer pressure when I really didn't want or need it.

You really need to think of other people's perspectives on this. Of course I want this pandemic to end and for everyone to be safe from the virus but I've been mentally tortured for months over the situation and my own wellbeing isn't any less important than yours.

Honestly, this is the most self indulgent load of tripe…..

Sorry OP, people are selfish and uncaring. I hope you feel better soon.

Bellyups · 11/01/2022 03:06

Sorry you’re ill OP. I am for the vaccine, and have been vaccinated, but seriously, you live (?) with someone who has direct contact with positive cases. You can have every injection offered, but it was going to happen.
I agree with a previous poster - pretty much all the people who are going to get jabbed have now been jabbed. This bullying and witch-hunting is ridiculous. You can not control others.

Hope you feel better soon

indie123 · 11/01/2022 06:48

Yabu

indie123 · 11/01/2022 06:48

@Bellyups exactly!

Smileyoriley · 11/01/2022 06:58

Sorry OP.
One of the reasons I am taking early retirement. Only one of my children has gone into medicine, the others choosing less altruistic careers, and I don't blame them

110APiccadilly · 11/01/2022 07:09

Thought experiment: imagine everyone in the world is vaccinated. Your partner presumably would still be working in a red zone with Covid positive patients? It's just that there would be less of them (not none; no sane person is claiming that all Covid patients are unvaccinated - because it's patently not true). What makes you so confident, given that vaccinated you has caught it from your vaccinated partner, that if everyone were vaccinated your partner wouldn't have caught it?

You have every right to try and encourage people to take vaccines, if that's what you want to do, but your logic doesn't add up here.

Barbie222 · 11/01/2022 07:16

I agree that, to make things as smooth as possible for the NHS, as many people as possible should be vaccinated. But YABU. You have had your vaccinations.You have done all you can. If everyone in the works was vaccinated, you'd still be quite likely to pick it up as vaccination doesn't stop spread completely.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 11/01/2022 07:48

Honestly, this is the most self indulgent load of tripe…..

It really isn't. @Thebackroads you've done really well to get your first vaccine. I had a panic attack on the way into the hall so I know how you feel. There's been some supportive threads for those of us with needle phobias if you need them in the future.

I agree pink
Rosscameasdoody · 11/01/2022 09:06

@Blubells

And exactly how is he supposed to ‘control where he works

By finding a workplace that doesn't involve a lot of contact with covid patients

If everyone did that there’d be no one left to nurse them !!
Rosscameasdoody · 11/01/2022 09:42
@Rosscameasdoody I'm not sure what you mean....
The OP wants everyone to get 'fucking vaccinated' so that she doesn't get covid....
the point I was making was that vaccinated people still transmitted covid to others......she got covid from her vaccinated DH......so everyone being vaccinated won't stop her getting covid....
The point I was making was that you describe your own experience of Covid, and completely ignore the fact that the OP is CEV and her post came from that place.

Speaking as someone who is severely CEV and is still pretty much isolating, I couldn’t begin to describe how scared I’ve been during the pandemic. I was told from the start that I needed to be ultra careful because one of my co-morbities affects my chest and I haven’t made enough antibodies from Covid infection or the vaccines. This is what being CEV means and IME people really don’t understand this - as we move out of lockdowns and PCRs are being used less, the attitude I’m experiencing now is ‘the risk isn’t as bad so why are you still isolating ?’ I am vaccinated and have just received my fourth jab. So yes, I’ve done everything I can to protect myself, but I’m still scared, and I’m still advised to be careful. I’ve had Covid - caught it from my partner who got it during a hospital stay. It was the most awful - and scared - I have ever felt. It wasn’t ‘just like a cold’ or flu, or anything else I’ve experienced. I don’t agree with mandating vaccination but I’ll be honest, I do have a problem with people who remain unvaccinated by choice - I simply don’t understand why they think the risk from the vaccine is greater than the risk from Covid. I also don’t understand why they object to putting the vaccine into their bodies but they have no problem risking the amount of equipment and drugs they will have to endure if they are admitted to ICU with Covid.

Some of the replies on here have been really unkind. The OP has posted from a place of fear, and yes, she may have gone a bit over the top with the title of the post, but she shouldn’t be condemned for trying to press a point of view.

BasketBlocks · 11/01/2022 09:46

Is there a distinction between the vaccine and the fucking vaccine, because I only have the vaccine and I’m worried I’m not covered.

Or is like the distinction between staying at home and staying the fuck at home?

@MaebeaorNot

What a disgusting response to someone who is talking about their mental health struggles and how it has been a barrier to getting the vaccine. Absolutely vile.
What on earth possessed you to think that was in any way appropriate? What were you hoping to achieve by typing that out?

Sorry OP, people are selfish and uncaring.

After the last 2 years of so many people giving up so much - and some putting their own health at risk on a daily basis - for the benefit of perfect strangers, I honestly don't understand how anyone can still type this bollocks and actually believe it.

True, people have become very blinkered and all the efforts / sacrifices made by so many are not enough.
KurtWilde · 11/01/2022 10:31

How quickly people have forgotten eh.

Urthie · 11/01/2022 10:36

Actually you'd be surprised at the number of NHS personnel, or their families who are in the CV / CEV categories. One of the many reasons people chose to go into a health profession.

Forgotten and claims that people were ‘selfish’ all the way through - even at the stages of isolating at home, dc with no school and businesses went under.

Pretty much hasn’t let up. Whatever amount of sacrifice by so many, it was not enough.
