Who else still hasn’t had it?

I’m in an are where everyone seems to have it. We’ve been out, to the pub, restaurants, both in offices where people have it. DH and I still clear. We don’t have kids in school, were quite careful in week before Christmas and work from home about half the week…

Not as far as I know, though could have had it asymptomatically before widespread lateral flow testing. I'm a teacher, DH is a teacher, DC in two different schools. DC1 and DH had Delta last summer, I didn't get it. 70% of my colleagues have had it, including my TA who I was in the classroom with most of the day.

Having said that I will now get it of course.

Juanbablo · 09/01/2022 11:11

Not as far as I know. Jan 2020 I was pretty unwell so maybe that was Covid before we knew about it.

I test twice a week for work and have done ever since that came into play so I'm sure I would have picked it up had I been asymptomatic.

2 of my dcs have had it, the rest of us haven't.

BertieQueen · 09/01/2022 11:14

Not had it in our household either.

Worked outside the home throughout with many many people. Child at school who has come into close contact as well with many cases and still hasn’t had it.
We test daily as have to for work.
Also unvaccinated.

Essemce · 09/01/2022 11:14

I worked in a care home where residents had it and was close to them doing personal care etc. I worked with people. Who had it at the time. Never got it

LaVidaJoker · 09/01/2022 11:16

My DH hasn’t had it, despite working in a sector where he is regularly mixing in large crowds.

He didn’t get it when me & both DCs got it last year (me & DH both double jabbed then) and he hasn’t got it now when I’m on day 6 of my second covid infection (we’re both triple jabbed).

He’s like Teflon.

Grawlix · 09/01/2022 11:29

To my knowledge - have done numerous tests - I haven't, neither has DH. We have been pretty careful, though.

Having said that, I had exactly the same thing as Saucery very early on. Weirdly breathless, had to think about taking a breath. Quite often found myself not quite able to breathe freely when lying down to sleep at night. This was after having what I thought was a bad week-long cold in Feb 2020, right when things kicked off. With a cough, but no loss of taste/smell etc.

I do get spells of dizziness now, which seems to crop up as a lasting effect, so I wonder whether I did have it.

HalfwomanHalfcookie · 09/01/2022 11:35

I have a feeling it may have been circulating a couple of months sooner than the official dates.

AColdDuncanGoodhew · 09/01/2022 11:38

Noone in my household has had it yet either. I'm a nurse, husband works from home and have school aged kids.

Muuuuuuuum · 09/01/2022 11:40

I live in a city, work in a school and have DC in 3 different schools. One DC has definitely had it, one possibly (pre routine testing), other DC, DH and I all yet to have it.

I guess I could have had it asymptomatically, but do LFD test 2+ times a week and never had a positive. I'm not sure why some avoid it and others don't, colleague is off having tested +ve for 3rd time in six months (although apart from mild symptoms first time, hasn't been ill).

CallmeHendricks · 09/01/2022 11:41

Haven't RTFT but Gov site says around 13 million people have officially tested positive since the start - which leaves around 53 million who haven't.
Doesn't seem that way from anecdotal evidence though.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 09/01/2022 11:44

Apart from a neighbour and DS I don’t know anyone who’s had Covid. DDIL and DGCs didn’t catch it from DS either although living in a small flat.
DS, DDIL and DGCs did have a horrible virus the Christmas of 2020 though, before everything kicked off that they think was probably Covid.

thepurplepenguin · 09/01/2022 12:04

Be careful not to speak too soon! I have worked face to face in schools throughout, been a close contact multiple times, and covid has been through our household twice without me catching it. I've been twice weekly testing for months. I was absolutely convinced I was naturally immune. Now I have Covid and the only place I went in the few days before my positive test was the supermarket!

merryhouse · 09/01/2022 14:39

Me, so far as I'm aware.

What with not going anywhere except Tesco I hadn't ever done an LFT before October so it's possible I had it asymptomatically. S2 was doing them twice-weekly for 6th form though.

S1 got it (only mild cold symptoms, regular group testing) while at uni in December 2020. S2 had a temperature for about 6 hours three days before lockdown so isolated but didn't get anything confirmed. H lost his voice Christmas Eve 2019 and was definitely ill for the next few days, but obviously we have no way of knowing what that was.

SignOnTheWindow · 09/01/2022 14:43

Not to my knowledge, but I haven't even had a cold for about four years.

Strawberry0909 · 09/01/2022 15:02

Touch wood not yet, out of my extended family/friends/work colleagues only a couple have and that was in the last week

amicissimma · 09/01/2022 15:12

AFAIK, neither me nor DH, nor DS have had it. I hope I'm not jinxing us! We haven't been rash, but nor have we been particularly careful.

I know, or know of, very few people who have had Covid. Most of them in March/April 2020 and now maybe half a dozen since Omicron. Two 'took to their beds' in 2020, but otherwise no one I know has been very unwell with it, although I know a lot of older people, mostly quite sociable.

I had a nasty coughy, slightly feverish 'cold' which I brought back from The Canaries in December 2019. I heard a doctor on the radio saying that there was a lot of OC43 about then, which is another coronavirus, and rather hoped that was what I had had and I had developed some cross immunity to Covid from it. But as PP say, we'll never know.

Redleavesfalling289 · 09/01/2022 15:34

Never had it as far as I know. Had a nasty virus with most of the symptoms Feb 2020, so it could have been that or just another nasty virus.

I've lived my life semi-normally. I WFH, but lived in London for much have the pandemic and got public transport, went to restaurants, pubs and cinemas. I was convinced I'd get it over Christmas - was on London public transport, in crowded pubs, a concert with no SD. Still nothing Hmm

My partner didn't get it either. Of family, my uncle, his wife and her kids got it fairly early on (she's a nurse), and an Uncle had it over Christmas. That's it as far as family are concerned. My brother goes to pubs & clubs regularly, and into work. Still hasn't had it - I'm guessing we've had asymptomatically or just been lucky.

tappitytaptap · 09/01/2022 16:25

Me either or any of my family, and have been living my life pretty normally with kids at school and nursery. In the wider family most not had it either - sister in law and my cousin's partner. Most families we know at least one person has had it, but not all of the family in a lot of cases!

jessieminto · 09/01/2022 16:41

I've never had it. Been working in the office throughout. DH has been wfh so I ended up the the once taking all the risks and doing the shopping as well. Then I thought fuck it, have been going out to restraints, cinema, swimming etc. DH went out once with a mate and caught it, friend didn't. We'd been sleeping in the same bed, he didn't isolate from me, I didn't wipe door handles or do any extra cleaning. Tested 3 times on a PCR across 7 days after his positive, as just assumed I would get it. Nope. Not me.

Againstmachine · 09/01/2022 16:53

I've not had it, work in a hospital building all way through, use public transport, used pubs and restaurants.

In my circle I still know more who haven't than have.

freemetal · 09/01/2022 17:39

I've never had any symptoms, could have been asymptomatic of course. Haven't tested much, but I did have an antibody test a while ago. Live in London, have a dc in nursery, use public transport, gone to restaurants, theatre and indoor attractions and on holiday.

None of my siblings or their kids have had it - not gone out and about as much as we have, but the dc are in school. Parents and PILs havent had it, but they're all very cautious and barely go out. All the adults in our family are jabbed and boosted.

Excited101 · 09/01/2022 23:44

Me, DSis, DM and DDad haven’t had it. I’ve worked throughout (not from home), been on transport, pubs, restaurants etc. They do say that some are more susceptible to catching it than others.

Fuckedoffisanunderstatement · 09/01/2022 23:49

Me, dodged the household bullet twice.

WafflesOrIceCream · 10/01/2022 00:01

Well this was last week thinking the same!😂 I know a lot of people who have had it and me being a close contact have always tested negative until...4th Jan 2022!

I woke up feeling a bit rough, did the test and there it was,a positive reading! I knew I shouldn't have tempted fate by questioning why I wasn't catching it!

Stripyhoglets1 · 10/01/2022 00:53

Me, DH and DD. Expecting DD to bring
it home from school at some stage as we are wfh - but not had it yet. We have been careful as other family are old and unwell so don't want to take it to them.
