Who else still hasn’t had it?

I’m in an are where everyone seems to have it. We’ve been out, to the pub, restaurants, both in offices where people have it. DH and I still clear. We don’t have kids in school, were quite careful in week before Christmas and work from home about half the week…

ArabellaStrange · 09/01/2022 09:15

Not as far I am aware....

WeeHaggisFace · 09/01/2022 09:16

Both kids have had it but neither DH or I got it despite not distancing at all.

I've had antibody testing through my work twice so I know I've not had it and been asymptomatic.

Scbchl · 09/01/2022 09:17

I haven't had omicron or Delta. Had the very first variant in March 2020 and nothing since.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 09/01/2022 09:18

No one in this house has had it. 2 primary school, 1 secondary DC, husband works all over the place and I work in community nursing. I’ve also been out in packed pubs/clubs most weekends since august and was at a gig in Glasgow when it was omicron central. I LFT twice weekly, now every day as requested by my job and nothing. We’ve had colds that needed PCR and negative. I’m triple jabbed, DH double 🤷‍♀️

I've not officially had it but...

I did have something Christmas 19 that if I'd had it 3months later would most likely have been diagnosed as covid. I had all the symptoms (including loss of taste, discovered that chocolate is disgusting if you can't taste it) and was the illest I've been in a very long time (as in felt like I was dying) and then had post viral syndrome that took months to resolve (tbh I still sometimes get energy issues now over 2 years later). My friend, who had (presumably) the same thing I had at the same time and is also still struggling with energy issues, has had covid in her household 3 times and not once caught it, despite the close contact (she works for patient facing for the NHS so has been taking lfts regularly for longer than me as well as regular pcrs).

We're both pretty much convinced that we had it then and if it wasn't actual covid it was close enough that it's given us some protection

I had all the above symptoms late 2019 too and have not had COVID since. Quite a few people are reporting this and I do wonder if it's been here longer than we yet know.

Worldgonecrazy · 09/01/2022 09:24

Me, DD (despite class outbreak),DP, DF (cev) My DM also Cev who died in Autumn also never had it, even though there was an outbreak on her hospital ward before she was moved to a hospice. We have all prioritised living as normally as possible as we knew mums time was limited and she wanted to enjoy her last few months.

As with any virus there will always be those who are genetically pre disposed to natural immunity. We don’t get sick with flu or colds very often either.

Blood tests have shown no exposure to covid 19 for me though as a commuter and parent of school aged child i feel fortunate to have avoided infection.

I’m sure that going forward, immunologists will be able to do more research into natural/genetic pre immunity because of the widespread nature and ease of transition making the genetically immune easier to find. That would be a fantastic outcome for humanity moving forward.

supadupapupascupa · 09/01/2022 09:31

Me or my daughter. My husband currently has it, tested positive last Tues.

CurryLover55 · 09/01/2022 09:33

I haven’t, neither has DH or DD13. We’ve been very lucky as we both have public facing jobs & DD is mask exempt. DH & I are triple jabbed but DD hasn’t had any as yet.

MintJulia · 09/01/2022 09:36

I haven't, nor my ds. I'm half way through chemo. If I can just get to the end of Feb without catching it, life will get a lot better Smile

scandikate · 09/01/2022 09:36

Me. I was selected for an antibodies test recently as well which was negative so pretty sure I haven't had it. I'm a teacher, my two children are in different schools and husband commutes to London so not sure how I've avoided it.

RedRobyn2021 · 09/01/2022 09:36

I know loads of people that have had it but I haven't, neither has my partner. We don't get out much though tbh but when we do (like when my partner is at work) we wear masks and take precautions

My parents have been on several abroad holidays, go out for meals regularly, they run their own businesses so have mixed with staff members from several different sites indoors regularly- but have not had it either! They are fully vaccinated though, but I keep saying to them I can't believe you've not caught it yet!

ElectraBlue · 09/01/2022 09:39

Me! in London and working in mental health so seeing clients face to face in office for months

Three members of my teams have had it in the past 3 weeks, as well as clients that I was in contact with, ex-partner when we were still together, 2 close friends. I was in close contact with all of these people just before they were diagnosed.

Never tested positive...

Angel2702 · 09/01/2022 09:43

There are five of us, 3 kids in school only 1 has had COVID, the youngest in primary, elder two in secondary haven’t had it.

Sonex · 09/01/2022 09:47

We're a family bof six and none of us have ever tested positive, despite multiple, multiple exposures and many, many tests.

I think it .ight be a timing thing in our case as we were all vaccinated pretty early due to one family member being CEV so we were always recently vaccinated when a wave was kicking off. Youngers two too young though. My youngest is in a class of 20 at primary school and he is now the ONLY ONE who didn't get it last term at some point. It's very weird.

trumpisagit · 09/01/2022 09:49

None of us have had it. 2 kids in secondary. 1 adult works outside the home, one works at home.
Not particularly careful now, but we were relatively careful in 2020.
I think omicron is inevitable though.

wineandchocolateforthewin · 09/01/2022 09:49

I haven't but my husband is just coming out of it and my 5yr old just tested positive so I'm expecting to catch it soon

RestingStitchFace · 09/01/2022 09:51

If you'd asked me this question a month ago, I would have said 'most of my and DH's family'. But everyone single one of them went down with it over December (and not from mixing with each other - they are spread across 3 cities.) Omicron has been rife lately.

DillDanding · 09/01/2022 09:52

None of us have had it as far as we know. We’ve all been out and mixing whenever the rules permitted.

@firef1y

Are you in the UK?

My sister had much the same experience as you in late-19 and we are convinced was CV-19

Whitefire · 09/01/2022 10:41

I'd love to do a study on those of us that never catch it to understand why!

Only about 20% of the population have had it (confirmed) so many do manage to avoid it. Family of 5, three are at school, no cases here. I haven't been particularly careful either or done anything to try to avoid it.

Sonex · 09/01/2022 10:49

I think vaccine timing is key
many got it too late once the winter respiratory season was already underway.

We have mixed very freely. I am still.prerty anal about hand hygiene though (always was tbh) and we (the adults) both still hand wash or gel as soon as get back to the table if go to the loo in a pub or restaurant and before and after eating. And we never open doors, press lift buttons etc with bare hands. I wonder if that's a factor?

kids at school not getting it though, dunno, got to be a genetic/immune system thing surely? Presumably we've all inhaled it at some point, probably multiple times, but somehow we've so far cleared it before an infection took hold.

lot of luck involved too probably, immune system was up on that day, well rested etc.

guineapigs · 09/01/2022 10:51

I haven't had it. Dh and dc had delta in the summer but I had negative pcr and lfts and no symptoms. Dc are in primary and secondary. Dh could wfh but chooses to go to office.

Read your description of this and had to reply! I had an illness in Nov 19 that knocked me out completely for about two months. I was asked how I felt and the only thing I could come up with was 'I think I'm dying'. You summarised exactly how I felt... I haven't even tested positive for covid in the nearly two years we've all 'known' about it. My children have had it, all other family and I've cared for them with no protection whilst they were a little poorly. Not been vaxxed at all either so I can only think that the strange illness I had then was covid.
MoistTowelette · 09/01/2022 10:59

DH and I both teachers in big schools and haven't tested positive, not even when our own children did.

Maggiesgirl · 09/01/2022 11:01

Not had it neither has DH. He is a prison officer, and is tested twice a week. I am retired, but see school age Grandchildren at least twice a week so I test twice a week.

All the rest if the family have had it over Christmas when we saw them all.

We both had that awful cold going around so tested daily but have stated negative.
