Who else still hasn’t had it?

I’m in an are where everyone seems to have it. We’ve been out, to the pub, restaurants, both in offices where people have it. DH and I still clear. We don’t have kids in school, were quite careful in week before Christmas and work from home about half the week…

Not here either. I know people who have been super cautious (washing down groceries, who also live semi rurally) who have had it. I live in London and am in crowds/public transport a fair bit. My daughter is on the tube daily and at school. Maybe I have but was asymptomatic? She definitely hasn't as she's tests much more regularly.

SpringRainbow · 09/01/2022 08:21

As far as we are aware non of us have had it, I am amazed. Children at school and DH is a non medical keyworker.

I was talking about this with others yesterday and there was quite a few of us who still have never ‘had it’ and can’t understand how.

We all thought Delta and then Omicron meant it would be inevitable.

Still, nothingConfused

WheelieBinPrincess · 09/01/2022 08:22

Never had it to my knowledge.

Worked outside of home all the way through lockdowns catching tubes and buses. Worked with children who had been mixing at school all day. Been to the theatre, pubs, gigs cinemas and festivals more times than I can count and whenever allowed. DH same. Was at a pub for every Euros game and was quite heavily pregnant then. Mixed all over Christmas.

I’d be shocked if I got it now.

CaptainChannel · 09/01/2022 08:24

Not me, DH or either of our 2 DC. I am a teacher and was unfortunate enough to have a classroom last term with no opening windows. My entire tutor group bar 3 got it but I never had symptoms or tested positive. Taught hundreds of kids a day.
DD is one of only 4 kids in her class who haven't tested positive - her two best friends who she plays with all the time had it, but still no symptoms or positive test from her.
DH spent 45 minutes having lunch with his mum the day before she tested positive. He never has.
Not sure what it is with our family - perhaps we will get it soon.

Geamhradh · 09/01/2022 08:27

Me, dp and DD haven't, at least not that we know. Not in the UK and a teacher with kids going back tomorrow, so ask me again next week as we seem to be Omicron central at the mo.

mugglenutmeg · 09/01/2022 08:27

Everyone around me who has school, college or uni aged kids has caught it from them.

Older family members have not had it.

ffscovid · 09/01/2022 08:30

We haven't (family of 4, DC are 11 and 9; the 11 year old is at secondary school).

I'm amazed really. It was rife through both schools just before Christmas; DC9's class had about 5 cases that I know of (school doesn't tell us) and 50% of the class were absent in the last week of term. DC11's school also had several cases in almost all of her classes.

I recently spent a day visiting an elderly relative (small room, heating cranked up, no windows open) with my cousin who tested positive the next morning after our visit, so assumed I'd catch it then but I didn't (neither did our relative, thank goodness).

DH and I are triple vaccinated (Moderna).

KonTikki · 09/01/2022 08:30

Me !

Bagelsandbrie · 09/01/2022 08:32

Dd aged 19 has never had it as far as we know. Tests regularly. She’s at university and goes out clubbing every other night in huge packed clubs and has worked in busy retail etc. Makes no sense….!

Iamanicepersonreally · 09/01/2022 08:32

I haven't had it. My husband hasn't had it. We're both fully vaccinated and have had the boosters. I've been tested regularly as I've been in and out of hospital for the last year.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 09/01/2022 08:35

i have been taking lfts twice a week for a year,
no i havent had it
dd got it, she worked at a testing centre
but not me
in 2020 i did test with pcr more than once due to concerns

Remmy123 · 09/01/2022 08:37

I've been close contact so many times as have my kids but none of us had it - that we are aware of!

meow1989 · 09/01/2022 08:37

I've never had it, and the only person on both sides of our wider family to have it caught it just after Xmas and didn't spread it to any if us. Dh is a teacher, ds is at nursery and I visit homes as part of my job.

I did have a horrific stint the October to March before covid kicked off and was in and out of a and e with atypical pneumonia and my chest hasn't been the same since but who knows. I dod have an antibody test through work the first summer of the pandemic but my sample got lost 🤷‍♀️

megletthesecond · 09/01/2022 08:38

No one in my family has had it yet. Do regular LFT's as I have dcs at secondary school. I don't go to restaurants or the gym though.

But I may of had it in Nov 19, who knows. And if I did I saw my whole family in that time.

damnthisvirusandmarriage · 09/01/2022 08:40

Kids had it. I didn’t. Although got really poorly with something else at the same time. Positive antibody test though. Triple vaxxed.

Londontown12 · 09/01/2022 08:42

I hadn’t had it for 2 years !! Hubbi had a tickle in throat so did lft positive! Myself and son did lft everyday and on 2nd day no symptoms both tested positive then daughter tested positive no symptoms all positive on pcrs ! Hubbi is only one with symptoms like a heavy cold x

Smileyoriley · 09/01/2022 08:43

I haven't had it yet as far as I know and have regularly done LFTs with occasional PCR tests, have been triple jabbed, largely WFH and wear a mask in crowded indoor spaces but haven't let the pandemic stop me going to the gym, restaurants etc.
The only people I know who have definitely had the virus are my brother who had it in the early days after lots of mixing in crowds, was very ill pre vaccine and admitted to hospital, plus my DS and wife who had only had first jab and their young children who attended a wedding where lots of other people also became infected. They were thankfully only ill for a couple of weeks but felt very rough.

ShinyPikachu · 09/01/2022 08:46

No-one in my immediate family has had it. DH works in a public facing role and we have one school aged child. DP are both retired and DB and DSIL work from home.

In fact even in our wider family there's a cousin on one side who had it very early on and an aunt on the other side who caught it in hospital and that's it. DH has an elderly relative in a care home who hasn't had it thankfully and as far as we're aware none of his extended family has had it either.

My closest friends and their immediate families haven't had it either. We've all been incredibly careful due to different health issues but still met up fairly regularly when it's been allowed.

We know we've been unbelievably lucky. We've had friends who have caught it after being less social than we've been and some of them have had it more than once now too.

HalfwomanHalfcookie · 09/01/2022 08:47

@firef1y

I've not officially had it but...

I did have something Christmas 19 that if I'd had it 3months later would most likely have been diagnosed as covid. I had all the symptoms (including loss of taste, discovered that chocolate is disgusting if you can't taste it) and was the illest I've been in a very long time (as in felt like I was dying) and then had post viral syndrome that took months to resolve (tbh I still sometimes get energy issues now over 2 years later). My friend, who had (presumably) the same thing I had at the same time and is also still struggling with energy issues, has had covid in her household 3 times and not once caught it, despite the close contact (she works for patient facing for the NHS so has been taking lfts regularly for longer than me as well as regular pcrs).

We're both pretty much convinced that we had it then and if it wasn't actual covid it was close enough that it's given us some immunity

I also had something in December 2019 that I imagine would be classed as covid 3 months later. Classic symptoms, I've never had anything like it before. No idea if it was covid or not, but I haven't caught it since. The other three members of my household have all had it, and I work in a school, but despite this I have managed to avoid it. It does seem to be the luck of the draw though. Some people have also dodged it 3 or 4 times and then come down with it!
HalfwomanHalfcookie · 09/01/2022 08:49

Don't know where the chocolate has come from. I was quoting firef1y Confused

chocolateorangeinhaler · 09/01/2022 08:54

I work in a huge acute hospital and I haven't had it neither have any of my colleagues. We are now all wondering why. Have we had constant tiny exposure and built up an immunity that way??

hernamewasrio · 09/01/2022 09:02

All 4 of us have never had it - 1 lecturer, 1 teacher and 2 high school children - so certain we've been exposed at some point!

I'd love to do a study on those of us that never catch it to understand why!

KylieKangaroo · 09/01/2022 09:05

We have never had it either although extended family have had it. And my other half has worked in a supermarket throughout. I suspect we had it at the end of 2019 as we were all so ill and lost our taste etc.

EventOfTheSeason · 09/01/2022 09:10

We've not had it I don't think. DD in nursery/school and dh working in and out of people's homes. Dsis also hasn't had it in her house, similar aged kids and two parents working with many people at times.
In Dec 2019 dh and I were pretty ill/run down with something and it hung around for a couple of months but obviously we'll never know.
