… there’s a weekend meeting of SAGE & government…Oh the anxiety.

I’m supposed to be flying to see my family for Christmas on Tuesday. I am kicking myself for not booking to go earlier! If they announce lockdown before Christmas we’re all shafted aren’t we …?!

No, I think we'd know by now. It's always leaked well ahead of the actual announcement.

Where did you read this ?

It's on the front page of sky news

MumbleCrumbs · 20/12/2021 12:09

It's at 2. A virtual meeting apparently.

Just heard on the news that the cabinet are meeting this afternoon to discuss possible restrictions.

I wish they'd hurry up and make a decision so we know one way or the other. We've cancelled a number of arrangements this week on the basis that we are going to visit 93 year old MIL on 28th. If we can't go next week then we can see some friends this week as originally planned before Omicron reared it's ugly head. We're all triple vaxed and always do LFTs before meeting up so would be prepared to meet but don't want to risk having to cancel visit to MIL & wider family if we got covid.

That'll be because they've all gone home for Christmas, nothing to do with Covid Grin

@bigbluebus, I think today there will be some sort of announcement for this week but I really think Boxing Day Sunday will have an announcement to shut us down , maybe on Tuesday 28th. I just have a feeling about it.

We are going to see my 92 yr old Mum ( lives alone in her own home- 2 hrs away) on Boxing day, so will be okay on that score but on the Wednesday (29th) we were supposed to be going on holiday in this country, but 15 of us ( family) so if Lockdown or rule of 6 are brought back in .....Sad
Hope I am wrong and you do get to see your MIL and don't have to needlessly avoid other friends and family this week.
We are like you, we and our children and spouses are all triple vaccinated. Also, we, our children and our grandchildren ( all under12) do LTFs before meeting up.

Is it wise to visit the MIL anyway regardless of what Borris says. It seems much safer to enjoy this week with friends and catch up with the MIL in the new year. You could catch it even going for petrol for the journey to see her
