This Christmas and New year.

Let’s do this ting.

OP posts:

God, 1999 was brilliant. I mean, truly, utterly, brilliant. The year 2000. Threat of the millennium bug. Pulp. Cheap nights out. Street parties on NYE. A Labour government, raring to go.

I'm in!

the80sweregreat · 16/12/2021 17:56

It was a strange time but good fun

Burnamer · 16/12/2021 17:57

Are you actually suggesting people pay no attention to covid or is there some kind of joke I’m missing?

zen1 · 16/12/2021 17:57

Yup, I’m in!

Papertrail392 · 16/12/2021 17:59

Ah yeh, best time ever. Student at Salford uni, the millennium bug, drinking diamond white and kissing randoms. Fab times.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 16/12/2021 18:00

I was 9 then. But I'll be partying. Work Christmas party tomorrow!

DaisyNGO · 16/12/2021 18:00

One of the best nights of my life. Thanks for the happy memory OP!

CaroleFuckingBaskin · 16/12/2021 18:01

DaisyNGO · 16/12/2021 18:08

@GoldenOmber

Hair mascara!!! All the snogging! All the happiness!
OvaHere · 16/12/2021 18:09

@GoldenOmber

I'd completely forgotten about hair mascara! Grin
RestingMurderousFace · 16/12/2021 18:09

Someone had gifted my boyfriend a very generous amount of 'Peruvian Flake', way too strong for my then 24 year old lightweight self. Feel sick at just the thought of it!

Diet Coke is about the strongest stuff I ingest these days so I'll pass on the 1999 party. Grin

RozHuntleysStump · 16/12/2021 18:13

I was a week from giving birth then. No partying for me!

OldaRailer · 16/12/2021 18:14

I was stuck at home ill.😂

Badnightguaranteed · 16/12/2021 18:15

Pass my silver dress.
I’m in !

DaisyNGO · 16/12/2021 18:24

@OldaRailer

I was stuck at home ill.😂
Oh poor you...I got flu in that year's epidemic too, but luckily it was early in the season.

Badnight I had a gold dress! Nearly wore a red one. I was a size 8.

Oh my god, the nostalgia is overwhelming!

Re Millennium Bug, had to travel on 4th Jan and there was a computer glitch at LHR and we thought the preventative stuff had failed 4 days in....which probably makes no sense!

Moonpiglets · 16/12/2021 18:24

@Badnightguaranteed - I wore a silver hologram dress. I felt fabulous Grin

OldaRailer · 16/12/2021 18:27

I was okay on the evening and saw in the bells with my mum so I remember it rather fondly. Fireworks going off around the neighborhood.🎇

DynamiteFilledRadish · 16/12/2021 18:29

Starts tomorrow for me with my work Xmas do and then it's going to be a mess of partying! Shame I have to work til Xmas eve but that won't stop me 🎄🍾

CovidCorvid · 16/12/2021 18:29

I was out partying but sober as on call. I bought a mobile phone specifically so I could go out as prior to that if on call you were expected to stay at home….I think I maybe had a pager. Then the phone system crashed at midnight as so many people ringing each other it couldn’t cope!

FromEden · 16/12/2021 18:30

Pass my silver dress

Or sparkly strappy top with boot cut jeans and heels Grin or was that more early 00s?

YukoandHiro · 16/12/2021 18:34

Are work do's still happening? Most places I know have cancelled them or just don't have enough staff willing to go to make it worthwhile

succession · 16/12/2021 18:35

Bore right off
JuneOsborne · 16/12/2021 18:36

Metallic dresses. I was so normally thin in 1999. Sigh. If I out a metallic skin tight dress in tonight my husband would ask why is dressed as the Christmas turkey! (I had just started seeing him in 1999! We've been married 20 years. Top bloke)

GoldenOmber · 16/12/2021 18:41

No we should all pay a lot of attention to covid. After all, it’s well known that covid will make you take your clothes off and go dancing in the rain, she’ll make you live her crazy life but she’ll take away your pain, like a bullet to your braaaaaiiin…
