Cinemas not following the rules

If you are cautious about covid I would advise against Vue cinemas at the moment.

We went at an early showing and booked extra seats to keep some distance. It was awful. No signs up about masks required and I would estimate 75% didn't bother. A few clearly had flu/covid and were coughing and spluttering everywhere. Staff weren't interested in the slightest. Some teenagers were making a point of coughing as they thought it was hilarious. A few including us walked out because of how bad it was.

It's no wonder we are in this mess. To be honest I hope they shut them again.

@superblondie28 we saw that today it was great. Enjoy. Don’t forget to stay for the end credits!

PinkWaferBiscuit · 16/12/2021 19:07

You took vulnerable people to a cinema in December and didn't expect others there to have colds, coughs or sniffles?

Also no one has misquoted you, you said you hope they close them and if that happens of course people will lose their jobs. Confused

dementedpixie · 16/12/2021 19:09

You dont need a mask if eating or drinking although when I went once the mask came off it stayed off. If you are worried about covid I wouldn't go and sit in a large enclosed space with lots of strangers.

OnceUponAWhine · 16/12/2021 19:10

People don’t wear masks if they’re eating and drinking. I’ve enjoyed being back at the cinema and funnily enough, didn’t pick up covid whilst sitting through a long film.

It’s not the job of the cinema staff to keep you safe.

TheVampiresWife · 16/12/2021 19:10

I also didnt say I wanted anyone to lose their jobs either

Closing cinemas with no furlough scheme in place amounts to pretty much that, yes.

Either way, this thread feels about as real as your concern for the livelihoods of cinema staff.

Tabbacus · 16/12/2021 19:12

I'm not sure how you can conclude all Vue cinemas are the same, I went to one last week and it was a great set up even though the showing was fairly busy.

MajorCarolDanvers · 16/12/2021 19:12

Take your family source of income has not been threatened by the pandemic.

Imagine wishing people out of jobs and businesses to close.

Awful.

Willyoujustbequiet · 16/12/2021 19:13

@PinkWaferBiscuit

I was misquoted as nowhere did I say I wanted people to lose their jobs. Millions were furloughed last time and not made redundant.

Neither did I say I expected people to not have colds or sniffles but you appear determined to put words in my mouth.

@Willyoujustbequiet

The booking of the extra seats was because there were vulnerable disabled children in the party/some neuro diverse and some physically Please feel free to trawl back through my posts over many years before you dont believe a word of it.

I also didnt say I wanted anyone to lose their jobs either but why let misquoting get in the way of having a go 🙄

So a whole 'party' of you went flouncing out in the middle of the film?

And you said you hope the cinemas shut again, so yes, you do want people to lose their jobs. No misquoting necessary.

Willyoujustbequiet · 16/12/2021 19:14

@MajorCarolDanvers

Please stop misquoting me to fit your narrative. I did not say that.

Come to Scotland we are still distancing and mask wearing.

Willyoujustbequiet · 16/12/2021 19:17

@IcedPurple

I did not say that. Nor do I think it. But don't let that stop you.

Well no you didn't explicitly say the exact words that you wanted people to lose their jobs but of course they will if the cinemas all close. No one is going back on furlough so the alternative is being jobless. It's abundantly clear to anyone who understands cause and effect that closing somewhere down now would result in people losing their jobs. Hmm

Neither did I say I expected people to not have colds or sniffles but you appear determined to put words in my mouth.

You clearly did expect this though or you wouldn't have commented on those showing signs of a cold. Hmm

I'm in Scotland and there isn't social distancing in cinemas. Plus you can take your mask off to eat and drink
Willyoujustbequiet · 16/12/2021 19:23

@PinkWaferBiscuit

You're telling me what I expected now? I'm sure the government could do with your mind reading skills Grin

Again with the misquoting - I said flu/covid not a cold or a sniffle.

Well if you were expecting it you wouldn't have commented on it as it wouldn't be noteworthy. It's hardly mind reading.

Also the had a cold not the flu. People with the flu don't go to the cinema. No mind read needed for that one.

MarcelineMissouri · 16/12/2021 19:29

What were the symptoms they were showing that meant they definitively had flu/covid rather than a cough/sniffle then?

Willyoujustbequiet · 16/12/2021 19:30

@pinkwaferbiscuit

So now you're telling me what illness a person had when you weren't there and so have absolutely know clue what they were presenting as?

Thanks for the laugh but honestly there's I haven't got the energy. I won't be baited further. Have a good evening Smile

op....what did the staff say when you complained??

Whinge · 16/12/2021 19:34

So now you're telling me what illness a person had when you weren't there and so have absolutely know clue what they were presenting as?

But you have absolutely no idea what was wrong with them either. Yet claim they had the flu / covid. Confused

OnceUponAWhine · 16/12/2021 19:34

@helpfulperson

Erm, we are still removing masks to eat and drink in the cinema. You still sit directly next to some random. People are still coughing during the screening. I love it, it’s a bit like life BC.

Don’t go to any cinema if you’re scared. Simple.

Cherrytart23 · 16/12/2021 19:37

You booked extra seats?

Stay home do not leave its clearly to dangerous out their for you.

I hope nothing shuts I hope everything remains open so people can actually live their life's.

Willyoujustbequiet · 16/12/2021 19:40

@MarcelineMissouri

A constant very loud cough and doing that awful nasal/back of his throat phlegm clearing thing . He was sweating profusely too. It wasnt a sniffle. Even if this was pre covid I'd still think bloody selfish for the noise if nothing else.

PestoSugarPlumFairy · 16/12/2021 19:41

Amazing skills you have. No need for lft or pcr tests if you can tell just by looking at people Grin

It's no wonder we are in this mess. To be honest I hope they shut them again.

So everyone has to miss out just because of you? How about you stay at home and let everyone else get on with their lives?

Willyoujustbequiet · 16/12/2021 19:41

@Cherrytart23

Extra seats/room for kids with disabilities.
