Going to be out. So I will miss it.

Wondering if we will get some guidance- similar to Scotland. However not really saying too much.

AchillesLastStand · 15/12/2021 13:42

I’m going to count how many times Johnson says boosters!

This is starting to feel worse than last Christmas now. But mathematically I do get why the situation could become dire.

CorrBlimeyGG · 15/12/2021 13:42

Apparently Jenny Harries predicting 400,000 new cases today, and double that tomorrow

This is based on the infection rate doubling every two days. On Monday, it was estimated by the UKHSA that there were 200,000 infections, so it would follow that there are 400,000 today, 800,000 on Friday and so on. She did add that, the rate will level off as people isolate, reduce contacts etc.

BigButtons · 15/12/2021 13:58

What's the bloody point when you can still stand in a pub with no mask, mix with whomever you want. Stupid half arsed measures won't make any difference.

DogInATent · 15/12/2021 13:59

Johnston will waffle and bluster about positive thinking being required, and if we all wish hard enough the target of jabbing/boosting every adult by NYE will be achieved.

Whitty will be his more sobre self, carefully not contradicting the PM's obvious lies and bluster but getting across the point that things are serious, we should all get jabbed, and advising us that restraining our socialising would be a good thing for the NHS.

I don't expect the phrase 'imminent collapse of NHS services' will feature. It probably should, as this is looking inevitable - not through Covid hospitalizations, but as a result of staff illness.

Don't expect any new measures unless Javid is scheduled to give a statement to the House at the same time.

Watch out for Johnson attempting to reinitiate weekly clapping to resurrect a happy ending.

Leftbutcameback · 15/12/2021 14:00

I expect he'll be clarifying that he didn't mean everyone would get a booster by end of year, just able to book one Hmm

His clarity of communication gets worse

screwcovid · 15/12/2021 14:02

@Charles11

Oh yes of course. More terrifying numbers so we all sit quivering in fear at home while they quaff champers at parties laughing at us all.
Exactly

There is nothing that man has to say that I am interested in hearing at the moment and I am not contributing to his viewing figures.

Sparklfairy · 15/12/2021 14:04

Today is the day the booster program opens for the under 30s, so it'll probably be a reminder to get one and then the site will crash again Hmm

Quarantino · 15/12/2021 14:05

The more cases, the more severe cases, the more potential long covid and the more everyone else who needs non-covid healthcare gets delayed/ unseen.

More cases, even mild, aren't good.

fournonblondes · 15/12/2021 14:07

More scaremongering so people get them.

toomuchlaundry · 15/12/2021 14:07

Many people on here broke the rules last Christmas, or made up spurious bubbles so they could mix with various households.

If the situation is looking dire I won't risk family health just to stick two fingers up at the Government

AchillesLastStand · 15/12/2021 14:08

I will watch as I’m interested in the data Whitty will present. Apparently MPs walked out of his presentation of the data yesterday white faced.

Still 98 voted the other way so maybe not all.
MarshaBradyo · 15/12/2021 14:12

@kimlo

director of primary care is going to be there with Whitty. So something about gps.
Ok unlikely to be restrictions then
tootyfruitypickle · 15/12/2021 14:13

I'm adding a bottle of gin to my Ocado order tomorrow , I think it's the only way forward !

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 15/12/2021 14:19

I don't bother watching this rubbish anymore it's so sensationalist .

Covidworries · 15/12/2021 14:23

@nannamcphoo

The problem with they wont dare put restriction after party gate is if we need restrictions now not doing restrictions is going to impact us all.
So i hope they follow the science and if restrictions are needed they impliment them. I dont want a government not actict now because they have been found out about a party last yr

Sunshinedreaming2022 · 15/12/2021 14:24

18-30years can book their booster today so it’s probably just that. Nothing to get worked up about

CrunchyCarrot · 15/12/2021 14:25

Not another one! I still can't get Boris's last slogan straight - Boost Boris Better? Better Boosting Boris? Get Boris Boosted? Fuck sake.

I adore Chris Whitty.

Just putting that out there for no good reason at all. :)

the80sweregreat · 15/12/2021 14:27

' get Boris Booted '

2389Champ · 15/12/2021 14:27

Cases are everywhere in my area (SW England) Those that have managed to avoid it for nearly two years and are even fully vaxxed are now testing positive. However, it seems that they are all very, very mild. 24 hours of sniffles and a tickly cough. Nothing else.

Maybe it’s COVID’s last hurrah?

OrangeCrunch · 15/12/2021 14:30

Just one @tootyfruitypickle ??

Oh for goodness sake, my heart sunk when I heard this 😣 but don't they normally do a press conference on the same day MPs vote on something within Parliament? Saying that, what's Whitty doing there if it's not with some hideous data? Sad
