I know it's early days. But...

If you have it now / have had it

  • What did you / do you feel like / symptoms / compared to flu/cold/other
  • How many vaccines / which ones had you had (if any)
  • Have you had Covid (and 'brand') before?
  • How old are you / do you have any existing illnesses?

I am scared shitless by all the media out there but would like to hear from some people who actually have it rather than BOJO.

I've had Covid, long Covid, 2 pfizer vaccines (quite recently) which made me feel really ill again. Not desperate to rush for my booster just yet but will do If I feel I am at risk of serious illness / death.

She is double vaxxed, 2 days off booster. London.

Heepers · 16/12/2021 18:33

@Delatron

Ditto *@Changeisneeded* It’s the speed at which over half of the party came down with it. Party Friday. Over 60% positive on PCRs by Monday. Some triple vaccinated, all double vaccinated. Most of us had kids in the house with Covid in November and managed to dodge it.

My main symptoms are muscle pain and tiredness but cold symptoms like with Delta. I’m sure it’s Omicron but I’m not sure if we’ll get told. Was due booster today so that’s frustrating.

Did the triple vaccinated also get it?
MsNorris · 16/12/2021 18:38

Yes whole family has had it, we are in South Africa in Gauteng epicentre so sure it must be Omicron.
I am double vaxxed with Pfizer, no boosters here, not had Covid before.
Honestly it was like a mild cold, headache, sneezy and snotty.
My 14 year old is not vaxxed and had swollen glands which caused him to sleep a lot due to lack of oxygen but is totally fine now.
I had 3 days break from exercise but trained today, just light weights and ran up and down the drive slowly quite tired but ok.

Kshhuxnxk · 16/12/2021 18:42

Sister has it. Feels like a cold virus. She has had two vaccines and is 58. Never had covid before and has no medical conditions.

PatientZerooo · 16/12/2021 18:42

Suspected omicron here, as notified by T&T.

Snotty, cough (but upper chest/phlegmy rather than dry/lungy), sore throat, night sweats/chills, insomnia. No loss of smell/taste. Over the worst of the head cold bit by day 4/5. Fatigue and brain fog persisted for 10 days or so.

DH had much the same, but less snot.

DH & I both double vaxxed with AZ - were due our boosters this week.

Both showed up on LFTs.

DC (primary school age) tested positive but completely asymptomatic.

maddiemookins16mum · 16/12/2021 18:58

I’m triple jabbed. Have a runny nose, dry cough, sore throat, mild headache and feel bleurgh. Is it Covid? Dunno, LFT says not.

RandomKettle500 · 16/12/2021 19:01

Not me but my parents (in their 80s) just had covid. No idea what strain but both are unvaccinated. Mum fully recovered with no lasting symptoms and dad still has a cough but is testing negative again. It could be Omicron. They had severe tiredness and bit of a cough.

Suzi888 · 16/12/2021 19:02

“Prof Spector told Sky News: "Broadly what we're seeing now is the majority of people testing PCR positive actually have cold-like symptoms and they do not have the classical triad of ill COVID symptoms of fever, loss of smell and taste and persistent cough.

So it's slowly emerged into a more symptomatic milder condition that looks just like a severe cold to many people."

So it’s a cold then? Confused

colouringindoors · 16/12/2021 19:03

Ch4 news - 3/4 cases in London are Omicron, R est as 5

beguilingeyes · 16/12/2021 19:08

I'm triple vaxed and got it. It just felt like we were getting back to normal there for a little while and now this...

Changeisneeded · 16/12/2021 19:11

Yes I’m triple vaxxed and have it. Some of the triple vaxxed have had previous covid as well

ZubinB · 16/12/2021 19:15

office party on Sat. I felt tired on Monday, sneezy with chills on Tuesday; LFT negative at this point. Tuesday evening so cold, then night sweats, muscle ache down my bottom half of body, all down legs. Terrible headache. Felt like flu. Positive later flow on Weds, awaiting PCR result. Feel much better now; still a bit achey and have a sore throat now. In the office, two thirds have tested positive, so about 15 since party! Shocking!!

Delatron · 16/12/2021 19:17

@Heepers yes the triple vaccinated caught it. One who also had Covid in first wave. She had very mild symptoms though. Scratchy throat for a few days but fine after a few days. No fatigue.

Delatron · 16/12/2021 19:20

My update is. I don’t have cold symptoms. Sore throat over night that goes away in the day. Tiredness mainly. But can pootle round house doing stuff. I’m on day 3.

AllisoninWunderland · 16/12/2021 19:29

I just had Covid - I suspect omicron from what the media are saying about symptoms.
Started with a fever, a headache and body aches for one night. With night sweats.
Two days of a sore throat, a strange taste and a slight cough.
Fully recovered after 3-4 days.
‘Only’ had one vaccine. Age 47.

2389Champ · 16/12/2021 19:41

I think I must have had Omicron as the scenario is too coincidental.

I went to a birthday party on Saturday 20 November. The music was very loud so in order to chat to a guest, I had to get very close. She was telling me how she had just come back two days previously from visiting her daughter for the first time in two years - in South Africa!

On the evening of Tuesday 23 November I felt cold and a bit meh, so decided to go to bed early. I had to pile additional blankets on top of the duvet to get warm. I had a slight headache but not a big deal. LFT negative.

Woke up on Wednesday with a thick head, typical of catarrh and sneezed a lot but otherwise felt completely fine. That evening I had a slight sore throat on one side which was odd but didn’t last long. LFT negative.

Thursday felt 100% other than sniffles. LFT positive.

Follow up PCR positive. Spent whole of isolation completely well so my covid brush was a non event.

2 days after I finish isolation, DH gets exactly the same symptoms at the same intervals. Also positive.

I’m convinced it was Omicron.

2389Champ · 16/12/2021 19:42

Forgot to say; double vaxxed and had booster booked but now have to wait 28 days.

Campfirewood · 16/12/2021 19:44

I had omicron and it felt like a cold initially. I didn't have a cough or fever at any point. The worst bit was the tiredness and fatigue, 2 weeks on I'm feeling more or less back to normal now. The fatigue was like nothing I've experienced before though, I'm glad others have mentioned it in this thread!

Normally very fit and healthy (keen runner), mid 30s and Double vaxxed, (and very glad of that!). My Dr said he'd seen a few in his clinic my age, not vaxxed and they were struggling for breath, and some had neurological complaints (not sure what they were, no more detail).

LFT were all positive for me.

Redwinestillfine · 16/12/2021 19:46

How do you find out covid you have?

Sweetmagnolia · 16/12/2021 19:52

I think I have Omicron in spite of having had three Pfizer jabs. I tested positive on LFT, awaiting PCR test. I feel like I have a cold in the head - sneezing, blocked up. Not nice but not too awful.

Warmduscher · 16/12/2021 19:54

@Suzi888

“Prof Spector told Sky News: "Broadly what we're seeing now is the majority of people testing PCR positive actually have cold-like symptoms and they do not have the classical triad of ill COVID symptoms of fever, loss of smell and taste and persistent cough.

No, it’s covid, which can kill vulnerable and elderly people, with symptoms similar to the common cold. You should know that - you posted the link!
2389Champ · 16/12/2021 19:59

These posts are really interesting. Whatever it is, it’s clearly very, very contagious - symptoms seem to be showing in 3 days for most - and luckily, for most, very mild. I’ve had far worse head colds. All 20 people that caught it at the party I attended had exactly the same, felt better in around 48 hours and none required medical help.

The experts reckon if Omicron continues doubling at its current rate, we will all be infected by the beginning of the new year. Maybe this is covid’s last hurrah and it’s burning itself out?

TheWeeDonkeys · 16/12/2021 20:05

Me & OH have covid atm. The rate it went round his work we think its omicron.

They don't test every pcr for it, just batches. I had a call to say it might be (caught it from DH) so if mine is then his is too. I was meant to get extra tests in the post for both of us to do and send them back for extra testing but I havent had them yet.

Symptoms started as a sore throat & a cough. Head cold & stuffy nose, but of an achy chest but nothing major. Getting over the worst of it now, still got a bit of a cough though & still get a bit lighter headed when standing up. Tested positive 7 days ago.
Both are double vaxxed. Not had my booster yet

Delatron · 16/12/2021 20:06

It’s so fast at infecting- our party was Friday - most were positive Monday morning - many feeling better by today. So symptoms disappear quicker.

Obviously we need more data. Wouldn’t it be good if because the duration of the illness is shorter they could cut isolation time! I know they’d need to study it but all this anecdotal info is looking promising on severity of disease. But it’s so infectious.

Warmduscher · 16/12/2021 20:08

I downloaded the ZOE app to record my symptoms but couldn’t bring myself to complete the registration as it had compulsory questions asking for my sex “assigned at birth” and my “gender”.

From a scientific body, ffs.
