Have you got Omicron? Or suspected to have it?

I know it's early days. But...

If you have it now / have had it

  • What did you / do you feel like / symptoms / compared to flu/cold/other
  • How many vaccines / which ones had you had (if any)
  • Have you had Covid (and 'brand') before?
  • How old are you / do you have any existing illnesses?

I am scared shitless by all the media out there but would like to hear from some people who actually have it rather than BOJO.

I've had Covid, long Covid, 2 pfizer vaccines (quite recently) which made me feel really ill again. Not desperate to rush for my booster just yet but will do If I feel I am at risk of serious illness / death.

No, not all.
So a few from the party had faint positives on the Monday morning (plus symptoms). I felt a bit tired but had a negative LFT. A few others had negative LFTs on the Monday morning but positive PCR tests..

Changeisneeded · 14/12/2021 21:10

So my lateral flow was positive yesterday evening and whilst I took my pcr yesterday morning I didn’t get the results till today.

BeeandG · 14/12/2021 22:21

I'm not sure if we have omicron.Dh tested positive on Friday, sore throat, fever, head cold, muscles ache. Rest of us negative. Then today dd1 and I positive lateral flow. Been for pcr today. Terrible headache for me, sore throat and muscle ache. Dd1 sore throat and tired, slight headache. We are both double jabbed with AZ and I had my booster on Saturday. DH missed his due to positive pcr. We're not 100% but not really ill either.

highashope · 14/12/2021 22:58

I’m 28, no health problems 2 x jabs of Pfizer and no previous Covid. I had a clear positive on a LFT last Thursday (despite being negative all week) and did a PCR, confirmed on Friday and confirmed Omicron last Sunday by T&T.

Symptoms started on the Monday, went out to a few bars on the prev Saturday that were extremely busy and in hindsight wish I wouldn’t have bothered as there was no ventilation if anybody did have anything. Confused

Symptoms started as a sore throat and a slight cough which gradually got worse, then came a fever, sneezes, congestion, horrific night sweats and splitting headache.

Thankfully a week later I feel 95% back to normal, just still feel a bit achey. Have been in contact with people who were all triple jabbed and they’ve avoided it, double jabbed person caught it though.

Locoooomotive · 16/12/2021 16:00

@Username7521interesting about lots having had Covid before, you can obviously get Omicron whether you've had it before / vaccines / boosters whatever but I am sure previous infection and vaccines will be helping limit severity.

@highashope, doesn't sound fun but also not too bad, I am glad you are back to feeling 95%!

I have covid. I'm done vaccinated and a healthy 34 year old. I'm a teacher and thunk I caught it in school. I've not been too bad, but extremely tired, muscle aches, awful headaches, runny nose, and absolutely no sense of smell (and barely and taste). Oh, also a slight temperature and felt weird, dizzy and shivery. My isolation finishes tomorrow and I'm feeling not too bad, but tired and still a bit headachy and generally rundown.

beatrixpotterspencil · 16/12/2021 16:20

@Madcats

In the press I was reading today, they seemed to be suggesting the symptoms were a scratchy throat (so itchy), night sweats and muscle aches, especially lower back.
ive got this, presumed it was meno Grin

one tickle in throat per day so god knows if i have it or not..

Honeyhorse · 16/12/2021 16:46

Anyone know of anybody who has had the omicron and isn’t vaccinated at all?

Locoooomotive · 16/12/2021 16:52

@honeyhorse no I don't know of anyone but would definitely be interesting to know how people are doing!

I only know of someone double vaxxed (recently), had Covid March 2020 (long Covid) and has Omicron (he assumes due to symptoms/location) and has been only very mildly ill, he hadn't had a booster. He is 45.

I've had covid previously and have suspected omicron variant now. It feels different this time so I wouldn't be surprised if it definitely is omicron. The biggest difference for me this time was quite a bad cough, where as the first time round I didn't have anything respiratory at all. This time I coughed so badly that I've really hurt my ribs/abs, it caused my throat to be very sore, also breathing felt laboured at times. Also aches, I suspected flu initially, whereas none of that previously. Same symptoms with both were nausea and headaches mainly. This time the headaches seemed less severe. I've had 2 x Pfizer vaccines since my first infection. LFT showed positive around 36 hours after I started to feel nauseous.

Caulidop · 16/12/2021 17:06

Oh also haven't lost my taste/smell this time, fingers crossed that lasts!

peachjuice · 16/12/2021 17:14

I've got it at the moment, not sure if Omicron or not. DS is in the same house and hasn't caught it so perhaps not.

Symptoms have been achy hips, full of cold, no taste or smell, headaches and the worst tiredness I've ever had. I'm on day 10 and still so lethargic, cooking a meal is beyond me.

Allsorts1 · 16/12/2021 17:19

I know 4 people who have it now, all double vaxxed. I had a jam packed week of activities but am cancelling / scaling back everything as going on holiday over Christmas so don’t want to catch it and not be able to go away.

beguilingeyes · 16/12/2021 17:20

I thought I was coming down with a cold on Sunday. Negative LF on Sunday, positive on Monday, then positive PCR same day. Still feels like a cold, bit feverish. Lethargic.
I've had all three jabs, booster early October. Not had Covid before.
Trying to keep DH from getting it which would bugger up Christmas completely. My isolation ends on 23rd at the moment.

kickupafuss · 16/12/2021 17:30

I have covid at the moment but not sure which variant. I am triple vaxed and caught it from DD who hasn't had a vaccination. She had a cough, tiredness, loss of taste whereas I have had a streaming nose ,no cough or change in taste. It must be the same variant but I guess the symptoms are different because of the vaccine.

Pretty much the same as me - I went to bed Tuesday night and slept really badly - was very hot all night and woke up with a banging headache. Have felt like I had a cold ever since. LFT positive this morning and waiting for PCR result from this afternoon.

I only got tested because we’re going away for our big pre-Christmas family gathering tomorrow. I’m gutted not be going as my mum has had cancer this year and is now in remission so lots to celebrate. Also the secret Santa is going to be shit without the four of us Sad

Notverygrownup · 16/12/2021 18:08

DH and I think we have it. (DH has been very boring and limited social contact for the last two years. I have been a bit more adventurous but neither have had covid so far.) One meal in a pub last week and dh went down 3 days later, me 3 days after that.

He has the symptoms of a cold and is on day 6. I had the sore throat and cough and have just started with a headache and feel feverish. PCR today, so await confirmation.

It's just possible that I picked it up elsewhere. Anyone know if we should self isolate from each other if I am positive? We could have both varieties in the house: I really don't want to catch the other variety if I still have this one!!!

Flamingolingo · 16/12/2021 18:11

My 5yo has covid. Supposedly. But I don’t know if it’s omicron. Whatever it is is super mild. I only tested him because so many in his class are off, and tbh I wouldn’t really have noticed he was unwell. He’s a bit sniffly, a bit tired, and has a loose tummy.

The speed at which it ripped through his class makes me think it could be omicron (0 cases to 18 in under a week), but I don’t have confirmation.

actiongirl1978 · 16/12/2021 18:15

I think I have it.

3x vax plus flu

Previous delta infection in the summer

I have a cough and in bursts a streaming cold. My nose clears for a couple of hours then starts streaming again and I choke on the phglem then it all clears again. A bit tired.

actiongirl1978 · 16/12/2021 18:15

Think I caught it in London 7 days ago.

Lokdok · 16/12/2021 18:21

I have omicron. Triple jabbed. Like the worst cold I've ever had. Flu without stomach symptoms. And my eyes hurt!

Wilkolampshade · 16/12/2021 18:29

Triple vaxxed DH had awful fluey thing, negative LFT's tho, two weeks ago. Very sore throat, runny nose, awful headaches then really shocking night sweats - proper Jane Austen type mopping of brow with an icy tea towel required. Didn't think covid because of the LF's and difference in symptoms but now....Today myself and DD both have it, sore throat and feverish, fatigue, positive lateral flows, awaiting PCR's. Neither particularly ill but a nasty head cold feeling but absolutely NOT the awful crushing chest feeling reported for 'normal' covid.

Wilkolampshade · 16/12/2021 18:30

I should add both myself and DD vaxxed. And glad of it.

colouringindoors · 16/12/2021 18:32

My sister. Tested positive Tuesday. Just been sent to hospital - breathing difficulties. Was vv bad cold with nausea, tight chest. She's asthmatic. Sad
