Have you got Omicron? Or suspected to have it?

I know it's early days. But...

If you have it now / have had it

  • What did you / do you feel like / symptoms / compared to flu/cold/other
  • How many vaccines / which ones had you had (if any)
  • Have you had Covid (and 'brand') before?
  • How old are you / do you have any existing illnesses?

I am scared shitless by all the media out there but would like to hear from some people who actually have it rather than BOJO.

I've had Covid, long Covid, 2 pfizer vaccines (quite recently) which made me feel really ill again. Not desperate to rush for my booster just yet but will do If I feel I am at risk of serious illness / death.

Nobody?! Or are there several threads like this that I have missed?

Lots of families with covid; not a lot of clarification on whether it is covid or not round here.

You are asking for information that scientists are trying to put together right now; no one has any definite answers & you won't get them by asking people to tell you their experiences on social media.

We have covid in our family right now; we are all as vaccinated and boosted as we can be; it is still very worrying but then again we have some vulnerabilities.

Bobholll · 13/12/2021 21:43

My in-laws do. So far, their symptoms are identical to mine with Delta a couple months ago.

Achy, tired, congested, generally feeling pretty naff but OK.

They are 34 & 37 & double jabbed with Pfizer. Not due a booster yet (although they are now they’ve made it 3 months). They’ve not had covid before.

Locoooomotive · 14/12/2021 15:56

@herecomesthsun sorry I didn't realise that people aren't notified if they have Omicron / find out through their contacts. I thought this was happening now for at least a proportion of cases but I must have gotten that wrong.

@Bobholll thank you. I know of one person with it (suspected Omicron not confirmed) at the moment and he is recently dbl vaxxed (not yet boosted) but has had Covid as well prior to vaccines, for him it's been body aches and pains and fever but no respiratory symptoms at all which he says feels very different to Covid 1.

I had the opportunity to have a (very long) conversation with Test and Trace today and also with a research medic working with covid vaccines; they tell me that the information as to whether a positive result is omicron just isn't available yet.

herecomesthsun · 14/12/2021 18:37

Though maybe some people like PP's family are hearing whether they have the new variant?

Changeisneeded · 14/12/2021 19:21

I’m fairly sure I have omicron.

I tested positive within 48 hours of a party and a large number of us have gone down with it (about 60-70%)

Those I have spoken to are all double jabbed, most are triple jabbed and a few of the triple jabbed have had covid before.

My symptoms are mild - runny nose constantly, a cough (annoying) basically a head cold. Similar seems to be reported amongst other group of triple vaxxed so coughs, sore throat’s etc and all saying it’s like a cold.

The double vaxxed has gone off sick. Feels like the flu, experiencing breathlessness and so on. So there does seem to be a difference.

I don’t know about others but I’d be considered clinically vulnerable and I’m so glad I got the vaccines. I tested positive yesterday

nomoneytree · 14/12/2021 19:30

I think I have it. Haven't got my test back yet. Came on very suddenly yesterday. Fever. Awful headache. Nauseous, cough and breathless, so so tired and achy limbs. I'm double jabbed but due my booster.

Delatron · 14/12/2021 20:10

Ditto @Changeisneeded
It’s the speed at which over half of the party came down with it. Party Friday. Over 60% positive on PCRs by Monday. Some triple vaccinated, all double vaccinated. Most of us had kids in the house with Covid in November and managed to dodge it.

My main symptoms are muscle pain and tiredness but cold symptoms like with Delta. I’m sure it’s Omicron but I’m not sure if we’ll get told. Was due booster today so that’s frustrating.

Delatron · 14/12/2021 20:11

I mean not cold symptoms for me. But many at the party had sore throats. I just have muscle pain. It’s strange!

Locoooomotive · 14/12/2021 20:19

Thank you @delatron, @nomoneytree and @changeisneeded. Really interesting to hear how it is affecting people so fast. Also interesting to hear of the symptoms being milder in the triple vaxxed but still pretty apparent! I hope you all feel better soon.

Having had Covid in March 2020 I can confirm that at 10 days in I was taken to hospital unable to breathe and thinking I was having a heart attack (turned out to be myocarditis). I am (was) fit, young, healthy. I REALLY hope these vaccines keep it at 'flu level' at worst because truthfully I think that first wave was awful for those that caught it then with no protection, no healthcare and no treatments. Although I am scared now I realise we know more, we are believed if we have it and thankfully there are some treatments if you need them.

@delatron for the muscle pain obviously there's the medication / pain relief but also try epsom salt bath and CBD oil if you're up to getting some.

OP posts:
Delatron · 14/12/2021 20:25

Ah thank you @Locoooomotive I have some Epsom salts and hadn’t thought of that. And I’ll order some CBD oil. I had some but run out a while ago. I’ve just been taking paracetamol so needed other ideas!

I’ve just spoken to my triple vaccinated friend and she feels mainly fine today (one day after positive PCR). Just a slightly irritated throat/cough. Says super cold she had a few weeks ago was way worse. So I think boosters may be helping with severity but not stopping people from getting it (especially if Omicron)

Delatron · 14/12/2021 20:26

And sorry to hear you had such a tough time in the first wave. That sounds very scary.

Changeisneeded · 14/12/2021 20:30

If it wasn’t for the comment about kids I’d almost question if we were at the same party @deletron. It’s ripped through us and lots we’re asymptomatic at time of pcr

Username7521 · 14/12/2021 20:35

Pretty sure everyone at my old company has it!
Drinks Thursday night in one department (but spread across lots of divisions). Lots were in Friday. Started dropping like flies Saturday and Sunday.
More and more positives on Monday (as well as the whole slt from all 4 divisions).
Tuesday they actually closed the building for a deep clean and won’t open until Christmas.
They are all reporting tiredness mostly. Some are snotty and some have a sore throat.

Obviously aren’t sure it’s omicron but the fact that this has literally tore through the office like nothing we’ve seen before!

DJSteves · 14/12/2021 20:41

I tested positive 24/11 no idea what variant. I'm double jabbed but need to wait a couple of weeks for the booster. Symptoms were mild but was very tired

Delatron · 14/12/2021 20:41

I think it’s the hit rate of these parties and the speed at which people become ill.

Yes @Changeisneeded I did wonder! This must be happening all over the country now. I was feeling quite invincible until now. Been to the theatre last week, lots of travel. Kid in the house with Covid.
I do think these parties sound like Omicron.

Locoooomotive · 14/12/2021 20:42

Yes @Username7521that sounds likely to be it given the timings! Is everyone vaccinated / boosted or I guess you might not know? Have you got it yourself?

OP posts:
Madcats · 14/12/2021 20:50

In the press I was reading today, they seemed to be suggesting the symptoms were a scratchy throat (so itchy), night sweats and muscle aches, especially lower back.

DJSteves · 14/12/2021 20:53

Yep muscle aches was a big one

Delatron · 14/12/2021 20:54

Yes symptoms from the party are scratchy throats and muscle aches and fatigue. That’s why I’m thinking Omicron. (Plus speed of infection).

Megacervixosaurus · 14/12/2021 20:54

I've been confirmed to have covid yesterday and I'm convinced it's Omicron, I have what the media are saying the main symptoms are - aching, sore throat, temperature, waking up soaked in sweat of a night.

Username7521 · 14/12/2021 20:55

I don’t think any of them aren’t vaccinated and no one is really sick.
Lots of them have covid before which is the interesting thing.

Delatron · 14/12/2021 20:56

I think in the next few days we will see this filtering in to the figures.

Mooscow · 14/12/2021 21:02

Interested to know if LFTs were positive with suspected Omicron cases?
