"As pressure from virus rises, PM will give national address at 8pm tonight, updating the booster programme - sounds like this will NOT include new restrictions"

42 military planning units.

333 local authorities. In England.

Anyone seeing a problem with numbers here?

jgw1 · 12/12/2021 21:16
@jgw1 I aren't sure if you're taking the piss or you've been living under a rock? But just in case... The below is off the gov website

In England, face coverings are now required by law in most indoor public places and on public transport, including taxis
Boris Johnson quite clearly stated that the lifting of restrictions was irreversible.
No piss taking that is what he said.

@containsnuts

Genuine question - how long does it take to train a vaccinator and what's involved? (Slightly concerned about being injected by some random unscreened person with only an afternoon's training).
Eh? It's literally an arm squeeze, jab and a push down.

No it maps exactly to the fact we have 42 Integrated Care Systems in the NHS.

I agree. Huge potential for a muck up!

"Perhaps it’s time to start focusing on the important stuff not last years parties"

It isn't the parties as such that's the problem, it's the fact the government lie. Even when caught out, the default position is to keep lying.

What else are they lying about?

When the general population don't have any faith in their government that leads to bigger issues.

If the government want people to do as they are asking then they need to restore faith

The impact on Delta should be significant. Efficacy against Omicron is believed to be 75% for symptomatic infection but for Delta it's more like 95%. Omicron won't just replace Delta, at least not quickly. There'll be parallel waves for a while.

@jgw1 but he's quite clearly reversed mask wearing

jgw1 · 12/12/2021 21:21
@jgw1 but he's quite clearly reversed mask wearing
So he now always wears a mask when he can't socially distance from people he doesn't live with?

LegoPandemic · 12/12/2021 21:22

For meOnline training- fair few hours. Real life training - an hour or so.
Am HCP though so fairly easy.

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 12/12/2021 21:22

@LordEmsworth Are there? Where? Last time I checked the nearest walk-ins were Man City stadium and somewhere in Birmingham. Shock

Roundeartheratchriatmas · 12/12/2021 21:22

Thanks Benji - I’m doing a lot lot better now. Worth every penny in all honestly. Not perfect Ofcourse but much improved.

Might make me an arsehole to say I wouldn’t fully comply (I’d not take huge risks would never visit anyone vulnerable etc etc, always wear my mask, don’t like groups of people regardless of covid so no chance of lockdown raves) but I wouldn’t want to do it like the first time again. I’m sure they wouldn’t remove support bubbles anyway now.

RedToothBrush · 12/12/2021 21:22

Oh thats helpful... Not.

So we have to drop everything, travel and go to a centralised point and queue for hours with kids. Or try and do it before Friday fitting it with school hours or work. Whilst competing with 18 year olds to do so.

Over Christmas.

Yep thats going to work a treat.

justasking111 · 12/12/2021 21:22

Our GP and many others in Wales have refused to give the booster with smaller surgeries there's nowhere to wait for 15 minutes aftwards

the80sweregreat · 12/12/2021 21:23

Boris Johnson has said many many things since Feb 2020 , including ' 12 weeks till exit day ' when they were selling us the prospect of the first lockdown! How many have we had since then ? Not to mention the very dodgy ' tier system' which worked like a leaky sieve.

That didn't go according to plan either.
He is a man who has trouble with contraception let alone telling anyone the truth.
This was the warm up speech to lockdown in January.

I do hope I'm wrong .

I am listening to the scientists and medical professionals on this one I have had the booster to protect my family and me never mind the ruddy government
containsnuts · 12/12/2021 21:24

"Eh? It's literally an arm squeeze, jab and a push down".

Surely there's more to it than that? Or there should be. Do they not need to know how to keep things sterile, how to handle a needle and deliver the dose, ensure it's going into the right muscle and not a vein, what to do if something goes wrong, how to dispose of it safely. Surely some random from the bus stop can't just start injecting people?

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 12/12/2021 21:24

@jgw1 well it's a law he re-imposed, so I assume so. But probably not because he's a twat and he doesn't think the rules apply to him.

(I still think you're taking the piss)

The fact there are 42 teams doesn't necessarily need they will simply set up and operate one site in the area to which they're assigned.

Was one meant to be socially distancing and wearing masks this time last year?

AndreaC74 · 12/12/2021 21:26

@rosie1959

So you are happy to make up your own mind about what the government is lying about or not?

Boris is supposed to be our leader, yet has zero leadership qualities "one rule for you plebs, another for us"

PhoboPhobia · 12/12/2021 21:26

I work in commissions and we oversee the vaccine program in our county. This new deadline is a nightmare. People are already losing their shut about GO practices not being fully up and running. Now we are going to be asking swathes if that workforce to divert to vaccinating again. Not to mention the hundreds of vacc sites that are in GP practices and usually operate at the weekend to avoid disruption to business as usual in the week.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 12/12/2021 21:27

@jgw1 one was. But one wasn't as I have already said. He is a twat

Benjispruce5 · 12/12/2021 21:27

@jgw1 I listen to the science, not BJ.
