Is anyone being offered Pfizer as a booster?

Locally we only have Moderna being offered. I wondered if it was pot luck, a Nationwide decision and if it’s possible to have a booster done privately to be able to pick?

It doesn’t matter me but it really matters to my DP who will only have Pfizer and is vulnerable. His solution is to just say he’s not getting it. My solution is to try and track the mofo down.

@Cookerhood

There was a lot more Pfizer than Moderna ordered originally so you are far more likely to get Pfizer. Where I vaccinate we've only ever had Pfizer (& AZ originally).
It’s obviously just down to supplies locally.

Pfizer after 2 x AZ
No option to have AZ as a third booster, which makes me wonder about its efficacy against the new variants.

PupInAPram · 11/12/2021 15:49

Just had Pfizer for my booster about 30 minutes ago. First 2 were AZ so I'm hugely relieved to get my booster in. In my workplace I am surrounded by teenagers taller than me who think mask under chin is a good look Confused

WinterWeightlossGoal · 11/12/2021 15:50

I had AZ for my first 2 and when I got my booster the doctor said everyone is getting Pfizer for the booster (with a few getting moderna if that was available).

HereComesSpringAgain · 11/12/2021 15:52

where in uk are you op?

FreeBritnee · 11/12/2021 15:56

I can easily get to Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

There's 2 large vaccination centres where I am in Lancashire. One it's pfizer and moderna at the other

NoBetterthanSheShouldBe · 11/12/2021 16:02

Moderna booster last week, first two were AZ. SW and no choices offered at any point.

AZ was never planned to be a booster as the CovBoost study showed the mRNA vaccines to be better as boosters. People can have it if allergic to the others but otherwise everyone gets Pfizer or Moderna. It's nothing to do with Omicron as it was decided before we knew it existed.
LidlMiddleLover · 11/12/2021 16:07

Yep pfizer for all 3

Why will he only have Pfizer? The two mRNA vaccines are very similar.
MsMartini · 11/12/2021 16:09

Pfizer and Moderna are very similar....anyway, some CCG walk in sites lists which vax is where on which day but many have not yet been updated about boosters. www.england.nhs.uk/east-of-england/ccgs-and-acute-trusts/

Reddit get jabbed thread and twitter also have people updating.

OneOfTheGrundys · 11/12/2021 16:09

Moderna at the drop in for me. It was written up on a big whiteboard as you went in so I guess you could leave and come back another day if you had wanted. I was Pfizer Pfizer Moderna.

OneOfTheGrundys · 11/12/2021 16:11

The man behind me at the drop in had no spleen and lower immune system. They wouldn’t give him Moderna there and told him to go to another place where they had AZ doses available to match what he’d already had. Obvs different between individuals.

Thanks, just looked it up now. Wonder why that is. Am double-jabbed and had my Pfizer booster yesterday. Arm hurts, otherwise okay so far.
Any idea when I can have my 'normal' flu vaccination? How long should I leave it?

daisypond · 11/12/2021 16:15

I had Pfizer after two AZs.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 11/12/2021 16:16

My friend had Pfizer on Thursday, I had moderna at the same clinic on Friday. W Yorks.

This is a man who won’t touch courgette because he has an issue with cucumber. I’ve told him courgette is tasteless and takes on the flavour of the food it’s mixed with but he won’t touch it. Also has an issue with collars being too loose around his neck lots of t-shirts in his drawer that will never fulfil their destiny.

So in answer I don’t know. He won’t be moved. I’m just keen that he doesn’t die by the hands of Omicron so I’m appealing for help here.

I had Pfiser for my booster but my sister went to the same Vaccination Centre and had Moderna.
There seems to be no real rhyme or reason to it.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 11/12/2021 16:19

Dh had his booster this morning, so his 3rd dose of Pfizer & I'll be having my booster next Saturday, the booking confirmation from my surgery says Pfizer (so will be my 3rd dose too) but I know they have Moderna on site as well.

SunshineCake1 · 11/12/2021 16:20

Dh and I had Pfizer but if we hadn't have asked for it we would have been given the Moderna one.

ZealAndArdour · 11/12/2021 16:21

All three of mine have been Pfizer, but I work at the hospital and had it done at the vacc centre on site.

FrownedUpon · 11/12/2021 16:21

I had the Pfizer booster as did everyone I know
