Literally everyone posting about refusing the boosters now after he back and forth with restrictions and the government breaking the rules etc! I can't believe it!
Anyone else seeing the same thing?
I wonder if it is like this in other countries who have reintroduced restrictions etc.

This is not my view btw, I'm happy to take my booster but obviously very annoyed with new restrictions too. So hope my sons Nativity isn't cancelled :(

I'm ECV, had my second AZ in May but haven't been offered my third jab yet even though I have had loads of NHS letters telling me to get my jab. The reason is I'm housebound & have to go on a waiting list, they have told me it could be February before I get it & then I presume I have to have a booster as well.

Twopenny · 09/12/2021 04:03

I will be having my booster as soon as I'm eligible. But then I've already been wearing masks in some crowded areas and working from home sometimes. Long covid would fuck my life up, while the precautions against it are easy and don't bother me at all.

Mummyoflittledragon · 09/12/2021 04:09

@Nancydrawn

Pfizer's reported today that the booster means that it works very well against omicron.

If you want to get omicron for kicks, I suppose you can have at it.

But why you wouldn't get a safe, free, quick prevention from getting sick I'll never understand.

Because it isn’t safe for everyone. My life and health has been ruined by prescription drugs. My body is very sensitive. I recovered ok, back to ill normal with the first vaccine dose. The second, I’m still fighting the inflammation caused and have so little energy. It’s set me back years and years.
ViceLikeBlip · 09/12/2021 04:51

I understand that full-on antivaxxers are up in arms about the concept of vaccine passports. But surely all those "Meh, fine, I'll do it" people won't become MORE antivax once vaccine passports are introduced?

I know you don't NEED the booster for the passport YET, but it's only a matter of time, and if people wait until the booster becomes mandatory for the passport, then there's bound to be a big rush, and probably a bit of a wait.

I'll have mine done as soon as I'm called, and that way it's done 🤷‍♀️ (Ps I caught covid whilst double jabbed. Very mild illness, and no one in my household caught it off me, despite sharing beds etc)

ViceLikeBlip · 09/12/2021 04:55

@Kyliealwayshadthebestdisco

Agree with a PP earlier in the thread who said this is a mad reaction by the UK public. I get the anger and agree with it but we are just punishing ourselves by saying we won’t get boosters FFS. We should be using this anger to demand that heads roll very high up )l(like the PM…)
This. For sure. (I think the public are scared to lose BoJo though, because imagine if we got an even worse Tory..... 😱😱 I think lots of people voted for a bumbling clown, rather than a party as a whole, or any policies etc)
Justcannotbearsed · 09/12/2021 06:06

@nocoolnamesleft

The government is made up of mendacious cunts. But I was delighted to receive my booster.
Yep, can’t wait for my booster, but I’m over 50 and a bit overweight. Would I get it if I was younger? , yes probably, but I can understand young people’s reluctance. It doesn’t stop you passing it on.

And yes there are Russian troll farms pushing rot on social media.

people saying they won’t get a booster because of the government seems weird reasoning.

But we are going to have to have vaccinations against this forever. And people will hav3 to make their own risk assessments.

I really feel for the young in this wh9 have made so many sacrifices for fat old codgers like me.

Justcannotbearsed · 09/12/2021 06:07

Most people I know were delighted that we could sign up for the booster.

worriedatthemoment · 09/12/2021 07:12

@neveradullmoment99 exactly very light restrictions but ones that could help just a little and enough not to have a full lockdown hopefully . Wfh is only if you can so not forcing anyone

wincarwoo · 09/12/2021 07:51

@DramaLlllama

Ffs - we’ve been asked to wear masks and work from home. Its not bloody lockdown!
It feels like it frankly. I don't care about the masks we should have kept them all the way through absolutely stupid to loosen the rules on them. But WFH? More isolation, more massive hits to the economy. It's shit.
Helpstopthepain · 09/12/2021 07:56

My sm feeds are quite the opposite op. I suppose it depends on the type of person that you associate with.

Jacopo · 09/12/2021 07:56

@SecretKeeper1 said it right:
“ I think the best we can hope for is that those that want boosters can get them asap, and those that choose not to catch covid. We need herd immunity and there are only those two ways of getting there.

And if the ones that shout loudest fall hardest, so be it.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.”

To which I would only add that the stupid ones are already causing delays to other people’s cancer treatments etc. Selfish as well as stupid.

GoldenOmber · 09/12/2021 08:13

Possibly people are anxious because they remember that there has never been a time when ‘very light restrictions’ have been enough to avoid a lockdown, but plenty of times when they’ve led to more and more and more resrrictions?

I will bet you anything that this time next week we’ll be hearing lots of “Plan B doesn’t go far enough, the government left it too late, we need to do more.”

(Not to mention that there are plenty of people for whom these aren’t very light restrictions anyway.)

LemonSwan · 09/12/2021 08:14

@Tealightsandd

Thank you.

I am so glad they are both OK!

Yes I too am struggling with getting info on timing, they are all just saying have it as soon as possible; rather than any consideration to coverage in third tri.

I might just stick with my original plan of late Dec/early Jan for now and wait to see what more they know about omicron

Summerofcontent · 09/12/2021 08:22

@MarshaBradyo

It’s so strange

Three work for omicron like two do for delta - according to Whitty

I know this has been hideous rollercoaster and everyone is fed up but the booster is for the person getting it

How old are they? The ones refusing on principle

I agree.

No one bats an eyelid at babies having a course of three vaccines and then a pre school booster.

SLH2003 · 09/12/2021 08:27

The Facebook algorithm serves up stuff it thinks you want to read and watch based on history.

Saucery · 09/12/2021 08:43

So because I think the govt are a bunch of inadequates I turn down the chance to increase my immunity to Covid (even though it may be by a small amount)?

Yeah, that makes sense. Hmm But then I never accepted the vaccinations as a passport to going into certain places/abroad in the first place.

PuzzledObserver · 09/12/2021 08:43

@whynotwhatknot

i'll still be getting my booster to protect myself not exactly fit and healthy but boris and co can get stuffed on the rest
And how does that work, exactly?
  • WFH if you can…. if that applies in your case, won’t your employer wonder why you are turning up in the office?
  • Covid pass in a limited number of settings - you gonna barge your way in?

Wear masks in most indoor settings…. Oh, you’re one of those people.

That is “the rest.” All of it. They haven’t closed any premises or limited social mixing.

BulldogDrummondBass · 09/12/2021 08:47

I haven’t heard any booster-resistance. And I don’t understand why there would be any. Everyone I know is happy to have a booster.

I stood in a long queue to get mine yesterday.

I suspect the same people clogging up the OP's Facebook feed have turned up here, paid or otherwise. Where is the logic in "I was going to get a booster but now I won't because I don't want to wear a mask". You are more likely to have to wear a mask for longer, and to experience other restrictions, if you don't get your booster.

fournonblondes · 09/12/2021 09:15

No booster here. At least for now. It is ridiculous to have to take a PCR to travel if you are triple vaccinated. Plus restrictions and masks.

wincarwoo · 09/12/2021 09:23

@KatyRebecca84

TBH I felt like this before the restrictions.. it was actually the talk of the new strain.... I mean how many strains are there going to be and how many new boosters will we need. We were told the vaccinations would stop lockdowns etc.. It isn't going to happen. We are putting something in our body that hasn't been tested, to prevent us catching something but it doesn't actually seem to work and we are still having our freedom taken away!
It doesn't prevent you catching Covid. Dear god. It reduces the risk of dying from it.
wincarwoo · 09/12/2021 09:25

@fournonblondes

You find it ridiculous others are trying to stop themselves from dying.
worriedatthemoment · 09/12/2021 09:25

I bet all those saying this when they need a booster for european travel will soon change their minds !!! And some european countries are more likely to insist in mandatory vaccines than the uk , when it affects there chance of a holiday they will then be moaning they can't get a booster in time
Its a choice in the uk to have one but not to have one because of some new light restrictions just seems silly.
If you were going go have one before then why not now ? Different for those with other reasons who have thought about why wether anti vax or medical reasons etc as thats making a choice based on some thought processes

worriedatthemoment · 09/12/2021 09:26

@wincarwoo quite worrying people still seem to not grasp whAt the vaccine is for isn't it ?
