Literally everyone posting about refusing the boosters now after he back and forth with restrictions and the government breaking the rules etc! I can't believe it!
Anyone else seeing the same thing?
I wonder if it is like this in other countries who have reintroduced restrictions etc.

This is not my view btw, I'm happy to take my booster but obviously very annoyed with new restrictions too. So hope my sons Nativity isn't cancelled :(

@SecretKeeper1

I think the best we can hope for is that those that want boosters can get them asap, and those that choose not to catch covid. We need herd immunity and there are only those two ways of getting there.

And if the ones that shout loudest fall hardest, so be it.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

ONS stats are showing 93% of the UK population have antibodies either through vaccination or naturally acquired.
howdiditcometothis666 · 09/12/2021 00:27

Actually 95% in England and Scotland. 91% in NI and 93.9% in Wales

LemonSwan · 09/12/2021 00:29

@allTealightsandd

I hope you dont mind me asking but was she vaccinated - 1,2,3 jab and how long since those jabs ie. 3, 6, 9 months etc.

And when did she get COVID - how premature was her baby?

Apologies for all the questions but these are all the questions I want the answers too and I cant find them anywhere.

bumbleymummy · 09/12/2021 00:29

@howdiditcometothis666 yep, we’re in a much better position than we were last year and yet here we are again with more restrictions.

howdiditcometothis666 · 09/12/2021 00:31

It's a huge difference from this time last year. I should add it is ages 16 and over.

What restrictions?
Wear a mask?
Work from home if you can!
Hardly restrictions are they?
Or am I missing something?

november90 · 09/12/2021 00:35

@dumdedumpop what sort of friends I have?
Well that's a bit of a weird thing to say but since you asked.... they are just normal people. As you can see lots of people on this thread echoing the message aswell. It's a bit concerning!

I’ll take the booster, but I’m not exactly rushing out there with eagerness to get it. It’s been a total pain to get an appointment; I’ll have to take half a day off work to travel there and back; jab 1 made me feel pretty grotty for a week and I’m worried the same thing will happen again; and I’ve already had covid plus two jabs so the benefit of another jab seems not huge.

Would bet there are a lot of people in similar positions, so it wouldn’t take a lot to tip a few of them over to the ‘why bother?’ side.

Dancingonmoonlight · 09/12/2021 00:43

@Callixte

I haven't seen people saying they won't get boosters. I'm not in the UK at the moment, but unless I'm missing something the Plan B (England) restrictions being reported don't seem that restrictive.

The European Commission have a proposal - out for EU Member State approval for implementation in early January 2022 - which would place an end limit of 9 months on proof of vaccination. This would impact both vaccination status for international travellers to the EU and validity of the "Green Pass" or equivalent in EU countries that use it. Might make the booster shot more popular for UK'ers planning to travel in continental Europe next year.

This.

I don't understand why posters are saying they only need two vaccines for a covid passport. In other countries, this has already been increased to three. You simply won't be allow into other countries without it.

GoldenOmber · 09/12/2021 00:46

I don't understand why posters are saying they only need two vaccines for a covid passport.

They’re possibly talking about domestic covid passes rather than international travel passports? If I wanted to go out clubbing at the weekend is only need two vaccinations to get the needed covid pass.

halcyondays · 09/12/2021 00:51

Boris won’t know or care if I have my booster. I’ll have it as soon as I’m able to, to protect my own health. What weird ideas people have.

Tealightsandd · 09/12/2021 01:02

@LemonSwan

You're welcome to ask (I'm only sorry I don't know all the details).

She'd had her first but not second jab. Not super premature and all fine now, but obviously it was a scary time. Could just be luck but her dh had both jabs and didn't catch it.

This was before the new variant so obviously a slightly different situation.

I'm sorry you're finding it hard to find good information. Flowers

There really needs to be better clarity and communication for pregnant women (and for midwives, etc).

My cousin had similar issues to you. Her midwife wasn't sure when she should have it.

I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to catch up on the whole thread. What does your GP or midwife advise?

Snugglybuggly · 09/12/2021 01:03

@MMMarmite

I'm delighted by my booster. I think the government are absolute cocks but that doesn't stop me wanting to keep myself healthy!

I don’t understand the connection between a shit government (which is hardly breaking news) and a booster vaccine for a virus?

Exactly. The government tells us what the scientists say, and I trust the scientists (since I am not one).
Nancydrawn · 09/12/2021 02:39

@LemonSwan, here is the link to the Royal College of Midwives: www.rcm.org.uk/coronavirus-hub/covid-vaccines-for-pregnant-women/vaccine-facts/

And here is a link to the CDC, including data from studies published in top medical journals: www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/recommendations/pregnancy.html

You should absolutely take advice from your own doctor or midwife: I am not giving medical advice. But these are useful links.

lemmein · 09/12/2021 02:53

I've had the first 2 - I won't be having the booster. Not because of the recent scandals, I knew Boris was a cunt long before covid was a thing - but because I'm not willing to have top-ups every 3-6 months, it's not that important to me.

bizboz · 09/12/2021 03:24

Strange logic. If more people get their boosters then presumably the number of people infected with Covid (certainly seriously enough to require hospitalisation) will be fewer and restrictions should be in place for a shorter time.

gofg · 09/12/2021 03:28

I honestly don't understand the big drama about having another jab. it's a few minutes out of one day, that's all. The way some people talk you'd think they were being asked to run a marathon.

I don't understand it either Confused

Fifiesta · 09/12/2021 03:47

@nocoolnamesleft

The government is made up of mendacious cunts. But I was delighted to receive my booster.
Totally agree. Anyone with friends or family slaving for the NHS will know the reality of running out of available beds. It’s not just the elderly and frail that are at risk. Babies and young children are waiting for life changing surgery. Please don’t risk taking up a hospital bed by having a strop and not protecting yourself as much as possible with a booster.
Meowwwwwww · 09/12/2021 03:48

@HariboMaroon

I just can’t be arsed now to get my booster, I was only up for vax to get my life back!

I’m early 30s and now just think what is the fucking point? If we didn’t have restrictions I would absolutely get my booster but now I’m just demoralised.

What’s the point, I’ve been exposed to covid loads of times now and quite frankly im still here and very much alive.

The fact that you’ve been exposed is meaningless. That’s not how this stuff works. It’s natural to value your own lived experience over statistics and science but it’s not logical. The point is to keep more people safer. That’s the point.
Kyliealwayshadthebestdisco · 09/12/2021 03:55

Agree with a PP earlier in the thread who said this is a mad reaction by the UK public. I get the anger and agree with it but we are just punishing ourselves by saying we won’t get boosters FFS. We should be using this anger to demand that heads roll very high up )l(like the PM…)
