Literally everyone posting about refusing the boosters now after he back and forth with restrictions and the government breaking the rules etc! I can't believe it!
Anyone else seeing the same thing?
I wonder if it is like this in other countries who have reintroduced restrictions etc.

This is not my view btw, I'm happy to take my booster but obviously very annoyed with new restrictions too. So hope my sons Nativity isn't cancelled :(

Well, this is life now.

Vaccine mandates, constant boosters, vaccine passports.

Goodbye to freedom and privacy.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 09/12/2021 20:43

I haven’t seen anyone on social media refusing, only people posting they have had their booster. I had mine today and the centre was heaving, only booked it yesterday too as they got extra capacity.

Lovely13 · 09/12/2021 20:44

In the name of Mary, Jesus and the sweet donkey, just get the jabs and stop this merry go round of nonsense. You’d have had your childhood jabs. You’re still ok. We’d all still be dying from diphtheria etc without vaccines.

Rocaille · 09/12/2021 20:50

@sleepwouldbenice, since you know so much about what constitutes a proper debate, I'm surprised you don't recognise the appeal to authority fallacy.

They know an awful lot more than you.

borntobequiet · 09/12/2021 20:53

Sweden has had very few restrictions and last time I looked their deaths were negligible.

About fifteen thousand out of a population of ten million, so a little under two thirds our death rate. It’s difficult to make comparisons between two such different countries, but I wouldn’t call their number of deaths negligible.

onewayanother · 09/12/2021 20:55

petshihtzu
like other posters, i'm in my 20s and had the virus in june before i was able to get the vaccine. i was fine , really mild and had no long term effects. i only got the vaccine because of travel and fear of vaccine passport. i will not be getting a booster unless i have to!!
The new variant has quite high reinfection rates.

@Tilltheend99
They said the same about the delta variant Hmm

Or maybe I just know more about science, medicine and statistics than you

Wally1983 · 09/12/2021 21:06

My social media is full too and tbh has been for ages..not just about the booster though! A lot are unhappy about restrictions, feeling dictated too etc

I’m part of a study/trial that see me tested monthly (PCR) and bloods done to test for antibodies - which I have present and have done for 7months. I’ve had my 2nd jab, wasn’t entitled to booster due to my age yet all of a sudden I should get it?!
I don’t understand why 2 weeks ago I wasn’t entitled now I am!
Based on the antibody testing I’m going to hold off having my booster until either 1) I have no antibodies or 2) I need it for travel.
I don’t think I’m being unreasonable, I know I’m protected already….so far anyway!!

Delatron · 09/12/2021 21:07

@borntobequiet I mean current daily deaths.

Beachcomber · 09/12/2021 21:14

@SecretKeeper1

I don’t get how people don’t understand that the less we are protected, the longer this will go on for. And that’s science, not politics.
I don't think that is how it works anymore.

Even if every single person accepts jab number 3 we will still be told that we must have more.

The EU wants to limit the validity of vaccination to 9 months.

I live in France where we have EU covid passes so if this comes into force I will have to have a covid vaccine every 9 months in order to retain basic freedoms.

Where is the science that justifies the need for such extreme measures??

Hopefully people in the UK will escape this but I bet you will be coerced into having endless boosters in some way.

Things have taken a very concerning turn if we have gone from "2 doses and we'll have herd immunity" to "9 monthly boosters to retain basic freedoms". And that in the space of months.

And where is the science that demonstrates that endless covid vaccines are safe? There is none. It is just being assumed. That is not scientific.

Beachcomber · 09/12/2021 21:24

And why the rather arbitrary number of 9 months? Why not 6 or 10?

Where is the science on that?

Or is it that they think that the vaccine wanes by 6 months but the public won't accept twice yearly jabs so they come up with a psychological figure of 9?

A bit like how a supermarket prices things at 9.99?

MissAmbrosia · 09/12/2021 21:48

I think everyone just wants to get rid of the fucking thing so we can all go back to normal. However, it's an airborne virus and if we all carry on doing whatever we like it just keeps spreading, and then killing the old and vulnerable and more. But no-one will stop nor sees any personal responsibility. So lets hope Omicron truly is mild.

Rocaille · 09/12/2021 22:18

Where is the science on that? They're making it up as they go along. We're drifting far from the realms of evidence-based policy.

Bertiebiscuit · 09/12/2021 22:24

Well said - we have a pathetic bullying child as a prime minister, we can't trust a word he says, but let's be the grown ups and look out for ourselves and each other, wear the masks, wash our hands, get out jabs and the booster, and have a quiet safe Xmas - I'm not going to cut off my nose to spite my face

Bertiebiscuit · 09/12/2021 22:26

Childish tbh yabu

Bangolads · 09/12/2021 22:54

@onewayanother not that hilarious 🤷🏼‍♀️ Where have you been? War isn’t waged in the skies any more it’s pernicious and ominous and via the internet, social media, trolls and misinformation. Welcome to 2021. China and Russia are put to derail us. Sit back down and drink in the lesson my dear!

Mamanyt · 09/12/2021 23:03

I have one thing to say about the boosters...SHOOT ME! I don't care if we need them every six months. It's better than having a severe case of COVID-19. By a long damned shot.

threatmatrix · 09/12/2021 23:05

So it’s fine to take a booster for something that is still on test and didn’t stop spreading or hospitalisation but stop a nativity, how dare they.

Emilyontmoor · 09/12/2021 23:06

Xiant are you for real? Even if you were using cast iron sources you do understand that a smaller proportion of a larger proportion can be larger than the large proportion of a small proportion? Hence with 60% of the US population vaccinated (CDC figures)

Redwinestillfine · 09/12/2021 23:11

I hady booster today. The NHS nurse administering said they need 80% of population jabbed for herd immunity. Those refusing because you'll be ok what about doing it for the population as a whole?

Emilyontmoor · 09/12/2021 23:11

(Cont) 8 out of 20 cases in the fully vaccinated compared to 12 in the 40% not vaccinated does point to the protection vaccination gives?

Though these are such minute numbers in relation to the whole population of millions is barely worth drawing conclusions i.e nonsense dressed up as evidence.

SecretKeeper1 · 09/12/2021 23:17

A nice picture showing why ^of course^ there are more infections in the vaccinated than the unvaccinated. Hope it helps those struggling with basic maths:

Well if they contract the virus, which they most likely will, then they’ll also be contributing to herd immunity too.

Reading this thread there is no chance we’ll be anywhere near that % soon.

Currently we are at 81.1% double jabbed (age 12+) and less than half that are boostered so far, though this will ramp up in the coming weeks. But since the vaccine starts wearing off around the 6 months mark, pretty soon those who are declining boosters will be a good as unvaccinated, right as we hit the peak winter season.
