Literally everyone posting about refusing the boosters now after he back and forth with restrictions and the government breaking the rules etc! I can't believe it!
Anyone else seeing the same thing?
I wonder if it is like this in other countries who have reintroduced restrictions etc.

This is not my view btw, I'm happy to take my booster but obviously very annoyed with new restrictions too. So hope my sons Nativity isn't cancelled :(

15 million jabs for freedom… we’re not at approx 119 million jabs.

ThePoisonousMushroom · 09/12/2021 19:13

Urgh *now at 119 million jabs

petshihtzu · 09/12/2021 19:20

like other posters, i'm in my 20s and had the virus in june before i was able to get the vaccine. i was fine , really mild and had no long term effects. i only got the vaccine because of travel and fear of vaccine passport. i will not be getting a booster unless i have to!!

thebitchisback1998 · 09/12/2021 19:41

If you refuse the booster you are contributing to the spread of the latest variant of the virus according to the science. If you want to go that route, that is your right, but please stay away from the NHS.

Yeah and while we’re at it, anyone who drinks, smokes, is overweight, doesn’t exercise, drives a car, skis, plays a contact sport etc should also stay away. They’re all taking up beds that the more virtuous deserve more than they do.
Tilltheend99 · 09/12/2021 19:46

Sounds ridiculous. Yes the Gov are trash over their hypocrisy but getting boosters to increase immunity against the new strain would mean these new rules won’t be needed for long. If not enough vulnerable category people get the booster plus the 25% of people who haven’t been vaccinated at all then hospital rates will increase to the point that no one else will be able to access vital services again.

supermoonrising · 09/12/2021 19:48

Requiring 60 million people to get the original vaccines, a vaccine which has no long term data and has had some pretty nasty side effects for a considerable number of people was supposed to be a one off.
Seems they didn’t know that it would be of only average utility against many new variants, and they didn’t know it would only last properly for 3 or 4 months before requiring another booster (and another, and another). What else don’t they know about them?

The new variant has quite high reinfection rates.
twocatsandtwokids · 09/12/2021 19:48

I don’t understand some of the thinking here - people who have gone “right, there’s more Covid around now/more risk of catching Covid so I’m
NOT going to have my booster!” What?!!

I had covid in October, it was fine, I’m double jabbed and late 30s. But I don’t want to get it again and risk it being awful, so I’m going to get my booster!!

bluetongue · 09/12/2021 19:51

@HariboMaroon

But lots of people (particularly younger people) only had their vaccinations as a way out of the pandemic and a way back to a more normal way of life. I can’t see a benefit to accepting a booster.

I’m double jabbed and I’ve had covid. Like I said, i would have got the booster if there were no restrictions as in my mind it would have been the acceptable pay off!!

Not even worth the effort of leaving the house for it now.

I felt the same about the booster until reading how much extra protection it gives, especially against Omicron. You need to separate your (very valid) views on government overreach and the excellent work scientists have been doing throughout this pandemic.
supermoonrising · 09/12/2021 19:51

Some people are more concerned with the effect this not all that reliable vaccine has had/will have on their health than about the spread - the spread which will go on and on and mutate again and again regardless of how many jabs we all get. I’m not sure that personal decision is a reason to slander people.

MissAmbrosia · 09/12/2021 19:53

I've not seen anyone kicking off where I live (abroad) where we have many more restrictions than UK. Maybe my friends don't want covid in the run up to Xmas? Boosters - everyone rushed to book up when slots became available. No moaning about masks either. I am bemused by attitudes in UK - it seems no wonder why numbers are so high. Does noone give a shit anymore?

Anti vaxxer much?

There isn’t long term data for covid either
Higher level of nasty side effects for a great deal more people from covid
Never said it was a one off. Always clear boosters were likely
Always clear vaccine would need to change for variants
All this has been made incredibly clear countless times

Average utility compared to what? No vaccine?

They know an awful lot more than you.

ihearttc · 09/12/2021 19:59

I’m not getting my booster. I’ve had Covid and then both vaccines. I was far far sicker after my vaccines than I was when I had Covid. I see no reason to make myself ill yet again (and everyone I know who has had the booster has been really poorly) to protect myself from something which I have already had. The vaccines were meant as our way out…from where I’m standing we are no further forward than this time last year apart from things are slightly more open.

Wisenotboring · 09/12/2021 20:02

@milly74

i have had my booster but would have cancelled it if waiting for appointment. There is no point, vaccination or not. restrictions are here to stay on an on and off basis
But the booster will protect your health and mean fewer people are hospitalised regardless of whether the government are utter fools. Dont join them in their idiocy by cutting off your nose to spite your face.

There were always going to be varients. That shouldn't be a suprise to anyone. Thanks to the vaccines so far we have enjoyed a lot of freedom this year that we didn't last year. Surely that is clear to see....

SamMil · 09/12/2021 20:07

No-one has mentioned anything on my social media about not getting booster jabs, but reading this has made me realise how lacking in logic a lot of people are..!

Yes, I'll be getting my booster when I'm eligible. I'd prefer to limit the risk of getting seriously ill and also limit the risk of passing on the virus. Boris being a knob doesn't change that.

SecretKeeper1 · 09/12/2021 20:08

I don’t get how people don’t understand that the less we are protected, the longer this will go on for. And that’s science, not politics.

Jng1 · 09/12/2021 20:12

Lots of friends here who are scientists/ work for the NHS etc. They all think the govt are a disaster, but have the good sense and intelligence to detach that from the science around vaccinations, so no, OP, I haven't seen anything on my social media about rejecting boosters/ the new regulations.

fromdownwest · 09/12/2021 20:19

@HariboMaroon

I just can’t be arsed now to get my booster, I was only up for vax to get my life back!

I’m early 30s and now just think what is the fucking point? If we didn’t have restrictions I would absolutely get my booster but now I’m just demoralised.

What’s the point, I’ve been exposed to covid loads of times now and quite frankly im still here and very much alive.

This in spades.

I locked down, I wore a mask, I socially distanced, I got mt 2 jabs. Yet still they want more to 'protect' us from a virus that as a young healthy person offers me little risk of death.

It has however absolutley f*cked my head and mental wellbeing up for the last 2 years.

Rocaille · 09/12/2021 20:20

Had my last Covid jab in late June, early December I get a text calling me for a booster. Because the jab I had just a couple of months ago won't protect me from Omicron, but this one (which is exactly the same) will. Ridiculous. And they say from now on we'll be getting four jabs a year. Where can I buy shares in Pfizer please?

bozzabollix · 09/12/2021 20:26

I’ve got a couple of people posting negatively about the boosters. Shame, thought one was a bit more rational than that.

I’ve had the booster, well timed given my son now has Covid and we’re trying to dodge it. Was very willing and happy to have it, I’ve separated the absolutely shit government we have from the scientists.

Rocaille · 09/12/2021 20:26

Not a couple of months later then

And yes that’s how boosters work

But I am sure you know better than scientists. Of course
